Η Αντιγόνη του Ευριπίδη

Τζουμερκιώτη, Αρετή 17 September 2012 (has links)
The fragmentary Euripides’ tragedy Antigone is the subject of this work. First of all we study the legend, the mythical background and Euripides’ relation to the tradition. We will also draw material from the Greek-vase paintings and Hyginus’ fabulae 72. The date, the place, the plot reconstruction and dramatis personae, are examined too.

A Critique of Charitable Consciousness

Ianson, Chioke 06 April 2016 (has links)
Despite a legion of criticisms from frustrated and reflective practitioners of humanitarian aid working in Africa and elsewhere, the fundamental problems surrounding NGO aid work persist; a critical mass of westerners are insufficiently receptive to these voices. I will demonstrate that this lack of receptivity is due to a set of implicit and explicit ideological commitments that comprise what I call ‘Charitable Consciousness.’ In this project I will describe the history of humanitarianism in the west, the Hegelian perspective with which to understand this history, and nature and structure of Charitable Consciousness. I will uncover the consequences of inhabiting this ideology and close with suggestions on how to confront and transform this perspective so as to encourage more productive aid work in the Global South.

Antigone : a creative venture

Leach, Marian McArthur 01 January 1965 (has links)
Statement of the problem. It was the purpose of this study (l) to determine and illustrate the influence of time, culture and production situation upon the form and content of two plays based on the Greek legend of Antigone; the texts in question were those of Sophocles and Anouilh; and (2) to determine and illustrate the same influence of time, culture, and production situation upon the means of producing Lewis Galantiere's adaptation of Anouilh's Antigone at the University of the Pacific Play box in the Spring of 1965.

A Step Towards Reconciliation: Hegel&#039 / s Antigone And Ethical Life

Onem, Sinem 01 September 2012 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis focuses on Sophocles&rsquo / Antigone in the context of Hegel&rsquo / s reference to it in describing the ancient Greek ethical life in the chapter on &ldquo / Spirit&rdquo / of the Phenomenology of Spirit. While evaluating the ancient Greek ethical life as a moment on the way to Spirit&rsquo / s self-knowledge which dissolves through its own dialectics, Hegel describes the inherent contradictions of ancient Greek ethical life which cause its dissolution through Antigone. Antigone&rsquo / s act of mourning has a central position in the context of the supersession of these contradictions. The aim of this thesis is to understand the ancient Greek ethical life as Hegel describes it and to specify Antigone&rsquo / s position in this description.
