Abstract: This thesis analised the behaviour of the economy of the Northeast part of Brazil, focusing on the intervention of the State from 1960 to 1980. During this period of time, the GNP has risen in an average rate of 6,3% causing important changings in the economy of the region: industrialization and significant expansion of its socio-economic substructure. However, the process of agriculture modernization has discriminated a great part of the North-East States, improving almost only a narrow extent of the land, within the limits of the coast forest zone and barren tablelands coast. In the North-costwards States such as: Maranhão, Piaui, Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte, the areas where modern agriculture is developed, are Known to be real, oasis and are located in the surroundings of the States and at the humid ridges. The population level of life was; not expressively improved, and the Northeast part of Brezil continued to be the biggest land of poverty of the country the periodic droughts remained causing thousands of misfortumed. The SUDENE, that until 1964 was the hope, for solving the big problems of the Northeast region, became a govern agency - that overgrew enormously in burocratic organization with an impact only when we refer to management of taxes incentive. / Doutorado / Doutor em Ciências Econômicas

Trajetórias e leituras feministas no Brasil e na Argentina (1960-1980)

Borges, Joana Vieira January 2013 (has links)

American youth in the decade of the 1960's : a study of counter cultural values

Brown, Jill Elaine January 1974 (has links)
This thesis used the results of two nationwide studies to describe the values associated with youth in the counter culture and to compare these values with those of other youth and adults in the general population. The purpose of this description and comparison was to determine if there is a significant difference between the values of counter cultural youth and those of other segments of the population. Results of the study showed that the group of young, well-educated protestors sampled had large percentages of liberals in four value areas. It was suggested that this group represented a vanguard of the counter culture. Additionally, the results indicated that among collegeeducated adults up to the age of forty there were above average percentages of liberals. These results give tentative indication that the counter cultural values studied were notlimited to youth.

"La féminité, un beau mot qui disparaît lentement" Réaménagement d'une norme en crise (Belgique-France, 1960-1980) / Femininity, a beautiful word that is slowly disappearing ". Redevelopment of a norm in crisis (Belgium - France, 1960-1980)

D'Hooghe, Vanessa 18 November 2015 (has links)
This research focuses on the redevelopment of the model of femininity during the two decades 1960 and 1970, in Belgium and France. Femininity is then declared endangered while being omnipresent in social debates. The research question is whether the model is upset or reorganized by "new" phenomena such as women's work, sexual liberation or even feminism. The research is based on published sources, television, radio and memoirs from social schools and universities. The first part is devoted to the basics of the femininity model. She determined its characteristics at the start of the 1960s. She then studied how the model was rearranged in the face of the upheavals of feminism and looked into the reformulation of the scientific foundations of the model. It ends with the observation of Belgian and French models of femininity compared to models from elsewhere. The second part deals with the reorganization of the various traditional facets of femininity, namely the roles of mother, housewife and wife. She observes the way in which these facets are upset or not by two "emerging" facets, work and sexuality, the novelty of which is questioned in the light of history. The research chooses, in reverse of a historiography which concentrates mainly on the movements and the revolutions of manners of these "years 68" (but which questions more and more on their real ranges), to be placed on the side of this which does not change or subtly, rather than on the side of what changes. These observations outline the contours of a modernized femininity model more than that of emancipation. This model, which is played right next to it, and at the same time as the emancipation of women, is that of the accumulation of roles and the tight arrangement of daily time.

The role of adult education in contemporary American society : an analysis of the relationship between social change and the increase in participation in adult education

Sullivan, Mary Jane January 1980 (has links)
The study sought to identify the relationship between the increase in participation in adult education and the rate of social change in American society. Three major research questions were examined: 1) What changes are taking place in the traditional social institutions which may be causing adults to rely upon education as a means of adjustment; 2) What are the effects of technology upon the cultural values in contemporary American society; 3) What changes are taking place in the social roles and responsibilities of American adults. The study related the knowledge of the intellectual and psychological growth of adults to educational programming, and suggested the role which adult education will continue to play in the immediate future. Relevant publications by social critics and educators were examined, and statistical information related to social change in the United States was cited. It was determined that there had been dramatic social change in the United States during this century as a result of the deep and pervasive impact of technology on all aspects of society. As an example it was reported that an enormous upheaval in family life was refected in the 350% increase in the divorce rate in the fifteen year period from 1960 to 1975.The impact which this change has had upon individual adjustment is reflected in the fact that the largest percentage of increase in reasons for participation in adult education programs was in the area of personal and family interests and that the increase itself was strongly related to the general increase in participation in adult education programs by women. The study concluded that the changing role of women in society and the upheaval in family life was related to the increase in the number of women taking courses for personal and family reasons. It concluded that the impact of technological change on all aspects of society would have to be dealt with by educators for many years to come, directly assisting adults to develop the flexibility and creativity necessary to adapt to change. It recommended specific areas for planning adult education programs, and cited a number of areas of sociological and educational concern which were raised during the study, to which other scholars might address themselves.
