Phone alert system

Rayapati, Anisha January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Computing and Information Sciences / Mitchell Neilsen / There has been vast growth in development of mobile applications over the past few years. Many competitors in this area are involved in research and development on new platforms and user experience. One such technology is Android, whose credit goes to the Internet giant Google. Android supports a variety of mobile phones and tablets many manufactured by distinguished companies. These phones are described as next generation mobiles [as described by Google]. Android, being open source and free to use platform, offers the developers a broad way to build different kind of applications. Currently, if a user leaves his/her mobile at home or some other place, there is no option for him/her to see the messages or missed calls until they get back home. To avoid such things, I have built an Android application where we can integrate the mobile phone with SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) email system so that the user will get the notification of email or SMS to their email client which is installed on his/her workstation. It will also allow the user to set the profile of the phone as Silent, Ring or Vibrate just by sending messages to the phone. The developed Android software allows users to start the app and give the desired email to which the notifications are to be sent. It will also allow saving the timings during which we need the notifications. The days on which the same notification alert is required can also be mentioned through the app. This will help users to track their mobile by changing its mode to ring just by sending a message.

Green Driving Application : Eco Driving

Ahmadi, Lina January 2016 (has links)
Eco-driving has acquired great importance in recent years because it is a way to reduce energy consumption that can be applied to any type of vehicle. However, for these rules to be applied requires a process of continuous learning and motivation. For this reason many eco-driving assistants have emerged. This paper presents Green Driving, a driver safety app for Android that detects inattentive driving behaviors and gives corresponding feedback to drivers, scoring their driving and alerting them in case their behaviors are unsafe.  It’s about changing a person’s driving behavior by providing some kind of advice to the driver.  I have worked on an algorithm that is meant to reduce the fuel consumption of users. The algorithm is deployed in an android application. This application “Green Driving” is aimed at users with cars. It is basically like an assistant, suggesting the user when he should make the right gear changes, when to increase/decrease speed and avoids hard braking and rapid acceleration and etc. It is in order to drive economically, ecologic and in turn save money and safety. This is a smart way of letting a user drive economically and ecologic since almost everyone has an Android smartphone now.

Comparing Native and Hybrid Applications with focus on Features

Mohammadi Kho'i, Felix, Jahid, Jawed January 2016 (has links)
Nowadays smartphones and smartphone-applications are a part of our daily life. There are variety of different operating systems in the market that are unalike, which are an obstacle to developers when it comes to developing a single application for different operating system. Furthermore, hybrid application development has become a potential substitute. The evolution of new hybrid approach has made companies consider hybrid approach as a viable alternative when producing mobile applications. This research paper aims to compare native and hybrid application development on a feature level to provide scientific evidence for researchers and companies choosing application development approach as well as providing vital information about both native and hybrid applications. This study is based on both a literature study and an empirical study. The sources used are Summon@BTH, Google Scholar and IEEE Xplore. To select relevant articles, the Snowballing approach was used, with Inclusion and Exclusion criteria’s.The authors concluded that native development is a better way to develop more advanced applications which uses more device-hardware, while hybrid is a perfectly viable choice when developing content-centric applications.

The subject of the thesis under consideration is the development of an application on the operating system Android, for the heart rate measurement. Initially I studied the heart rate as a function of the human body ailments caused or potentially detected by it.I made reference to any portable electronic devices to measure as well as various technologies used in order to accomplish it. At the last part I analyze the technique of photoplethysmography. I later present the operating system Android and I analyze the general logic and the architecture of the applications developed for this software.I presented the Eclipse development platform and the additional possibilities obtained by adding the packet Android SDK. Finally, I demonstated an example of a user friendly application with basic structures used in the development of this application. I also presented the application logic developed. Basic principles of digital signal processing such as those used for signal processing of heart rate are analyzed automatically by the mechanism and finally the final conclusion, that is the way the application performs the final measurement,is exported.

Chen, Lingzhen January 2013 (has links)
In recent years, with the arrival of information era and the rapid development of the medical health system, there has been a trend for hospitals and medical care centers to record the patients’ medical record electronically rather than by means of old-fashioned paper-based method. It has indeed reduced the workload of medical workers and it simplifies the procedure within the medical system. It is worth mentioning that the growth of mobile medical care is beginning to catch up as a consequence of the incredible popularization of mobile networks and the broad use of mobile devices. A significant possibility is that in the coming years, mobile medical care applications will play a large part of the whole electronic medical care system. This project will mainly focus on presenting the process of developing an Android application of doctor’s end in the electronic healthcare system which makes it possible for doctors to retrieve data from their patients and diagnose them as well as setting up appointments using mobile devices. The development for the doctor’s end application will follow the waterfall development methodology. In this report the functions of the doctor’s end application will be introduced, and how these functions are realized will also be displayed in detail. After the implementation, the app will be tested on an Android device emulator and on real Android mobile devices in order to evaluate their performance. Hur forensiska verktyg påverkar integriteten på mobiltelefoner

Aronsson, John, Bolmér, Percy January 2016 (has links)
The rising use of smartphones and other mobile devices in society today has resulted in a higher prevalence of these in crimes and crime investigations. The information in these devices must be extracted and the integrity of the extracted information assured. The goal of this project is to determine whether the two forensic software programs Xry and Encase tamper with the extracted data. To answer this, a literary study together with an interview and two experiments were performed. The result from the experiments determined that data changes occured between extractions. Further analysis explained the changes to be caused by the devices themselves, and as a consequence of rooting. The conclusion drawn from the result was that the softwares programs did not tamper with the material during the extraction-process.

Rent a home: a cross platform mobile application to list and search rental homes

Ali, Yusuf January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Computing and Information Sciences / Daniel Andresen / Finding a desired off-campus home could be a difficult task for incoming students at K-State. This cross platform mobile application can help students in this task. This mobile application will serve as platform for students and home owners to find, list and review a property. Users can create their personal account and manage their profile and properties they listed. They can post multiple property listings with the key details and these listings will be visible to all the other users. To avoid spam and repetitive postings there is an address verification system in place. While posting a property listing the address is verified with Google maps database. If Google maps fail to identify the address or if that address is already listed, the user will not be allowed to list that property. Users can see all the property listings and their details including a Google map location image, a link to navigate to the address, contact details of the owner, reviews of other users. Users can rate a property from 1(low) to 5(high) along with an optional review. The review and rating can help other user to select a desired place to live. The user interface is developed with web technologies and using Cordova the same code can be used to convert it into a mobile application for both iOS and Android which makes this application platform independent and easily available.

Forensic Carving of Wireless Network Information from the Android Linux Kernel

Saltaformaggio, Brendan D. 01 May 2012 (has links)
Modern smartphones integrate ubiquitous access to voice, data, and email communication and allow users to rapidly handle both personal and corporate business affairs. This is possible because of the smartphone’s constant connectivity with the Internet. Digital forensic investigators have long understood the value of smartphones as forensic evidence, and this thesis seeks to provide new tools to increase the amount of evidence that one can obtain and analyze from an Android smartphone. Specifically, by using proven data carving algorithms we try to uncover information about the phone’s connection to wireless access points in a capture of the device’s volatile memory.
