Rocha, Clayton Gilnei Martins January 2016 (has links)
In modern systems of intelligent maintenance the quality of a machine or equipment depends on the support that comes with this product, with the reliability and safety in the use of it. These requirements are sometimes not met and may be unavailable on some machines. This paper describes an approach using vibration signals collected in real-time with faults as a preliminary study for a deeper approach with the study of the methodology of accelerated life tests to assist during the operational life stage allowing the manufacturer the determination of the life cycles of product. The proposed approach built on previous experiences under development in the project Integration of Intelligent Systems of Maintenance and Chain of Supply of Spares. The objective of this work is to present preliminary results analyzing the variability of failure signatures of the damaged gears in order to allow the identification of product life cycles for specific parts of an electric actuator.

INFERENCE FOR ONE-SHOT DEVICE TESTING DATA

Ling, Man Ho 10 1900 (has links)

In this thesis, inferential methods for one-shot device testing data from accelerated life-test are developed. Due to constraints on time and budget, accelerated life-tests are commonly used to induce more failures within a reasonable amount of test-time for obtaining more lifetime information that will be especially useful in reliability analysis. One-shot devices, which can be used only once as they get destroyed immediately after testing, yield observations only on their condition and not on their real lifetimes. So, only binary response data are observed from an one-shot device testing experiment. Since no failure times of units are observed, we use the EM algorithm for determining the maximum likelihood estimates of the model parameters. Also, inference for the reliability at a mission time and the mean lifetime at normal operating conditions are also developed.

The thesis proceeds as follows. Chapter 2 considers the exponential distribution with single-stress relationship and develops inferential methods for the model parameters, the reliability and the mean lifetime. The results obtained by the EM algorithm are compared with those obtained from the Bayesian approach. A one-shot device testing data is analyzed by the proposed method and presented as an illustrative example. Next, in Chapter 3, the exponential distribution with multiple-stress relationship is considered and corresponding inferential results are developed. Jackknife technique is described for the bias reduction in the developed estimates. Interval estimation for the reliability and the mean lifetime are also discussed based on observed information matrix, jackknife technique, parametric bootstrap method, and transformation technique. Again, we present an example to illustrate all the inferential methods developed in this chapter. Chapter 4 considers the point and interval estimation for the one-shot device testing data under the Weibull distribution with multiple-stress relationship and illustrates the application of the proposed methods in a study involving the development of tumors in mice with respect to risk factors such as sex, strain of offspring, and dose effects of benzidine dihydrochloride. A Monte Carlo simulation study is also carried out to evaluate the performance of the EM estimates for different levels of reliability and different sample sizes. Chapter 5 describes a general algorithm for the determination of the optimal design of an accelerated life-test plan for one-shot device testing experiment. It is based on the asymptotic variance of the estimated reliability at a specific mission time. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the application of the algorithm. Finally, Chapter 6 presents some concluding remarks and some additional research problems that would be of interest for further study.
/ Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Localisation et évolution des sources de bruit en basses fréquences de HEMTs GaN sous contraintes électriques / Localization and evolution of low frequency noise sources of GaN HEMT under electrical stress

Sury, Charlotte 29 March 2011 (has links)
The HEMT based on GaN materials are very promising, speaking of performance in power and frequency. The challenge is to develop efficient and reliable GaN based technologies, to intagrate these transistors to power microwave circuits, especially in the telecommunications field and on harsh environment. The work was focused on the study of the location of low frequency noise sources, and their evolution after accelerated life tests. The electrical characterizations were performed on structures made on four different wafers, three based on the AlGaN/GaN heterostructure, and the fourth based on the AlInN/AlN/GaN heterostructure. Thanks to the achieved results, a method for modeling 1/f noise sources, located in the channel and in the ohmic contacts access areas, has been validated. Life tests under electrical stress have been performed to detect DC and excess noise degradation. These degradations are explained by combined effects of trapping and thermal phenomena, with the temperature as an acceleration factor of degradation.

Reliability prediction of electronic products combining models, lab testing and field data analysis

Choudhury, Noor January 2016 (has links)
At present there are different reliability standards that are being used for carrying out reliability prediction. They take into consideration different factors, environments and data sources to give reliability data for a wide range of electronic components. However, the users are not aware of the differences between the different reliability standards due to the absence of benchmarks of the reliability standards that would help classify and compare between them. This lack of benchmark denies the users the opportunity to have a top-down view of these different standards and choose the appropriate standard based on qualitative judgement in performing reliability prediction for a specific system. To addres this issue, the benchmark of a set of reliability standards are developed in this dissertation. The benchmark helps the users of the selected reliability standards understand the similarities and differences between them and based on the evaluation criterion defined can easily choose the appropriate standard for reliability prediction in different scenarios. Theoretical reliability prediction of two electronic products in Bombardier is performed using the standards that have been benchmarked. One of the products is matured with available incident report from the field while the other is a new product that is under development and yet to enter in service. The field failure data analysis of the matured product is then compared and correlated to the theoretical prediction. Adjustment factors are then derived to help bridge the gap between the theoretical reliability prediction and the reliability of the product in field conditions. Since the theoretical prediction of the product under development could not be used to compare and correlate any data due to unavailability, instead, the accelerated life test is used to find out the product reliability during its lifetime and find out any failure modes intrinsic to the board. A crucial objective is realized as an appropriate algorithm/model is found in order to correlate accelerated test temperature-cycles to real product temperature-cycles. The PUT has lead-free solder joints, hence, to see if any failures occurring due to solder joint fatigue has also been of interest. Additionally, reliability testing simulation is a performed in order to verify and validate the performance of the product under development during ALT. Finally, the goal of the thesis is achieved as separate models are proposed to predict product reliability for both matured products and products under development. This will assist the organization in realizing the goal of predicting their product reliability with better accuracy and confidence.
