La chanson traditionnelle à sujet religieux

Roberge, Carmen 25 May 2024 (has links)
»--Page 7

A study of grievance procedure dimensionality in a non-union setting

Murrmann, Suzanne Karsa January 1985 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to analyze a nonunion grievance procedure and its relationship to employee attitudes toward their jobs and toward unionization. The analysis had three main focuses of concern. First, an investigation was made of the underlying dimensions of grievance procedures. Second, an assessment was made of employee satisfaction with a unique grievance procedure established for their use. Areas of inquiry were selected based on the concept of procedure multidimensionality. Third, the relationship between employee perceptions of the grievance procedure, job satisfaction, and employee attitudes toward union representation were investigated. This line of inquiry was based on the proposition that the availability of a grievance procedure in a nonunion setting reduces the likelihood that employees will perceive a need for union representation, and that the strength of this association depends on the procedure's acceptability to the employees. The findings show the presence of five salient subdimensions of grievance procedures, that is, critical elements necessary for such a system to be judged acceptable for use by employees for resolving work related problems. Moreover, the data lends strong support for the belief that satisfaction with a grievance procedure available for use is strongly associated with an individual's intention to vote for representation by a labor union if given the opportunity to do so. / Ph. A study of the relationship between teachers' attitudes toward collective action and selected demographic variables

Walker, Natialy Anne January 1985 (has links)
Incidences of collective bargaining, strikes, and other union activities by public school teachers have multiplied rapidly across this country. By the 1979-1980 school year teacher strikes in this country reached a record high of 242. In addition, teachers had won the right to organize and to bargain collectively by statute in three-fifths of the nation's states by the end of the 1970s. However, in 1977 the Virginia State Supreme Court declared that the state could not delegate to local governing bodies or boards the right to bargain collectively with public employees. The purpose of this study was to investigate the specific attitudes held by public school teachers in Prince William County, Virginia to various forms of collective action. The secondary purpose of this descriptive research was to analyze the relationship between these teachers' attitudes toward collective action and selected demographic variables. A random sample of 322 teachers received the Demographic Questionnaire and Collective Action Survey. Responses were analyzed according to frequency distribution and stepwise multiple regression to determine significance between respondents' attitudes and demographic characteristics. The results of the multiple regression analysis determined that four demographic variables had a statistically significant relationship with scale score or total attitude toward collective action. These variables were political affiliation, social class, degree status, and place of birth. Overall, respondents held attitudes favorably disposed to collective action. / Ed. Toward successful housing strategies in Egypt

Saaid-Farahat, Nagia A. January 1985 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to develop a framework for Egyptian urban housing strategies, based on an understanding and consideration of critical factors that affect the success or failure of strategies. It is intended as a contribution toward modeling and demonstrating a necessary pattern of holistic strategic thinking. The need for the research in terms of the Egyptian housing situation and the varied approaches to the resolution of the housing problem is demonstrated. Also introduced are the general methodology and organization of the work. An integrated concept of housing as a need, a process and a product is presented and developed into a housing model applicable to Egypt and possibly other developing countries with similar circumstances. A main feature of the model is the critical impacting factors that affect the progression of housing strategies and which may ultimately determine their success or failure. The model and the methodological procedures derived from it, were applied to the Egyptian housing situation. Through reconnaissance of the Egyptian environment, historic analysis of past experience, and assessment of the current situation, a set of impacting factors were identified and analyzed. Implications of the research are discussed in relation to Egypt and other developing countries, and few personal recommendations are also presented. / Ph. D. / Page 123 missing.

Development of a microreactor system for unsteady-state Fischer- Tropsch synthesis

Whiting, Gary Ken January 1985 (has links)
Vibrofluidized microreactor systems have been developed for studies of unsteady-state Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. This development is aimed at preventing carbon deposition on a fused-iron catalyst in a novel reactor called the “heat-tray.” This reactor involves a supernatant gas flowing over a shallow fluidized bed of catalyst particles. Three systems were built: (1) a vibrofluidized-bed microreactor system for obtaining baseline carbon deposition infonnation under industrially important reaction conditions; (2) a sliding-plug vibrofluidized-bed microreactor system for rapid switching of feed gases in the F-T synthesis; and (3) a cold-flow microreactor model for studying the gas mixing characteristics of the sliding-plug vibrofluidized-bed microreactor. The results show that catalyst defluidization occurred under steady-state synthesis conditions below 395°C using a feed gas of H₂/CO ratio of 2:1 or less. Above 395°C, the probability of hydrocarbon chain growth (α) on the fused-iron catalyst was low enough (α < 0.50) to prevent accumulation of high-molecular-weight species that cause defluidization. Carbon deposition was rapid above 395°C when a feed gas of H₂/CO ratio of 2:1 or less was used. Spent catalyst fractions in the form of free-flowing catalyst and "bugdust" were quantitatively analyzed for carbon and iron. Mössbauer spectroscopic analysis of free-flowing catalyst showed mainly Hägg carbide (x-Fe₅C₂) and magnetite (Fe₃O₄) with a smaller fraction present as α-Fe. Scanning electron microscopic analysis of the bugdust revealed a mass of highly porous, fine particles with a high carbon content (18-30 wt%). Cold-flow microreactor model studies show that rapid (on the order of seconds), quantitative switching of feed gases over a vibrofluidized-bed of catalyst could be achieved. Vibrofluidization of the catalyst bed induced little backmixing of feed gas over the investigated flow-rate range of 417 to 1650 actual mm³/s. Further, cold-flow microreactor model studies showed intense solid mixing when a -150+300 µ bed of fused-iron catalyst was vibrofluidized at 24 cycles per second with a peak-to-peak amplitude of 4 mm. The development of this microreactor system has provided an easy way of accurately determining integral fluid-bed kinetics in a laboratory reactor. Further, the unique ability of the microreactor system to rapidly switch feed gases over an intensely-mixed solid has important applications in chemical kinetics and reaction engineering. / Ph. D.

Childrearing practices associated with playfulness and Type A behavior in children

Moore, Amy Jo January 1985 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to assess the relationships among childrearing practices, children‘s levels of playfulness, and Type A behaviors. Parents of 83 children in grades kindergarten, two, and four completed a Q-sort on childrearing behaviors. The children‘s teachers completed rating scales for playfulness and Type A behaviors. Results indicated that there were no differences between males and females on playfulness or Type A behavior ratings. A difference was found between the three grades used in the study, with kindergarten children displaying the highest level of playfulness and second-graders displaying the lowest level of playfulness. In contrast, it was found that kindergarten children had the lowest rating of Type A behaviors while second-graders had the highest. Parenting styles were not found to differ according to the sex or grade level of the child. when childrearing behaviors were examined, results indicated that playful children had parents who used rational guidance, expressed affect, and were open to experience. Children who were low in playfulness had parents who emphasized early training and used control. When playfulness was analyzed according to specific definitional criteria it was found that parents who encouraged independence had children who were high in their use of pretense and free from external rules. Additionally, results showed that parents who used control and emphasized early training had children who were more literal in their play, more extrinsically motivated, and more bound to external rules. Similarly, parents who worried about their children had children who were more extrinsically motivated and bound by external rules. It was also found that parents who used negative affect had children who used literal rather than pretend behaviors in their play. The use of rational guidance in parenting was found to be positively related to children with Type A behaviors. It was found that children who were high in Type A behaviors displayed a high level of playfulness. Children high in Type A behaviors were found to be more actively involved in their play, use pretense more often than literal behaviors, V, and have a higher degree of involvement in the activity. A part of Type A behavior, impatience/aggression, was found to be high in children who were extrinsically motivated and more prone to play rather than explore. / Ph. D. / incomplete_metadata
