The aim of this diploma thesis is to design and manufacture a small modular burglar alarm control panel with an emphasis on GSM communication functions. The first part of the thesis discusses history of control panels from the first attempts to present technologies. Also a classification of wired and wireless systems is defined. The second part contains an general proposal of the GSM-enabled panel design and description of the circuit. SIM 300C module has been chosen as a GSM terminal device. The final part contains description of key parts of the firmware and a detailed manual for end users. The proposed design has been realized and succesfully tested.

The alarm report visualization out of the Simotion system to WinnCC environment (which is not a client of OPC Alarms & Events server) is introduced here .

Many modern mobile communication devices are equipped with a GPS receiver and anavigation tool. These devices are useful when a user seeks to reach a specified destinationas soon as possible, but may not be so when he/she only needs to arrive at thedestination in time and wants to focus on some activities on the way. To deal with thislatter situation, a method and device called “Space Time Alarm Clock” is presented forhelping the user reach the destination by a specified deadline and inform the user aboutthe consequences of his/her decisions. It does so by continuously and efficiently computinghow much more time the user may stay at his/her current location without failing toreach the destination by the deadline. Furthermore, it determines the possible movementchoices that a user can make with regards to an underlying road network, it computesthe shortest travel time associated with each choice and informs the user about the consequencesof his/her decisions. Advantage of this approach is that it works completelyin the background so that the user‘s en-route activities will never be interfered with. The“Space Time Alarm Clock” was implemented for Stockholm, where it was tested.

Bakgrund: Medelåldern hos den äldre befolkningen har ökat och många äldre har som önskemål att få bo kvar i sina hem. Detta medför ett behov av fler anställda inom äldreomsorgen. Välfärdsteknik kan vara ett hjälpmedel vid äldrevård och betraktas som ett verktyg som kan bidra till att de äldre lättare kan bibehålla sin livskvalitet och självbestämmande.Syfte: Att beskriva de äldre personers upplevelser av välfärdsteknik i hemmet i form av robotar, digitala larm och övervakningssystem.Metod: En litteraturöversikt där resultatet är baserat på 15 vetenskapliga artiklar hämtade från databaserna CINAHL, PubMed och Scopus; nio kvalitativa, två kvantitativa och fyra mixade studier.Resultat: Resultatet delades in i tre huvudkategorier, äldres upplevelser av robotar, äldres upplevelser av digitala larm och äldres upplevelser av övervakningssystem. De äldres upplevelser identifierades vilket genererade i tre underkategorier för varje huvudkategori, acceptans och inställning, säkerhet och trygghet samt integritet och självständighet.Slutsats: Litteraturöversiktens resultat tyder på att välfärdsteknik generellt är accepterat hos den äldre generationen. Välfärdsteknik kan vara ett hjälpmedel som underlättar för de äldre att kunna bo kvar i sina hem. / Background: The average age of the elderly population has increased and many older people have a desire to stay in their homes. This leads to a need of more employees within the elderly care. Welfare technology can be helpful within the elderly care and is considered a tool that helps the elderly to maintain their quality of life and self-determination.Aim: The aim of this study is to describe older people’s experiences of welfare technology in the home with focus on robots, positioning alarm and monitoring system.Method: A literature review where the results are based on 15 scientific articles conducted from CINAHL, PubMed and Scopus database; nine qualitative, three quantitative and three mixed method study.Results: The results were chosen to be divided into three main categories, the elderly's experiences of robots, the elderly's experiences of digital alarms and the elderly's experiences of surveillance systems. The elderly's experiences were identified, which generated in three subcategories for each main categories, acceptance and attitude, safety and security, and integrity and independence.Conclusion: The study indicates that welfare technology is generally accepted by the older generation. Welfare technology can be an aid that makes it easier for the elderly to stay in their homes.

Utvärdering av larmgränser för extensometermätningar vid bergbyggande : En fallstudie vid Henriksdals reningsverk / Evaluation of alarm limits for extensometer measurements in rock engineering : A case study of Henriksdals wastewater treatment plant

Vid en ombyggnation av Henriksdals reningsverk har ett vertikalschakt utformats och anlagts. Under berguttaget tillämpades extensometermätningar för att följa upp deformationer i en bergpelare mot en befintlig tunnel. Mätningar utfördes automatiserat och regelbundet. För uppföljning av deformationer tillämpades tre larmnivåer avgränsade av två larmgränser vid 1.0 mm samt 3.0 mm deformation och var förbundna till olika motåtgärder. Målet med detta arbete harvarit att studera hur tillämpade larmgränser har presterat relativt dokumenterade och prognostiserade deformationer ur ett sannolikhetsbaserat perspektiv. Samt vid behov formulera och föreslå nya larmgränser. En litteraturstudie om modellering av bergmassor samt mekaniska egenskaper hos förekommande bergmassa av gnejs genomfördes. Därefter modellerades objektet för vidare numerisk analys genom FEM i Plaxis 3D. Med grund i uppställd modell kunde in-situ spänningsfältet skattas och modellen optimeras. En känslighetsanalys för bergmassans hållfasthetsparametrar utfördes och de fyra mest känsliga parametrarna: γ, ν, σci, Qbas, applicerades statistiskt i efterföljande studier. Föreslagna och tillämpade larmgränser studerades genom utförande av Monte Carlo-simuleringar. Använda deformationsbaserade larmgränser återfanns inte vara tillfredsställande och nya individuella töjningsbaserade gränsvärden framställdes. De ursprungliga deformationsbaserade larmgränserna resulterade för längre mätankare i utlösta larm och visades vara ouppnåeliga för kortare mätankare. En resulterande sannolikhet för överskridande av föreslagna varningsgränser vid dragtöjning skattades till storleksordningen 10−2 till 10−1 samt för stoppgränserna vid dragtöjning till 10−4. Sannolikheterna för överskridande av föreslagna larmgränser vid trycktöjning var inte möjliga att uppskatta för det studerade fallet. / During a rebuild of Henriksdal wastewater treatment plant, a vertical rock shaft was constructed. During the excavation, extensometers were used for monitoring deformations in a rock pillar against an existing tunnel. Measurements were automatically and regularly performed. Three alarm levels for follow up of the deformations were used and associated with different counter measures. The alarm levels were divided by two alarm limits at 1.0 mm and 3.0 mm deformation. The goal with this work was to study how the applied alarm limits from a probabilistic point of view have performed relative to obtained and forecasted deformations. And, if necessary, propose new alarm limits. A literature study about modeling of rock masses and mechanical properties of the occurring gneiss at site was performed. The object was thereafter modeled for further numerical analyzes using FEM in Plaxis 3D. Based on the performed model, the in-situ stress field could be estimated,and the model was further optimized. A sensitivity analysis of the rock mass strength parameters was conducted and the four most sensitive parameters: γ, ν, σci, Qbas, were applied as probabilistic in the following studies. Proposed and applied alarm limits were studied through Monte Carlo simulation. Applied deformation-based alarm limits were found not to be sufficient and two new strain-based were prescribed. The deformation-based limits were for the longer extensometer anchors resulting in triggered alarms and were only considered to be applicable for anchor lengths between 3.0 to 5.0 m. The probability of exceeding the proposed warning limits for tensile strain was estimated to be of a magnitude 10−2 to 10−1 and for the stop limits to be of a magnitude 10−4. The probabilities of exceeding the proposed alarm limits during compressive strain were not possible to estimate for the studied case.

The number of IoT systems in our homes has exploded in recent years. By 2025 it is expected that the number of IoT devices will reach 38 billion. Home alarm systems are an IoT product that has increased dramatically in number and complexity in recent years. Besides triggering an alarm when an intruder tries to break in, a modern system can now control your light bulbs, lock and unlock your front door remotely, and interact with your smart speaker. They are undeniably effective in deterring physical intrusion. However, given the recent rise in complexity how well do they hold up against cyber attacks? In this thesis, a smart home alarm system from SecuritasHome is examined. A comprehensive security analysis was performed using penetration testing techniques and threat modeling. The work focused mainly on radio frequency (RF) hacking against the systems RF communication. Among other things, a critical vulnerability was found in the proprietary RF protocol, allowing an attacker to disarm an armed system and thus completely bypass the system’s functionality. The security of the system was deemed to be lacking. / Antalet IoT system i våra hem har exploderat de senaste åren. Vid år 2025 förväntas antalet IoT enheter nå 38 miljarder. Hemlarmsystem är en typ av IoT-produkt som ökat dramatiskt i komplexitet på senare tid. Förutom att framkalla ett larm vid ett intrång kan ett modernt hemlamsystem numera kontrollera dina glödlampor, låsa och låsa upp din ytterdörr, samt kontrollera dina övervakningskameror. De är utan tvekan effektiva på att förhindra fysiska intrång, men hur väl står de emot cyberattacker? I denna uppsats undersöks ett hemlarmsystem från SecuritasHome. En utförlig säkerhetsanalys gjordes av systemet med penetrationstestnings-metodiker och hotmodellering. Arbetet fokuserade mestadels på radiovågshackning (RF) mot systemets RF-kommunikation. Bland annat hittades en kritiskt sårbarhet i systemets RF-protokoll som gör det möjligt för en angripare att avlarma ett larmat system, och därmed kringå hela systemets funktionalitet. Säkerheten av systemet bedömdes vara bristfällig.

Background: The VItal siGns monItoring with continuous puLse oximetry And wireless cliNiCian notification aftEr surgery (VIGILANCE) study was a randomized controlled trial designed to assess the impact of continuous vital sign monitoring with alerts to nursing staff on the incidence of postoperative complications in surgical ward patients. Multiple factors interfered with the eHealth intervention implementation and conduct of the VIGILANCE study. Through examination of these challenges, the overall aim of this thesis was to help foster an understanding of the difficulties related to eHealth intervention implementation. The specific objectives were to identify issues related to implementation of intervention system of the VIGILANCE study, and to evaluate the influence of these issues on intervention adoption. Methods: During the VIGILANCE study, issues affecting the implementation of the intervention were documented on case report forms, alarm event forms, and a nursing feedback questionnaire. In this thesis, the issues were identified and evaluated using the Clinical Adoption Framework. Results: The key issues identified include nursing workflow changes, patient withdrawal, wireless network connectivity, false alarms, monitor malfunction, probe issues, and wireless network standards. These issues affected the service, system and information quality. As a result, these issues impacted ‘access’ through decreased ability of nurses to make complete use of the monitors; ‘care quality’ of the trial intervention through decreased effectiveness; and ‘productivity’ through interference in the coordination of care, and thus decreased clinical adoption of the monitoring system. Conclusion: Patient monitoring with eHealth technology in surgical wards has the potential to improve patient outcomes. However, proper planning that includes engagement of front-line nurses, installation of appropriate wireless network infrastructure, and use of comfortable cableless devices are required to maximize the potential of continuous monitoring. / Thesis / Master of Science (MSc) / The VIGILANCE study was a randomized controlled trial assessing the impact of continuous vital signs monitoring with alerts to nurses on the incidence of postoperative complications in surgical ward patients. Analytic Assessment of Collision Avoidance Systems and Driver Dynamic Performance in Rear-End Crashes and Near-Crashes

Collision avoidance systems (CASs) are being developed and fielded to reduce the number and severity of rear-end crashes. Kinematic algorithms within CASs evaluate sensor input and apply assumptions describing human-response timing and deceleration to determine when an alert should be presented. This dissertation presents an analytic assessment of dynamic function and performance CASs and associated driver performance for preventing automotive rear-end crashes. A method for using naturalistic data in the evaluation of CAS algorithms is described and applied to three algorithms. Time-series parametric data collected during 13 rear-end crashes and 70 near-crashes are input into models of collision avoidance algorithms to determine when the alerts would have occurred. Algorithm performance is measured by estimating how much of the driving population would be able to respond in the time available between when an alert would occur and when braking was needed. A sensitivity analysis was performed to consider the effect of alternative inputs into the assessment method. The algorithms were found to warn in sufficient time to permit 50–70% of the population to avoid collision in similar scenarios. However, the accuracy of this estimate was limited because the tested algorithms were found to alert too frequently to be feasible. The response of the assessment method was most sensitive to differences in assumed response-time distributions and assumed driver braking levels. Low-speed crashes were not addressed by two of the algorithms. Analysis of the events revealed that the necessary avoidance deceleration based on kinematics was generally less than 2 s in duration. At the time of driver response, the time remaining to avoid collision using a 0.5g average deceleration ranged from â 1.1 s to 2.1 s. In 10 of 13 crashes, no driver response deceleration was present. Mean deceleration for the 70 near-crashes was 0.37g and maximum was 0.72g. A set of the events was developed to measure driver response time. The mean driver response time was 0.7 s to begin braking and 1.1 s to reach maximum deceleration. Implications for collision countermeasures are considered, response-time results are compared to previous distributions and future work is discussed. / Ph. D.
