Esta dissertação examina os conceitos que embasaram o projeto curatorial da 24ª Bienal de São Paulo, a última Bienal do século XX, realizada em 1998. Busca-se tirar o foco da análise unicamente da Antropofagia e do canibalismo para inserir a mostra no contexto do multiculturalismo. Parte-se do pressuposto de que o fenômeno do multiculturalismo, presente nas discussões políticas decorrentes das mudanças advindas da globalização e da consequente desterritorialização da arte no mundo contemporâneo, tornou anacrônica a tentativa de construção de identidades nacionais fixas, tema central do modernismo brasileiro. Nesse contexto, a 24ª Bienal teria se firmado internacionalmente não por estar centrada em um tema periférico da cultura brasileira, como pretendo comprovar, mas sim por inscrever-se no debate do multiculturalismo em tempos de globalização pós-colonial. / This dissertation (Antropophagy or Multiculturalism? Oswald de Andrade at 24th Biennial of São Paulo) examines the concepts behind the curatorial project of the 24th Biennial of Sao Paulo, the last Biennial of the twentieth century, held in 1998. The research aims to include the multiculturalism context in the discussion, taking of the focus of analysis based just on Antropophagy and cannibalism. It starts from the assumption that the phenomenon of multiculturalism, current in the politic discussions arising from the changes provoked by globalization and the consequent displacement of contemporary art in the world, became an anachronistic attempt to construct fixed national identities, central theme of Brazilian modernism. In this context, the 24th Biennial had established itself internationally not because it was centered on a peripheral issue of Brazilian culture but, as I intend to prove, by being part of the discussion of multiculturalism in times of post-colonial globalization.

O objetivo desta dissertação é investigar a relação conceitual entre a Antropofagia e a Cultura do Remix, entender os conflitos no campo do direito autoral provocados pelas práticas de compartilhamento cultural, assim como analisar as políticas culturais desenvolvidas pelo Ministério da Cultura durante o Governo Lula, para adequar a legislação autoral à Cultura Digital. Tendo como ponto de partida o Manifesto Antropofágico de Oswald de Andrade, a pesquisa buscou compreender a metáfora criada pelo poeta brasileiro para investigar como esta foi apropriada ao longo do tempo, chegando ao século 21 no contexto digital. Como os antropófagos, os usuários da internet se apropriam da cultura em processos colaborativos de hibridação cultural. As práticas que surgiram com a digitalização da cultura ocorrem à revelia dos direitos do autor, explodindo a noção de autoria ao transformá-la num território compartilhado entre amadores e profissionais. Tal realidade impacta a forma como a indústria cultural opera, causando uma guerra pelos direitos autorais. Neste conflito, o Estado brasileiro, por meio do Ministério da Cultura, conquista uma posição de destaque internacional ao se lançar o desafio de elaborar, em conjunto com a sociedade, políticas culturais para adaptar as leis autorais à cultura digital. / The goal of this dissertation is to investigate the conceptual relationship between Antropophagy and Remix Culture, to understand the conflicts in the field of copyright caused by cultural sharing practices, as well as to examine cultural policies developed by the Ministry of Culture during the Lula government, to adjust copyright law to digital culture. Taking as its starting point the Manifesto Antropofágico from Oswald de Andrade, the research sought to understand the metaphor created by the Brazilian poet to investigate how this was appropriated from time to time reaching the 21-century, in the digital context. Like the cannibals Internet users grab the culture in collaborative processes of cultural hybridization. The practices that have emerged with the digitization of culture occur despite copyrights, exploding the notion of authorship, turn it into a shared territory between amateurs and professionals. This reality impacts the way the cultural industry operates, causing a war by copyright. In this conflict, the Brazilian government, through the Ministry of Culture, wins a position of international prominence when it launched the challenge to develop, in conjunction with society, cultural policies to adapt copyright laws to digital culture.

The research seeks for the elements which may enlighten the subject who states his confession and also searches for the reasons that move him to act with violence against his listener. In Carneiro’s novel, the narrator presents this need to confess himself in order to inflict fear on a victim. Thus, a process akin to an antropophagic chain, in which the narrator swallows his listener while the reader swallows the narrator, was identified. The probed content of this paper has to do with the purposes that lead this confessor to enunciate a discourse full of justifications to his violence. Therefore, three goals can be distinguished in this research: to describe and analyze how the notion of hybridism appears in both narrative agencies: character’s discourse and literary form; to outline a profile that helps to access the subjectiveness of the narrator; to hypothesize what justify the adoption of confession followed by murderer as a solution to the dilemma of this confessor. In addition to these aims, there is the attempt of explaining in which ways this particular structure of the novel enables to name it contemporary. / Esta dissertação tem por objeto o discurso narrativo do narrador de Flávio Carneiro no romance A confissão. A pesquisa empreendida busca elementos que esclareçam quem é o sujeito que enuncia sua confissão e de onde vêm as motivações para a violência com que age. Na obra, há um narrador que tem a necessidade de confessar-se a uma ouvinte com o objetivo infligir-lhe medo. Observou-se assim um processo análogo ao de uma cadeia antropofágica em que o narrador devora sua ouvinte enquanto o leitor o devora. Investiga-se, portanto, o que leva esse sujeito a se valer de um discurso permeado de justificativas para a violência que usa como recurso de persuasão. Para isso, distinguem-se como objetivos desta pesquisa: descrição e análise de como a noção de hibridismo se estabelece nas instâncias narrativas do discurso da personagem e da forma literária; delimitação de um perfil que permita acessar a subjetividade do narrador; proposição de uma hipótese que justifique a adoção da confissão seguida do assassinato como solução para o dilema desse confessor. A todos esses objetivos permeia ainda a tentativa de explicar em que medida toda essa conformação da obra de Flávio Carneiro possibilita denominá-la contemporânea.

Teve o objetivo de explorar a discussão de problemas críticos, teóricos e historiográficos na obra de três críticos literários acadêmicos brasileiros de grande importância: Antonio Candido, Roberto Schwarz e Haroldo de Campos. Essa exploração se deu através de um ponto de vista que pretende ser, simultaneamente, crítico, teórico e historiográfico. Também teve o objetivo de mostrar como permanece na crítica literária acadêmica alguns dos mesmos problemas e dos mesmos dilemas nacionalistas que têm origem na primeira metade do século XIX. Buscou-se historiar, criticamente, o processo da constituição e desenvolvimento do propalado mal-estar intelectual que afeta intelectuais brasileiros de todos os matizes em razão daquilo que chamamos de cultura de ajustamento cultural e intelectual, mostrando que a reflexão sobre o mal-estar intelectual se tornou um valor próprio ao pensamento crítico literário brasileiro. Buscou-se, por fim, analisar a importância e a influência da Formação da literatura brasileira graças ao fato de o livro ter burlado o formato tradicional da historiografia literária nacional / Abstract: This study results from the research that aimed at studying, analyzing and interpreting the relationship between the Brazilian academic literary criticism and the presence and permanence of critical, theoretical and historiographical problems peculiar to the literary nationalism in the Brazilian culture of the second half of century XX. It aimed at exploring the discussion of critical, theoretical and historiographical problems in the work of three Brazilian academic literary critics of great importance: Antônio Cândido, Roberto Schwarz and Haroldo de Campos. This exploration was carried out through a viewpoint that intends to be, simultaneously, critical, theoretical and historiographical. It also had the purpose of showing how some of the same problems and of the same nationalisit dilemas stand in the academic literary critics, originated in the first half of century XX. The aim was to critically write down the process of constitution and development of the spread uneasiness that affects brazilian intellectuals of all shades due to the so called culture of cultural and intellectual adjustment, showing that the thought about the intellectual uneasiness has become a value peculiar to the brazilian critical literary thinking.
