Madame Sylvia and the bird : a step into 3D animation

Bazard, Audrey-Anne January 2006 (has links)
This creative project is a 3D animated short created in Softimage XSI. It tells the humoristic story of an old lady, Madame Sylvia, and a bird, who are trying to find their place in society and do not succeed. Madame Sylvia is an old surly woman who tries to be like the stereotyped image of the nice old lady feeding birds in a park. The bird on the contrary tries to differentiate himself from his fellow sparrows by acting differently. The humoristic denouement of the story shows that pretending to be someone else might not be the solution to fit into society. The piece lasts two and a half minutes. It has been put together in Encore on a DVD that presents special features including a gallery of illustrations and the storyboard drawn by the writer. / Department of Telecommunications

Hjertberg, Jenny January 2016 (has links)
<p>SO</p>

Progressive product reduction for polynomial basis multiplication over GF(3m)

Moeen, Kareem 09 December 2016 (has links)
Galois fields are essential blocks of building many of cryptographic schemes. The main advantage of applying Galois fields over cryptographic applications are to reduce cost and increase the sufficiency of the performance. In past, they were interested in implement Galois field of characteristic 2 in most of the crypto-system application, but in the meantime, the researcher started to work on Galois field of odd characteristics which it has applications in many areas like Elliptic Curve Cryptography, Identity-based Encryption, Short Signature Schemes and etc. In this thesis, an odd characteristic Galois field was implemented. In particular, this thesis focuses on implementation of multiplication and reduction on GF(3m). Overview about the thesis idea was presented in the beginning. Finite field arithmetic was discussed where it shows some of the Galois fields important definitions and properties. In addition, irreducible polynomials over GF(p) where p is prime and the basic additional and multiplication over GF(pm) was discussed as well. Introduction to the proposed implementation started with the arithmetic of the Galois field characteristics 3. The problem formulation introduced by its mathematical representation and the Progressive Product Reduction (PPR) technique which is the technique used in this thesis. Implement three different semi-systolic arrays architecture with different projection functions. This stage followed by modeling assumption for complexity analysis for both area and delay where it used to compare proposed designs with other published designs. Proposed design gets verified by Matlab code implementation at the end of this thesis. / Graduate / Kareem.moeen@gmail.com

The Effectiveness of Substance use Measures in the Detection of Denial and Partial Denial

Wooley, Chelsea Nichole 05 1900 (has links)
Many substance users deny their substance use to avoid negative consequences, thus diluting the accuracy of assessment. To address this issue, indirect items are often included on substance use measures to identify those who deny their use. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of complete denial and partial denial on substance use measures. Partial denial, also termed denial of effects, is the denial of substance use interfering in multiple domains of a person's functioning. The study used a mixed within- and between-subjects design with participants from a dual diagnosis inpatient unit. Each participant completed the study under two different conditions which include an honest condition and an experimental condition (either complete denial or partial denial). Results show that partial denial is distinctly different from complete denial across three self-report substance use measures. Importantly, substance users engaging in these denial conditions were often undetected by these measures.

Nanophotointerrupteur avec optique intégrée pour échantillonnage hyperfréquence / Nanophotoswitch with integrated optics for the optical sampling of high frequencies

Pagies, Antoine 09 December 2011 (has links)
This thesis presents a nanophotoswitch with integrated optics for the optical sampling of radar signals. The photoswitch is a microwave coplanar waveguide fabricated on a semi-insulating GaAs substrate or a low temperature GaAs substrate, which has a gap that can be either top illuminated by an optical fiber or illuminated by an integrated optical waveguide. We started with semi-insulating GaAs devices. The center conductor of the first components has two triangular microwave tapers with a submicronic gap located at the center. We measured an ON/OFF ratio greater than 13 dB up to 20 GHz, by top illumination. We worked on the geometry of the coplanar waveguide. We particularly studied exponential and sinusoidal tapers and the effect of a decrease of the conductor spacing. We have measured a 32 dB ON/OFF ratio up to 20 GHz, and 6.5 dB of insertion losses. We studied by beam propagation method different types of dielectric guides. For the integrated device, we chose nanowaveguides with a Si3N4 core buried in a SiO2 matrix, which can be fabricated on a gold deposit. We measured an ON/OFF ratio greater than 25 dB up to 20 GHz.Nanophotoswitches built on a low temperature GaAs substrate have been put into a sampling system comprising a femtosecond pulsed laser, and we have subsampled a 20 GHz signal with a 3.15 effective number of bits.
