Assessment of Water Footprint in Industrial Park : A Case Study of Yixing Economic Development Zone

Li, Ruisi January 2012 (has links)
This thesis has established models of water footprint in the Eco-industrial Park. The model was presented in three different levels, namely the level of Eco-industrial Park, the level of enterprises and the level of products. There are two parts of each model. The first part is the schema tization of different components of the water footprint. The second part is the mathematical model of water footprint counting.   After the models, we made several case studies using these m odels established in this thesis. The first case is the water footprint assessment of the Yixing Economic Development Zone (YEDZ). There are water footprints of the YEDZ in the year of 2009, 2012 and 2015 separately, which are 6787613.6 10 × m3,  61110018 10 × m3 and 62413749 10 ×  m3. Considering the different scales of the YE DZ, for example, the increasing industrial production and economic development, we also make the water footprints per capital of the YEDZ in the year of 2009, 2012 and 2015. The results are 19690.34 ×103m3/capita, 24667.07 ×103m3/capita and 48274.98 ×103m3/capita.  In the level of Eco-industrial Park,  we take several enterprises as case studies. The enterprises are within different types of industries including Chemical industry, Textile and dye ing industry, Optoelectronic industry, and Mechanical, Photovoltaic industry and machinery manufacture industry, etc. These enterprises are investigated by surveys and statistical documents. From  the results, we can see that the enterprises with big footprint are mostly in Chemical industry, Textile and  dyeing industry and Photovoltaic industry.  In order to make the data more reasonable, we also calculated the water footprint per unit out-put value. What’s interesting, the enterprises in Chemical industry, Textile and dyeing industry and Photovoltaic industry also have big water footprint per unit out-put value.  In the level of product, we take the surfactants produced by Jiangsu Guanyang Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. This enterprise has moved to a new place and made some improvement in the production. On one hand, they have increased the scale of production for three times than before; on the other hand they have adopted a lot of water saving facilities and measures, such as the use of rain wa ter, the increase of water recycling and the involvement of water cascade utilization. So in this thesis, we comp ared the water footprint of surfactants before and after moving. The Water Footprint of surfactants per year before moving is 22914.8(m3), after moving is 56804.4 (m3). However, the Water Footprint of surfactants before moving  is  2.52 (m3/t), while after moving is 2.08 (m3/t).  Finally, we gave some response options after the analysis and discussion of the results. The suggestions are given in three levels as well. The first one is to the gov ernment or so-called policy makers; the second one is to the enterprises; the third one is to the staff members in the Yixing Economic Development Zone.

Trekantsparken som delad plats? : En studie av intressemotsättningar i ett offentligt rum och hur dessa hanteras i planeringen

Larsson, Ida January 2009 (has links)

A Study of Rental and Vacancy Rate in Office Market of CBD and Suburban Technology Park- A Case Study of the Taipei Office Market

Chan, Chung-man 25 August 2011 (has links)
Office is a necessary workplace for corporate business operation in current commercial market, the maturity of office market development reflects the economy and commercial development status in different markets. The application of transacted office rental and vacancy rate as a primary data is relatively rare in pervious domestic literatures due to the difficultly of primary data collection. Therefore, the study of the correlation between office rental and vacancy rate by using primary data analysis is one of the research focus. Moreover, the lack of land supply for office development in Taipei CBD led to a rapid growth for suburban technology parks in the past decade. Corporate occupiers may relocate from the CBD to suburban technology parks due to competitive rental, improved public transportation network and information technology infrastructure. Therefore, the study of the correlation between suburban technology parks¡¦ office new supply and CBD Grade A office vacancy rate is another research focus in this thesis. The scope of study covers the Taipei CBD office submarkets and Neihu Technology Park and Nankang Software Park within suburban of Taipei City. The research method includes a literature review, market overview of CBD and suburban technology parks and empirical analysis of research data. By using correlation coefficient and ordinary least squares methods to analyze the factors, there are two finding revealed in the empirical results. Firstly, the empirical results revealed that the relationship between Taipei CBD Grade A office rental and vacancy rate is negative. Rental drop while vacancy increasing and oppositely rental increase while vacancy rate decline. The grade A rental may drop NT$27.16 per ping per month when Grade A vacancy rate increase 1%. Secondly, the empirical results revealed that the relationship between suburban technology parks¡¦ office new supply and CBD Grade A office vacancy rate is positive. The Grade A office vacancy rate may increase 1.53% when suburban technology parks increase 10,000 pings office new supply. NT$27.16 per ping per month when grade A vacancy rate increase 1%. It would be helpful for making business decisions on office leasing, real estate development and property investment if corporate occupiers, real estate developer and investor have more knowledge on office market vacancy rate and new supply information.

Assessing the impact of feral hog populations on the natural resources of Big Thicket National Preserve

Chavarria, Pedro Mazier 15 May 2009 (has links)
The Big Thicket National Preserve (BTNP) is a unit of the National Park Service whose mission prioritizes conservation of its wildlands in the United States. One threat to natural resources of the BTNP has been impacts associated with feral hog (Sus scrofa) activities. Population numbers of this non-native game species have increased throughout Texas, including areas within the preserve. Recreational hunting permitted by the BTNP has served as a means of controlling hog numbers, although the reported amounts of hog damage to park resources appear to have increased in recent years. Population reduction of feral hogs and mitigation of their impacts require research that documents and validates feral hog impacts on park resources. Here, I evaluated (1) population trends of feral hogs for the past 20 years via data from hunter-card surveys and track-counts, and (2) feral hog impacts on native vegetation for 3 management units of the BTNP. Results from my analysis suggest a nearly 3-fold increase in hog numbers throughout the preserve since 1981. The overall damage to vegetation from hog rooting or wallowing averaged to 28% among the 3 units of the BTNP. Landscape features such as topography, soil moisture, soil type, and dominant vegetative cover types were used to predict hog damage. Floodplains had the most damage in the Big Sandy unit (45%), while flatlands were mostly impacted in the Turkey Creek unit (46%), and uplands in the Lance Rosier unit (32%). Vegetative cover was an important variable in explaining variation in hog damage throughout the 3 units of the preserve. Impacts were more widespread across different vegetative strata than previously believed. Study results also support the premise that hog damage in the BTNP parallels the increase in hog abundance over the past 20 years. A more aggressive program for population reduction of feral hogs and mitigation of their impacts is recommended for the BTNP to continue to meet its legal mandates for conservation.

Studying on Development and Utilization Molds of National Land--Example pf Ting Pu High-tech Industrial Park

Chieh, Lin-maw 14 July 2004 (has links)
Abstract National lands are important resources of a country as well as important tools of a government for implement of its policies. National lands are usually released in different ways and for development and utilization of different purposes from short-term lease to medium- or long-term lease; appraisal for superficies right; sale of land ownership; and from appropriation of lands to the competent authorities in charge of the relevant industries to management and operation of the lands by land authorities. Different ways of land release will bring about different policy effects and financial effects. Therefore, to attain certain goals of policies, the central government will make use of different ways to release lands for meeting different needs. In the past, when it is necessary to develop and utilize National lands for special development purposes, the public lands will become the targets of such development in most cases, and the competent government authorities in charge of the relevant industries usually play a leading role in the development. However, this is not the case in the recent ¡§Ting Pu High-tech Industrial Park Development Project¡¨ of Taipei County Government. In the project, the non-public lands became objectives of development rather than the public lands under the control of National Property Administration (NPA), Ministry of Finance. The project, through public selection procedure, recruits investors to participate in the development of the lands. As a result, three high-tech companies including Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. entered the park and built factories there. So the project should be considered as a successful case of land release. In recent years, NPA took over some lands from the Taiwan Provincial Government and commissioned the local governments to manage those lands. In addition, NPA started to take over the national assets from various organizations and state-run enterprises. It is anticipated that there will be a great deal of state-owned non-public lands to be released by NPA at the proper time and in proper ways for development and utilizations. In this way, the state-owned lands will have the opportunities to develop their functions. This study probes into the innovative development mold of Ting Pu High-tech Industrial Park and discuss the successful factors and existing problems of the park. It is hope that this study may provide the government a better method to create the utilization value of the lands and further to promote development of the country¡¦s economy and prosperity of the society. Finally, the research submits the following suggests: (1) The government should establish a land reserve system to enhance the power and function of land distribution and develop the functions of the public lands and its role in development of society and economy. (2) Currently, there are five types of industrial lands in the country, and they compete with one another to strive for resources and sources of customers. So, an integration of those lands becomes essential. (3) An incentive system should be established to encourage the local governments to take actions that suit local circumstances and develop the industries with local features. The government departments may also take the opportunities to release more public-owned lands for development and utilization of land in order to increase the land use value and create higher economic effect. The Study of Southern Science Park TFT-LCD Indstrial Cluster

-Wen, Zheng 20 July 2004 (has links)
The original of industrial cluster analysis is to distinguish what is cluster. It is developing to overview industrial district and to conclude the potential industry. In the light of these defects, we cloud improve them for industrial development. This industrial cluster analysis of variables by literatures, including of Industrial Concentration Factor, Cluster Dependency Factor, Economic Prosperity Factor, and four strategic resources that influence development of cluster, including of High Quality Human Resource, Technology and Knowledge Resource, Infrastructure, Capital. Using the questionnaire and interview with members in the cluster. The results of research: (1)There is a orientation of TFT-LCD industrial cluster in the Southern Science Park and show a vertical industrial cluster than horizontal cluster. (2)Material and Key part of equipment is complete and available, but there is only one application firm that produces large TFT-LCD. (3) TFT-LCD industry is important in the district and creating economic development. (4)It is difficult to find many talents about TFT-LCD industry and High Quality Human Resource is positive effect to this cluster.(5)As a result of TFT-LCD industry is at initial stage, they have less demand of Technology and Knowledge Resource, but it is increasing in the future.(6)The films are satisfied of water and electricity system, but they think that the staff cloud not get better quality of life in the district.(7) As a result of using capital without borders and Taiwan¡¦s government take TFT-LCD industry seriously, the films get capital smoothly. The Research of Resource of Tourism and Sustainable Development in Kenting

Shen, Chuan-Jung 20 June 2006 (has links)
Since the UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) took place in Rio De Janeiro in 1992, the concept of ¡§sustainable development¡¨ has gone deep into human minds. The countries all over the world make the efforts to consider the problem to the ¡§sustainable development¡¨ in their countries. Therefore, the concept of ¡§sustainable development¡¨ becomes the contemporary academic model. The concept of ¡§sustainable development¡¨ is not only limited to using in the ecological environmental protection, but also used in the harmonious development of economic society, ecological system, and living standard. The development of tourism pursues the increase of the quantity in economic growth; however, the ¡§sustainable development¡¨ emphasizes the promotion of the quality in all aspects. Although the increase of income is important, the human being¡¦s true happiness, people expect, is the promotion of the welfare in all aspects. All economic and environmental policies have to be considered the future generations¡¦ welfare in order to help them preserve the possibility and flexibility in the most extensive choices. These policies can¡¦t be violated because of the excessive development. This research is aimed at discussing the tourism development of Kenting National Park and acceptation or rejection of the ecological conservation; in addition, in the opinion of the national park¡¦s ¡§sustainable development¡¨, try to think abut this problem to seek the balance between the tourism development and the ecological conservation. This paper adopts the research in the qualitative by gathering and reading about the documents, observing the site in person, collecting the problems. Moreover, by interviewing the government officials, the present proprietors, the local residents, the scholars, the experts, and so on, I organize into five issues: the usage of natural resources, economic development, beneficial conflict, the usage of nuclear energy and reprocessed energy, and the education about the ecology. These five issues, surrounding the concept of tourism resources, ecological conservation, and sustainable development, go on the analysis and the discussion in order to explain and clear the reason why the tourism and conservation do not conflict with each other. The result of this research is that the resource of the ecological tourism is the assets human beings possess, but it will exhaust as the economic activity causes the damage to the environment. The abundant natural ecology of Kenting provides us the development of tourism to flourish the local economy. Nevertheless, we can¡¦t destroy the natural ecological resources owing to the excessive development and the usage of the society. In order to achieve the goal of ¡§sustainable development¡¨ in tourism, we should carry out the education about the ecology so as to arouse the nationals to love their country and the nature. These are the most basic and solid methods of ¡§sustainable development¡¨ ¡iKey words¡j: the National Park, the resource(s) of tourism, ¡§sustainable development¡¨ , the ecological conservation.

Abstract Council For Economic And Development Executive Yuan established a new land-use scheme in National Comprehensive Development Plan on the purpose of preventing the resource depletion and environmental disasters resulting from improper land-use activities. In the land-use scheme the land resources are identified as ¡¥developable areas¡¦ and ¡¥restricted areas¡¦ according to their importance and fragility. The restricted areas are imposed strict land-use regulations for the purposes of resources conservation and preservation. Thus, this research worked on the bases of the regulated¡¦s opinions. This research starts with discussing the regulation policy theory, the literature on the theory of property rights and a conceptual framework for determining whether the invaded land property rights should be compensated, and for suggesting how to compensate if the compensation is required. Finally, this research applied the framework to the Shoushen National Park to discuss whether the land property rights invaded by the regulations should be compensated and what kind of compensation would be appropriated.
