A Model Study on Taiwanese Banking entering into Vietnamese Market: Taking the Corporate banking as an Example

Chen, Hung-ching 25 July 2008 (has links)
Vietnam has officially completed the bilateral negotiations with members of WTO on May 31, 2006. One of the commitments was to open the national financial market. In recent years, Vietnam has become the most popular market for Taiwanese banking to internationalize and expand their business due to the following reasons: the unopened financial market in China, the close relations between the financial industries in Taiwan and Vietnam, and the mission of ¡§Passing Experiences¡¨ by the officials of the Financial Supervisory Commission in Taiwan. Many Taiwanese banks have already set up branches or offices in Vietnam. Moreover, Cathay United Bank has cooperated with the national Incom Bank in Vietnam to establish the Indovina Bank. Vietnam has become one of the main profit-making overseas countries beyond Hong Kong, in the banking industry. According to the statistics, from 1988 to 2006, the investment of Taiwanese companies in Vietnam exceeded eight billion USD. Taiwan was the biggest foreign investment country in Vietnam. Vietnam has opened the flotation of foreign investment in recent years, and Taiwanese investment is the major source. Vietnam has become another main market for Taiwanese companies. On the other hand, these companies are the basic clients for Taiwanese banks in Vietnam. The study has taken Taiwanese banking as the main theme to discuss and analyze the entry models into the Vietnamese market to determine the possible problems and difficulties. Chapter II discusses the related theories and models of multinational companies in overseas markets. It also explains the internationalization process of banking, product lifespan and marketing strategies. Chapter III explains the recent economic development and investment environment as well as the present financial situation and banking regulations in Vietnam. Chapter IV discusses the banking business in Taiwan and investment in Vietnam. Chapter V analyzes all of the collected information and summarizes which models should be followed when entering the Vietnamese market, based on different competition advantages and entry timing of banks. Marketing strategies are also discussed. Chapter six is the conclusion and provides suggestions.

It calculates the availability of the production system which shows that maintenance system’s effectiveness. The quality rate calculations of the work stations show the conditions of the machines and the worker’s skill and the calculations of the performance efficiency of the work stations show the utilization of the machines. The result of this thesis after all the calculations of O.E.E. is that there is a problem in the utilization of the machines. Most of the time the machines remain idle or wait for the maintenance if it fails.</p>

An analysis of the barriers to UK small business web infrastructure development

Boyes, James Alfred January 2006 (has links)
This thesis analyses the Web infrastructure development process experienced by UK Small Businesses and considers the nature and impact of the barriers and problems that affect it. In doing so the thesis combines three previously disparate streams of research; research that considers the infrastructure development process, research that considers the benefits that become available via the use of an infrastructure and research that considers the barriers to benefit realisation. Analysis reveals that while the organisational advantages and benefits are well documented, Small Businesses routinely encounter problems to their realisation. Likewise, current developmental methodologies appear ill suited for use by Small Business. This thesis addresses those gaps within current knowledge and understanding. The study utilises a multiple case study research strategy. The research design utilises multiple data collection methods to triangulate the study data thereby corroborating the accuracy, veracity and parsimony of the study findings. The study findings reveal that the development process encompasses three stages, initial development, corrective development and long-term development. The findings also reveal that as the sophistication of an infrastructure is enhanced, increasingly sophisticated benefits become available. At the same time however, barriers to development will be encountered. Each can curtail benefit realisation or can block ongoing development entirely. Within the development process, the business's owner/manager is the driving force behind development and is motivated to undertake development because of the benefits that will bring to their organisation. The thesis makes a demonstrable contribution to knowledge because its combined analysis of three previously disparate streams of research is novel as is its depiction of a three stage Web infrastructure development process. Future work can build upon this study's findings by testing the theories developed within this thesis so that they can be generalised more widely.

Jansson, Sofie, Persson, Lovisa January 2015 (has links)
The competitive advantages of Sri Lanka's garment industry, and how these can lead to increased trade with Swedish companies, were examined through a study divided in two main parts. The research was carried out with a focus on the labour force and the social aspects of CSR. It was initiated in Sweden, where the goal was to investigate how Swedish companies select suppliers and what their requirements are in terms of code of conduct and social responsibility. In the following part of the study we examined the corresponding parts of Sri Lanka's garment industry. To identify the competitive advantages and potential problems, we conducted a study on three different factories in the country, where the owners, managers and workers were interviewed. To further expand the survey results we also interviewed additional stakeholders to the industry. In this case a trade union and an organization working in the garment industry. The collected data were analysed using selected parts of Porter's diamond and Carroll's CSR pyramid, as well as the Swedish companies' demands on the social aspects of CSR. In order to identify these requirements, interviews were conducted with four different people at the Swedish companies. We were also given access to documents with their code of conduct. Through our analysis we are able to identify the competitive advantages that exist within the industry. In addition to that we are able to identify the areas of the industry where problems exist today, but where Sri Lanka has the opportunity to strengthen its competitive advantages in order to become a more attractive partner for Swedish companies.
