We are faced with a choice between three philosophical methods: the examination of natural languages to find what features they share; piecemeal conceptual analysis; and conceptual analysis which justifies the interest of its subject-matter by setting out conditions for experience. The third method is Kant's.

The thesis is focused on the production of a seamless ring manufactured from low-alloyed steel 15 142, which fills the function as a large-dimensional bearing. On the basis of suitable production technologies analysis, the radial axial rolling method was chosen and a specific manufacturing process was proposed. During the manufacturing time, the creation of the forging defects in the transfers forms were occurred, which was totally undesirable. By changing the parameters of the machine, in particular the rolling curve and the temperature, the process was optimized and the production performed completely without defects.

<p>Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka om svenska koncerners resultat och nyckeltal påverkats av den standardändring som infördes i USA från och med årsskiftet 2001/2002, SFAS 142. Detta för att kunna generalisera resultatet till den svenska marknaden i och med att IFRS 3 implementeras under 2005. Vår undersökning, som genomförts med en jämförande ekonomisk utvärderingsmetod, visar att samtliga undersökta koncerner redovisar ett synbart högre resultat och en urskiljbar högre vinst per aktie. Vi kan konstatera att vid såväl ett positivt som ett negativt resultat är standardändringen gynnsam för koncernerna. Ju större goodwillposten är desto större förbättring av vinst per aktie på grund av den uteblivna avskrivningen.</p>

The accuracy of ozone measurements in the middle atmosphere is of great importance when determining its diurnal variation. A high time resolution of the measured data is desirable and depends on the sensitivity of the receiver used to detect the ozone. This thesis aims to improve the sensitivity of a groundbased 142 GHz microwave radiometer used for measuring atmospheric ozone data. This is done by replacing the previous receiver components with a series of new components and arranging them in different setups for comparison purposes. Mechanics and wiring were changed in order to install the setups along with changes in the optics. Each test setup could be implemented as a first step towards improving the sensitivity of the radiometer. The result show that the optics contribute with an unexpected addition of noise to the measurements and hence the overall performance and improvement of the radiometer could not be determined. Suggestions are made for further work which include improving the optics and performing cryo-measurements.

This dissertation explores beta dose profile of microspheres packed in arteries, various source geometries of 142Pr that can be used for therapeutic purpose, and dose backscatter factors for selected beta sources. A novel treatment method by injecting microspheres into feeding arteries of arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is under pre-clinical investigation. To optimize radiation dose to the clinically important area, i.e. arterial wall, preliminary dosimetric studies were needed. Monte Carlo calculations were performed for several geometries simulating arteries filled with microspheres packed by random packing methods. Arterial radii used in the simulation varied from 50 mm to 3 mm; microsphere radii varied from 10 mm to 0.7 mm. Dose varied significantly as a function of microsphere size, for constant arterial sizes. For the same sizes of arteries, significant dose increase was observed because of inter-artery exposure for large arteries (> 0.1 cm rad.) filled with large microspheres (> 0.03 cm rad.). Dose increase between small arteries (0.03 cm rad.) was less significant. The dose profiles of prototype 142Pr beta brachytherapy sources were calculated using MCNP 4C Monte Carlo code as well as dose point kernel (DPK) for selected cases. Dose profiles were similar to beta sources currently used indicating that 142Pr can substitute for current sources for certain cases and the DPK was closely matched with MCNP result. Backscattering of electrons is a prominent secondary effect in beta dosimetry. The backscattering is closely correlated with factors such as geometry of source and scattering material, and composition of scattering material. The backscattering factors were calculated for selected beta sources that are currently used as well as potentially useful sources for therapeutic purpose. The factors were calculated as a function of distance from the interface between water and scatterers. These factors were fit by a simple function for future incorporation into a DPK code. Backscattering effect was significant for short distance from the surface of interface between water and scattering material.

The thesis deals with the design of technology for production of wheels to be manufactured by die forging 15 142 low-alloy steel at an amount of 500,000 items per year. Based on a consideration of the suitable methods of manufacture, die forging on a Jing Duann FP-1600G vertical forging press was chosen as the best, as documented by the necessary technological and design drawings. A die with inserts made of 19 552 steel was designed for this machine. In view of the volume of annual production, a fully automated workplace was designed consisting of three robots and a chain and pan conveyor. In the conclusion there was a technical-economic evaluation of costs for the material of the semi-finished products and price of dies for annual production.
