The thesis is divided into three parts. Initially, part I highlights the practices of the Ferreira Gomes group and their strategies in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 elections, constituting a new and controversial political cycle. Speaking with the thesis of "coalition presidentialism", part II analyzes the construction of the allied base in the Cid Gomes governments in the Legislative Assembly of the State of Ceará, addressing: the leaders and indicators of the coalition, the budget process and the articulations of the opposition. In part III, the administrative actions of the governments of Cid Gomes, drawing parallels with the political grammars of the Age of Changes and lulism, are discussed: the decision-making nucleus, the government marks, the scandals and the relation with civil society. The group in question gained strength and autonomy during the governments of Cid Gomes, won the support of a broad and heterogeneous allied base, allied with important political leaders, linking to the phenomenon of lulism. This range of alliances began with the articulations for the 2006 elections, gained strength by sharing spaces with allies and bringing new names to the composition of the government, strengthened in 2010 and began to fragment in the 2014 election, signaling the wear and tear of this political cycle. Despite the outbreak of several political scandals, it did not suffer significant pressure from the Legislature and put into action a large and controversial investment program. The methodological course of the research involves the use of conjuncture analysis, interviews, documentary analysis and systematic observation of the Ceará political scenario. It is believed that in following the paths of the power of a political group, the paths and impasses of representative democracy are in fact discussed.

Dějiny farnosti v Ústí nad Orlicí jako obraz dějin římskokatolické církve v Československu v letech 1927-1963 / Parish history in Ústí nad Orlicí and the Roman Catholic Church Czechoslovakia in years 1927-1963

Sklenář, Michal January 2017 (has links)
The dissertation shows one of the possible portraits of the history of the Roman Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia between the years 1927-1963. On the example of Václav Boštík (1897-1963), the dean in Ústí nad Orlicí between the years 1934-1942 and 1945-1961, the thesis focuses on continuities and discontinuities in the history of the local Roman Catholic parish. The presented analysis combines the socio-historical, microhistorical and biographical approach, by means of which it shows pastoral and other strategies of dean Václav Boštík - an ecclesiastical administrator and statutory representative - in various situations during the first two-thirds of the twentieth century. Local events are interconnected with the context of Czech ecclesiastical history at the statewide and diocesan level as well as with a broker context of Church history. Key words 20th century, the Roman Catholic Church, Czechoslowakia, communism, Ústí nad Orlicí, Václav Boštík (1897-1963)

Permutation and performance of the dead body: materiality, science and consumption of the corpse in Latin American art at the end of the century

Calles Izquierdo, Jennifer January 2023 (has links)
In this dissertation, I study the corpse as a material in Latin American art at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. On the one hand, I show that this is a social analyzer of the terrible consequences of dictatorships, neoliberal policies, and criminal violence on the continent. On the other hand, applying the theory of new materialism and focusing on the presence of the dead body -human or non-human- in the work of artists such as Nicola Costantino, José Antonio Hernández Díez, Teresa Margolles, María Fernanda Cardoso, Arturo Duclos, or Nicolás Lamas, among others, I develop what I call corpse art. As I argue, the impact of this art consists in challenging the limits of the body and its traditional binomials (surface-depth, organic-inorganic, living-dead) using the material capacities of skin, flesh, and bones. The material deployment of the corpse, as well as the re-appropriation of scientific and commercial techniques, put artistic media, their specificities, and their autonomies in crisis. But in addition, this corpse art allows also us to reflect on the manipulation of bodies and power ties that produce objects and merchandise of desire in the Latin American context.

John F. Kennedy's senatorial years : a research paper

Millage, Philip John January 1977 (has links)
This thesis attempts to construct a complete study of John F. Kennedy's senatorial years. The study uncovers relevant material pertinent to Kennedy's senatorial involvement. By examining a vast amount of material, it was possible to construct an overview of Kennedy's career in the United States Senate. This thesis accurately indicates John F. Kennedy's ideology, record, and role within the Senate.John F. Kennedy is depicted as the political man. The pressures that influenced his decisions are discussed. Decisions are not made without consequences and, therefore, the consequences of his decisions are included. He was a man motivated by power, and power became one of his major ambitions. Kennedy's career was evolutionary, and as the years passed, he became a well-known senator. As his career broadened, so did his perspective. This paper develops a picture of Kennedy's aspirations as opposed to his political successes.

Palma Paz, Alejandro January 2016 (has links)

Hormazábal Donoso, Elisa, Palacios Méndez, Marielsa January 2006 (has links)
