Trajectory generation for safe overtaking maneuver inautonomous vehicles : Evaluated in lane merging scenario utilizing a trajectory planner

BHANA, MOAAJ January 2018 (has links)
More than 1.2 million people die each year due to road traffic injuries [1]. In order to reduce traffic accidents and human errors, autonomous vehicles is been the subject of intense research. To improve the driving experience, automotive companies have developed Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keeping Aid (LKA) which aim to make driving safer and more comfortable. One particularly interesting maneuver is the lane change. Lane change maneuver is one of the riskiest maneuvers that a driver has to perform on a highway, and can be perceived as challenging since it involves changes in both the longitudinal and lateral velocities, direction and as well as movement in the presence of other moving vehicles. This thesis seeks to evaluate how different prediction model of the trajectory planner will affect collision risk, comfort and result in an increasing rate of successful overtakes. An trajectory-planning algorithm will be reliable in making smarter decisions for performing a safe overtaking maneuver’s and constantly generate discrete trajectory profile with respect to the parameters of the vehicle in front. Future motion is predicted using prediction models linking control inputs, vehicle properties and external conditions to the evolution of the state of the vehicle. The vehicle should be able to avoid collisions at the point of convergence where two lane road merges into a single lane road and therefore, motion only in the longitudinal direction is considered for the evaluation. The prediction model chosen for this thesis is constant acceleration (CA) and constant velocity (CV). The project is part of a large EU-project called SafeCOP (Safe Cooperating CyberPhysical Systems) usingWireless Communication which aims at developing a complete prototype of an intelligent transport system. A great amount of trajectory generation techniques have been surveyed and quartic polynomial is selected for trajectory generation as it has many benefits of having a low computational cost and the continuous concatenation of curves is possible. It is important in the trajectory planner to cancel out trajectories which would dynamically not be feasible and result in an increase risk of collision with the surrounding vehicle. The two chosen prediction models were evaluated for three different scenarios on which they are tested and their results is compared. For the different scenarios addressed in this thesis Constant Acceleration (CA) prediction model gave better result when compared to Constant Velocity (CV) prediction model and had an lower risk of collision which increases the number of successful overtakes. While doing so the jerk dynamic constraints were always considered to ensure that the trajectory generated are within the comfort zone of the passenger.

Hager, Frida January 2023 (has links)

Rudqwist, Hilda January 2014 (has links)
In this report I explain how one can provide an illustrative material about the risks of solarium tanning. I describe how I, with the help of literature studies and other research, come to the conclusion of which visualization technique is best suited to provide a Middle school pupil the basic information of these risks.

Everyone-matlådan

Sandblad, Felicia, Hallgren, Frida January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this paper in the course PPU305 Product development - Construction is to develop a lunch box that allows the user to bring different kinds of food without having to bring several lunch boxes. The lunch boxes end up in the bottom of the bag or under a book and create a source of irritation for the user. This paper is a cooperation between the students and the company Nordiska Plast AB. The goal with this paper is to be able to answer the following two questions: What kind of lunch box is most suitable for students? And how should a lunchbox that separates cold and warm food when heated function and look like?   Based on these questions the group started a product development process, this process is built on six steps, 0-5. In step 0 the group planned the project and in step 1 the group's conclusion was to create two lunchboxes, one big and one small that are supposed to click together. The smaller one of the two should have a divider to separate sauce and salad. In step 2 the group developed a system for the two separate lunch boxes that allows them to click together with each other. The first system was not effective enough and the group had to do step 2 again. After step 2 was redone, the group started with step 3, the detail development of the product where they decided the material and volume of the box. The material was decided based on the material library that the company uses, the information given by the company was supported by the program Granta Edupack. In part 4 of the project the group 3D printed the lids and the lunchboxes to test and evaluate their concept. Part 5 wasn’t involved in this project. (Ulrich & Eppinger, 2012, s. 45)   The result of the first question: What kind of lunch box is most suitable for students? Is that the students want a lunch box that looks like the company’s Everyday box 1,1L. The students also want a colored lid that matches the box, so it is easier to find the right lid to the right box. The students want a two-component lid since it takes a little more power to put one of those lids on the lunchbox and that makes the lunchbox feel more secure.   The answer to question number two: How should a lunchbox that separates cold and warm food when heated function and look like? would be a lunch box that stores food in two different containers, one is created for warm food and the other one is created for cold food with a divider that allows the user to bring salad and sauce, for example. The design shouldn’t be complicated because that doesn’t make the lunch box more attractive for the customer.   The analysis of the result is that all the requirements of the requirement specification are accommodated except two, those can be seen in the requirement specification (see table 5). Those requirements were not prioritized so the group is happy with the result.    The conclusion of this project is that the group has learned to use the product development process in a professional way. The project has given the group the knowledge on how a product development process between a group and a company can look like.

Maleus Larsson, Hanna January 2021 (has links)
