Chang, Ching-ai 25 August 2008 (has links)
This study is based on The Theory of Reasoned Action targeting elementary school teachers. The influential impacts of ¡§Resist the attitude of knowledge sharing,¡¨ ¡¨ Resist the subjective standard of knowledge sharing,¡¨and " Resist the control of the cognition behavior of knowledge sharing¡¨ on ¡§Resist intention of knowledge sharing¡¨ were the main study. This research is based on related scholar's research and consulted of elementary school teacher's questionnaire of the inquisition of opinion emendation as the research tool. Teachers of public elementary schools in Taiwan were targeted and conveniented samply and 291 questionnaires were sufficient as the result of 84.34¢H% return rate. All the data were analyzed by the statistics software ¡VSPSS version and Linear Regression supported the hypothesis. The results of this study can be concluded as the following:1. ¡§Resist intention of knowledge sharing¡¨ has shown influence by¡§ Resist the attitude of knowledge sharing,¡¨ and¡¨ Resist the subjective standard of knowledge sharing,¡¨and " Resist the control of the cognition behavior of knowledge sharing¡¨ .2. ¡§Resist intention of knowledge sharing¡¨ has shown the strongest influence by¡§ Resist the attitude of knowledge sharing,¡¨ and then " Resist the control of the cognition behavior of knowledge sharing¡¨ and ¡¨ Resist the subjective standard of knowledge sharing,¡¨in terms of obvious positive impacts .

A Study of PBL Practice in General Education in Universities¡ÐA Case Study of ¡§Family and Human Relations: Guided Reading of Classic Plays¡¨

Lin, Hui-min 02 February 2010 (has links)
The purpose of education is to help students to prepare for solving problems. The traditional teaching methods, however, let teachers ignore this part and make students learn by rote without applying the knowledge in lives. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is different from the traditional teaching method. The course is centered on the students who decide what to learn themselves. By using group discussions, it initiates students¡¦ motivations to seek for knowledge actively, and improves their learning efficiency. This study was focused on the ¡§Family and Human Relations: Guided Reading of Classic Plays¡¨ provided by the Center for General Education of National Sun Yat-sen University in the second semester of 2008 academic year. It uses the students who took this class as examples to investigate which curriculum action is the most effective way to initiate their learning spirits, and what are the benefits for them in the PBL teaching method. The study will also raise some suggestions to improve the curriculum. In order to accomplish these purposes, the researcher applied the action research in this study and served as a teaching assistant to help the course design as well as to observe the students¡¦ behaviors. The study also adopted questionnaire survey, focus group interview, and students¡¦ learning portfolio to collect data. The research found: 1. the students in Taiwan consider that PBL can improve their self-learning sprits and promote multi-thinking characteristics; 2. the best way to utilize PBL teaching method and increase students¡¦ learning motivations is ¡§collecting and reading extracurricular materials,¡¨ and the most efficient ways to achieve this curriculum goals are ¡§problem discussion,¡¨ ¡§role playing,¡¨ ¡§characters¡¦ defense,¡¨ and ¡§extracurricular reading¡¨; 3. ¡§Family and Human Relations: Guided Reading of Classic Plays¡¨ is suitable for different genders and colleges¡¦ students together to form a diversified environment, which can promote the students¡¦ learning effectiveness and encourage their social abilities; 4. this curriculum can cultivate students¡¦ abilities of multi¡Vthinking, interpersonal intelligence, and solving problems. This course conforms to the principles of Taiwan¡¦s general education that emphasize to foster students¡¦ core competencies, and to breed their humanistic spirits and holistic care personalities.

Using the conditional reasoning test for aggression to predict corrective action requests in a sample of nuclear power plant employees

DeSimone, Justin A. 22 March 2010 (has links)
There have been a number of studies showing that the Conditional Reasoning Test for Aggression (CRT-A) is a valid measure of one's implicit preparedness to engage in activities that are intended to harm others. Few studies have examined the predictive power of subscales of the CRT-A. The purpose of this project is to examine the validity of the CRT-A and its subscales for predicting unnecessary corrective action requests filed in a sample of employees working in a nuclear power plant. Results indicate that the Powerlessness subscale differentiates employees who file unnecessary reports from employees who do not.

The aesthetics of code : on excellence in instrumental action

Pineiro, Erik January 2003 (has links)
<p>Software systems form an essential part of Western society, serving as tools to uphold institutions, processes andservices. It is understandable, therefore, that the mostfundamental aspects of programs are their function and utility. But they are not, however, the only things programmers areconcerned with when writing them.</p><p>On the contrary, programmers also discuss about many otheraspects of software, including the beauty of code. Theydistinguish between different programming styles and expresstheir personal preferences, often by way of admiring andvilifying other people's code. Programmers' identification withaesthetic preferences may give rise to vanity, to disagreementsso entrenched that they deserve the name of 'holy wars' and toother similar phenomena.</p><p>This thesis describes and analyses these phenomena, whichultimately originate in the human faculty to create andappreciate nuances, to become attached to them and to engage indisputes because of them - even infields as standardised ascomputer programming. Its aim is to expose the aesthetics ofcode, and in doing so, to discuss the symbolic aspects ofinstrumental action at large.</p><p><b>Keywords:</b>aesthetics, code, instrumental action, internet discussion fora, programming, symbolic action</p>

The Quest for Equilibrium : Towards an Understanding of Scalability and Sustainability for Mobile Learning

Wingkvist, Anna January 2008 (has links)
<p>The research presented in this thesis investigates the concept of sustainability in relation to mobile learning initiatives. Sustainability is seen as a key concept for mobile learning to gain acceptance. In linking sustainability to scalability, a term used to describe how well something can grow to suit an increasing complexity, a representation of this process is provided. In this thesis, this process is called ``the quest for equilibrium.''</p><p>A study was conducted of an actual mobile learning initiative that involved introducing podcasts as a supplement to traditional lectures in higher education. In following this initiative, thorough data gathering was conducted, utilizing the process of iterative cycles that characterizes the action research approach. In accordance, a literature survey was conducted, whereby leading publications in mobile learning were classified and analyzed according to the following criteria: Reflections, Frameworks, Scalability, and Sustainability.</p><p>As the mobile learning system evolved from idea to an actual empirical study, trying to understand this process became important. The insights gained during this research were used to develop a conceptual model that is based on the notion that the two concepts of Scalability and Sustainability can be linked to each other.</p><p>This conceptual model is presented describing how a mobile learning system evolves, from Idea, to Experiment, to Project, to Release. Further, each of the stages in this evolution is described by using four areas of concern: Technology, Learning, Social, and Organization.</p><p>Using the experience from a specific mobile learning initiative to define a conceptual model that then is used to describe the same initiative, was a way to bring together practice, theory, and research, thus provide reliable evidence for the model itself.</p><p>The conceptual model can serve as a thinking tool for mobile learning practitioners, to help address the complexity involved when undertaking new efforts and initiatives in this field.</p>
