Eine Herausforderung bei Online-Anwendungen ist die Motivation der Nutzenden aufrecht zu erhalten oder gar zu steigern. Zur Verfolgung derartiger Ziele wird vermehrt Gamification, der Einsatz von spieltypischen Elementen in einem spielfremden Kontext, verwendet (Deterding et al., 2011, Sailer, 2016). Gamification kann einen positiven Effekt auf das Erleben (z. B. Motivation, Vergnügen) und Verhalten (z. B. Effektivität des Lernens) ausüben, Kontext- und die Benutzermerkmale haben aber einen erheblichen Einfluss hinsichtlich der Wirksamkeit (Hamari, Koivisto & Sarsa, 2014). Einen anderen Ansatz zur Motivationsförderung verfolgt Grothe (2015). Er setzte erfolgreich Internet-Memes ein, um die Motivation bei der Bearbeitung eines Fragebogens aufrecht zu erhalten und somit die Abbruchquote zu verringern.

This paper presents a new approach for characterizing heat sealing processes in packaging machines, which identifies all appropriate and optimum sealing parameters subject to given quality criteria. The presented approach is distinct from established methods, such as heat seal curves or response surface plots, in three aspects: It provides an easy-to-read chart indicating optimum and appropriate settings of sealing temperature and dwell time, as well as process robustness for each parameter set. The data points of the charts are generated directly from experiments without using any regression model. The design of experiments features a determinate sequence of tests and no iterative loops are necessary. The approach stems from a ‘trade-off’ model of heat sealing and a specific multi-objective optimization method. This trade-off model states that improving seam quality, reducing sealing temperature, reducing dwell time, and increasing process robustness are conflicting objectives. This hypothesis is deduced from a literature review and verified by experiments. The optimization method claims that all optimum sealing parameters are part of the solution of a multi-objective optimization problem, the Pareto-frontier. This hypothesis is elaborated into a design of experiments using the normal-boundary-intersection method, and is verified using a peelable seam and tear seam scenario.

For many tasks in market research it is important to model customers and products as comparable instances. Usually, the integration of customers and products into one model is not trivial. In this paper, we will detail an approach for a combined vector space of customers and products based on word embeddings learned from receipt data. To highlight the strengths of this approach we propose four different applications: recommender systems, customer and product segmentation and purchase prediction. Experimental results on a real-world dataset with 200M order receipts for 2M customers show that our word embedding approach is promising and helps to improve the quality in these applications scenarios.

Die Sicherheit und Zuverlässigkeit von Anwendungen, welche schutzwürdige Daten verarbeiten, lässt sich durch die geschützte Verlagerung in die Cloud mit einer Kombination aus zielgrößenabhängiger Datenkodierung, kontinuierlicher mehrfacher Dienstauswahl, dienstabhängiger optimierter Datenverteilung und kodierungsabhängiger Algorithmen deutlich erhöhen und anwenderseitig kontrollieren. Die Kombination der Verfahren zu einer anwendungsintegrierten Stealth-Schutzschicht ist eine notwendige Grundlage für die Konstruktion sicherer Anwendungen mit zusicherbaren Sicherheitseigenschaften im Rahmen eines darauf angepassten Softwareentwicklungsprozesses. / The security and reliability of applications processing sensitive data can be significantly increased and controlled by the user by a combination of techniques. These encompass a targeted data coding, continuous multiple service selection, service-specific optimal data distribution and coding-specific algorithms. The combination of the techniques towards an application-integrated stealth protection layer is a necessary precondition for the construction of safe applications with guaranteeable safety properties in the context of a custom software development process.

Der Aufenthaltsort eines mobilen Benutzers stellt eine wichtige Information für Anwendungen aus den Bereichen Mobile Computing, Wearable Computing oder Ubiquitous Computing dar. Ist ein mobiles Endgerät in der Lage, die aktuelle Position des Benutzers zu bestimmen, kann diese Information von der Anwendung berücksichtigt werden -- man spricht dabei allgemein von ortsbezogenen Anwendungen. Eng verknüpft mit dem Begriff der ortsbezogenen Anwendung ist der Begriff des ortsbezogenen Dienstes. Hierbei handelt es sich beispielsweise um einen Dienst, der Informationen über den aktuellen Standort übermittelt. Mittlerweile werden solche Dienste kommerziell eingesetzt und erlauben etwa, dass ein Reisender ein Hotel, eine Tankstelle oder eine Apotheke in der näheren Umgebung findet. Man erwartet, nicht zuletzt durch die Einführung von LTE, ein großes Potenzial ortsbezogener Anwendungen für die Zukunft. Das jährlich stattfindende Fachgespräch "Ortsbezogene Anwendungen und Dienste" der GI/ITG-Fachgruppe Kommunikation und Verteilte Systeme hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, aktuelle Entwicklungen dieses Fachgebiets in einem breiten Teilnehmerkreis aus Industrie und Wissenschaft zu diskutieren. Der vorliegende Konferenzband fasst die Ergebnisse des neunten Fachgesprächs zusammen. / The location of a mobile user poses an important information for applications in the scope of Mobile Computung, Wearable Computing and Ubiquitous Computing. If a mobile device is able to determine the current location of its user, this information may be taken into account by an application. Such applications are called a location-based applications. Closely related to location-based applications are location-based services, which for example provides the user informations about his current location. Meanwhile such services are deployed commercially and enable travelers for example to find a hotel, a petrol station or a pharmacy in his vicinity. It is expected, not least because of the introduction of LTE, a great potential of locations-based applications in the future. The annual technical meeting "Location-based Applications and Services" of the GI/ITG specialized group "Communication and Dsitributed Systems" targets to discuss current evolutions in a broad group of participants assembling of industrial representatives and scientists. The present proceedings summarizes the result of the 9th annual meeting.

Mobile applications are developed to run on fast-evolving platforms, such as Android or iOS. Respective mobile devices are heterogeneous concerning hardware (e.g., sensors, displays, communication interfaces) and software, especially operating system functions. Software vendors cope with platform evolution and various hardware configurations by abstracting from these variable assets. However, they cannot be sure about their assumptions on the inner conformance of all device parts and that the application runs reliably on each of them—in consequence, comprehensive testing is required. Thereby, in testing, variability becomes tedious due to the large number of test cases required to validate behavior on all possible device configurations. In this paper, we provide remedy to this problem by combining model-based testing with variability concepts from Software Product Line engineering. For this purpose, we use feature-based test modeling to generate test cases from variable operational models for individual application configurations and versions. Furthermore, we illustrate our concepts using the commercial mobile application “runtastic” as example application.

The discourse presented here is aimed at examining the justification of applications of current analysis to real world problems.
