Daneri Hermosilla, Claudia 12 1900 (has links)

Larrere Salort, Catalina January 2017 (has links)

The movement characterized itself by political resistance, the denouncing and the defense of human rights, inspired by various groups in Chile and in other countries, such as Brazil. The experience of arpilleristas consists in what the British anthropologist Victor Turner would call a “social drama” (TURNER, 2005a, p.182). The goal of this research is to identify the possibilities of artistic practices in the arpilleras as events of cultural performativity in that we can observe the occurrence of a “social drama” according to the authors who have written in this field. The methodology chosen for this study was the cartographic method and the investigation tools we used were: observation, semi-structured interviews with the representatives of the movement of Brazilian arpilleristas (arpilleras do MAB) and of Chilean arpilleristas (Memorarte) as well with as the curator of current expositions in Northern Ireland, Roberta Bacic, and the curator and facilitator of expositions and workshops of arpilleras, Esther Conti; my participation in workshops of production of this technique, as well as photographs taken to register the process. We understand that the importance of this study to the interdisciplinary field of Cultural Performances is valuable because it delves into the social, political and artistic experiences which deals with significant transformations yet to be explored by the academic world at large as well as in our country.

Autoethnographic Study On The Process Of Creating Studio Work Using Personal Propriospect

Garcia, Maria T 03 May 2017 (has links)
The intent of this body of work and research is to reveal a process by which I can create work that reflects my point of view and background, or propriospect. This process of combining my Hispanic heritage and American upbringing is one I hope to model for my students in the art classroom. I created five works reflecting my personal point of view by combining techniques and styles used in my native Chile with some that I learned as I grew up in the United States. Through this study I determined a process by which my students can create work that is both personally significant and informative to the other students in the classroom.

Reconsidering Testimonial Forms and Social Justice: A Study of Official and Unofficial Testimony in Chile

Morris, T. Randahl C. 05 May 2012 (has links)
Testimony flows from a story that originates long before the opportunity to be a witness about human atrocities occurs. And, ironically, testimony – the voice that is suppressed during times of state sanctioned terror – continues to flow long after the perpetrators fade from power. It is this ethereal and enduring paradox that raises the questions of what testimonial forms are, how they communicate, and whether they positively impact social justice as evidenced by enhanced communicative freedoms. The testimonial forms of this study are narratives about human rights atrocities which emerged from the 17-year military junta in Chile led by Augusto Pinochet. This project examines the development and uses of official and unofficial testimony surrounding times of transitional justice using a multi-modal analysis incorporating narrative and historical analysis, communication ethics, and critical theory which yields a meta-analysis of testimony and the context in which it functions. This research concludes that a life cycle of testimony exists that is organic and evolving. Furthermore, due to the unique circumstances of transitional justice periods, a theory of testimony ethics is called for to increase individual communicative freedoms that lead to enhanced social justice as well as to increase the success of truth commission communication processes.

Constantino Figueroa, Anais January 2023 (has links)
