Laser scanning is known not to give good results with highly reflective surfaces. The issue is particularly visible when scanning with a close-range laser scanner, as the instrument is often used to digitalize objects of polished metal or other highly reflective material. In this case, it causes a significant increase of uncertainties and deviations. In some cases, it is not even possible to get data to work with. It is thus important to know how high reflectivity influences the results of laser scanning. The aim of this work was to investigate how deviations vary when scanning highly reflective surfaces. By knowing more about how influential different sources of uncertainties are on the use of a particular instrument, it is easier to decide on the right instrument and the right method for a particular project. The study was conducted by scanning and probing objects of different forms and reflectivities. The handheld line scanner Romer Absolute Arm with integrated scanner was used for scanning and probing. The data analysis was operated in Polyworks, which is the recommended software for the scanner. The results from the study show that scanning highly reflective surfaces gives poorer results than scanning surfaces with low reflectivity. However, the results can be improved by learning to use the scanner appropriately, and take into account the surface characteristics and the scanner’s settings. The conclusion is that the handheld scanner is a flexible and user-friendly instrument, but needs training and experience to be used at its full potential.

Experimental study of how a motorized lower spray arm affects energy usage, wash result and sound level in a household dishwasher : A 3-level full factorial design investigating the effects of water pressure, rotational velocity and wash time / Experimentell studie över hur en motoriserad nedre spolarm påverkar energianvändning, diskresultat och ljudnivå i en hushållsdiskmaskin : En 3-nivå full faktordesign som undersöker påverkan från vattentryck, rotationshastighet och disktidKarlsson, Karl-Johan January 2021 (has links)
As the energy efficiency of dishwashers continuously improves, differentmanufacturers need to find new innovative solutions to further improve thedishwashers. To do so one can divide the areas of improvement into 4 parameters, water temperature, washing time, chemical treatment and mechanical processing. In this thesis the focus lies on the mechanical processing and the washing time. The conventional spray arm of today's dishwashers sets its rotational velocitythrough the water pressure. To step away from this ASKO Appliances AB hasdeveloped a prototype with a motorized lower spray arm. The purpose of this studyis therefore to investigate how the motorized spray arm performs in terms of energyusage, wash results and sound. This when altering the factors water pressure, rotational velocity and washing time. To get reliable results with the least amount of tests, the methodology of Design ofExperiments was used through the software MODDE 7. A 3-level full factorialdesign was chosen. The three factors were varied in three levels -1, 0, 1 and fiveextra centerpoints were added resulting in a test schedule of 32 tests. To measurethe wash result a soiling method and an evaluation method was developed. Theresults of the executed test schedule was analysed through MODDEs in-builtregression model Multiple Linear Regression. The analysed test results showed that the wash time was the dominant factor forboth energy usage and wash result and the second most dominant factor was waterpressure. The rotational velocity had little to no effect on the energy usage and asmall effect on the wash result at a low water pressure but increasing effect for ahigher water pressure. The measured sound values were constant over time andincreased with both increased water pressure and rotational velocity. The optimalrunning conditions regarding wash result was investigated using MODDE and thentested. The optimal rotational velocity was the setting 1, the highest level, for allthree time settings. The optimal water pressure was in the mid to high region, andincreased with increasing wash time. The results from the three optimum tests for the prototype were then compared totests with a conventional dishwasher with a pressure driven spray arm. Theconventional dishwasher was runned with its normal running conditions for thethree different time settings. The prototype achieved a similar wash result as theconventional machine for the time setting -1 but slightly better for the time setting0 and 1. The energy usage for the prototype was a doubling of the conventionalmachines energy usage. The sound measurements were excluded due to muffelingdifferences between the machines

Komunikační a řídicí karta k elektronovému mikroskopu / Communication and control card for electron microscopeRobotka, Jan January 2011 (has links)
The main aim of this thesis is to design a communication and control card for an electron microscope, eventually for other equipments of the company Delong Instruments a.s., which is dealing with its development and production. This card should replace existing communication card because of its low computational performance. Also, it should replace control and measure card manned with A/D and D/A converters. Thus, the new card will be providing not only the communication with a superior PC and other electronic systems, but also the control of other subsystems of the electron microscope, the determining of processional states and the measuring of internal physical quantities. At the beginning the requirements were determined and the main concept was made with the inclusion of the simple block diagram. It was very important to choose a suitable microcontroller, which will be an intelligence of the whole card and so it will be the most important component. The accent was set mainly on the sufficient computational performance, high modularity of its periphery, good vision of the future innovation and support and, of course, the price. The next requirement was the implementation of the Ethernet, which will be used for the communication between the card and the superior PC. The microcontroller which was chosen have the core architecture ARM Cortex-M3 and it is described in separate chapter. The next part of this thesis is dealing with the main communication standard of the card, which is the Ethernet. After the general description, the Ethernet was mainly discussed in context of the chosen microcontroller. The possibilities of the application of higher layer TCP/IP protocols were also discussed. Implied part of the thesis was the selection of other important components, especially A/D and D/A converters. Its characteristics will have a big effect on the characteristics of the card. In the last and the most important phase the electrical scheme was designed and it was described in detail. This scheme is the main result of this thesis and it is the main document for the future realization. Designed card will be able to process and control 16 differential analogue input signals, 16 differential analogue output signals, 8 digital inputs, 8 simple digital outputs and 4 digital outputs triggered by optocouplers. It will be able to communicate with the superior PC over the Ethernet with the maximum bit rate of 100 Mbit/s, with other electronic cards over the serial line UART through the optical fibers and with other internal and external equipments over the RS-485 and RS-232.

Ovládání elektronických systémů přes webové rozhraní / Control of electronic systems via web interfaceDufek, Ladislav January 2011 (has links)
This master thesis goes into problematics of design of an electronic device control system and its realization. First of all its overall conception is specified and potential hardware platforms are analyzed afterwards. Based on this analysis the system’s final conception is drawn up, the device’s circuit layout is created and finally a functional prototype is manufactured. The later part of this thesis describes the software accessories and tools. The principles of a chosen operating system, management application and webbased interface are described along with the problems of authentization to solve. The proposed solutions for the authentization-specific tasks gave rise to the final implementation of the authentization methods and techniques.
