Artisans et industries en milieu rural au Québec avant 1851 : l'exemple de l'Île Jésus

Notre travail s'inscrit dans le courant d'étude qui vise à redécouvrir l'histoire rurale québécoise avant le milieu du XIXe siècle. Nous nous sommes intéressé à la population rurale non agricole, le secteur artisanal et industriel en particulier, à partir de l'exemple de l'île Jésus. Le mémoire poursuit trois axes de recherche. En premier lieu, nous avons cherché à mesurer l'importance et la vitalité de ce secteur d'activité. Nous avons pu voir que l'artisanat apparaissait de façon concomitante avec la formation d'une communauté dans la seigneurie. Au cours de la période étudiée, les artisans, loin de former un groupe marginal, représentent le deuxième groupe professionnel dans cette campagne. Jusqu'au milieu du XIXe siècle, leur vitalité ne se dément pas. Par ailleurs, dès le départ et tout au long de la période étudiée, ce groupe apparaît diversifié et capable de répondre à la demande d'une population agricole. Au fil du temps, cette diversité s'est étoffée et les artisans se sont progressivement spécialisés. Nous nous sommes ensuite interrogés sur la condition artisanale à l'île Jésus. À partir des contrats d'apprentissage, nous avons pu constater que les conditions de travail des aspirants au métier ne semblent pas s'être détériorées au fil de la période. Nous avons vu également le travail des artisans se modifier au cours de la période. Au début du XVIIIe siècle, les artisans semblent devoir être polyvalents et se consacrer à l'agriculture en parallèle de leur métier. En revanche, au cours de la période, ils se spécialisent progressivement et ils semblent abandonner leurs exploitations pour se consacrer à leur seul métier.Enfin, dans la première moitié du XIXe siècle, nous avons cherché à mesurer l'importance de l'industrie naissante dans cet espace et les transformations qu'elle apporte sur le groupe d'artisans, alors que parallèlement, la population connaît une forte croissance. Il semble qu'à l'île Jésus, l'industrie ait occupé une place marginale. Elle ne semble pas avoir pu représenter un exutoire à l'augmentation de la population. Social Media Strategies Used in Marketing Custom Bicycle Framebuilding Companies

Social media is a cost-effective marketing tool, and in a 2014 survey, 75% of small business owners reported that they used social media to market. However, many of these businesses merely set up social media profiles and do not use social media to its full potential. Microenterprise owners face barriers such as lack of time, financial resources, and marketing knowledge, preventing them from adopting social media as a marketing tool. This multiple case study explored what strategies microenterprise owners in the artisan economy need to market using social media. Data were collected from 5 custom bicycle framebuilders in a Southwestern U.S. state through semistructured interviews with open-ended questions. Company documents and social media reviews were also used for data collection and triangulation. The diffusion of innovations theory was the conceptual framework of this study to aid understanding of framebuilders' social media adoption process and social media usage. Thematic analysis identified 7 themes that emerged from the data: technological competence, the establishment of social media presence, effective utilization of social media platforms, effective communication skills, the establishment of brand identity, time management, and acquisition of external support. The study findings are expected to help artisan microenterprise owners harness social media and, in turn, improve business practices, increase sales, and promote their crafts, which may lead to positive social outcomes. The results of the study will assist artisan microenterprise owners source materials locally from other small businesses, a process that prevents money from leaving the local economy and helps to build strong communities.

This proposal was taken ahead by James Hillman, extending it for any types of psychic suffering: he suggested that let us see each one as a conscience style, with a proposal ethical and aesthetic that belongs to the suffering and not to its carrier. To compose a clinic that understands the integrant pathology as something in the life and of the life, instead of something to be terminated or to be cured. For this the Kairós Clinic-Workshop was created. As therapeutics, the carried through artisan work in set with a group of carriers of mental riots was chosen. The objective was built to excite a space of making, creating, to coexist, in contraposition to the usual inactivity, paralysis and isolation in the life of this population. Compor uma clínica que compreenda a patologia como algo integrante na vida e da vida, ao invés de algo a ser extirpado ou sanado. Para isto foi criada a Clínica-Oficina Kairós. Como terapêutica, foi escolhido o trabalho artesanal realizado em conjunto com um grupo de portadores de distúrbios mentais. O objetivo era suscitar um espaço do fazer, criar, conviver, em contraposição à inatividade, paralisia e isolamento costumeiros na vida desta população. Um desdobramento deste projeto resultou em um uma retomada crítica dos procedimentos clínicos consagrados e apontou caminhos para compor outras clínicas. The CTP is managed by the priorities of the National Water Resources Policy (PNRH), preservationist, as opposed to National Policy for the Sustainable Development of Fishing Activity (PNDSAP), for purposes of profiteering. The management of the Lagos São João River Basin by, CILSJ, prioritizes actions for the conservation and maintenance of water bodies for supplies, leaving in low priority the recovery of estuaries that launches the treated sewage and still untreated, precisely the places where it occurs fishing. The research subject was the representation of fishermen, who are the presidents of the colonies. Data collection occurred through interviews, direct observation, participant observation, documents, films, photographs, testimonials, also considering the actors in public management of local, state and federal fishing. The interviews were examined based on textual analysis. The research approach is qualitative. Artisanal fishing is practiced in the locality of small scale, using the fine craft, work occurs in communion and / or family. The co-management is a methodology for managing common resources most used nowadays in artisanal fisheries. The data revealed that the model of co-management of TCC is not adequate to mediate conflicts fishery in the locality. This study found that there is a union of the colonies through the CTP, but even so, the CTP mechanism does not allow greatest accomplishments are achieved by fishermen, given that the model of co-management is advisory only, where power public consultation, but makes the decision independently without sharing power management, thus no empowerment by fishermen. Thus, it is urgent to replace the co-management system exercised by the CTP, by a better one that allows greater participation of fishermen and not only their representations, management autonomy for fishermen, possibility of funding beyond preservation activities, but also to economic development of fisheries. Other models of co-management can substitute the CTP are the Extractive Reserve (RESEX), the Sustainable Development Reserve or Fishing Forum considering that these are the most successful models of co-management in the country and even in part of region, RESEX Arraial do Cabo. The confirmation of this study of the role played by the CTP regarding the co-management in LA is compatible with the shortcomings of the models the co-management of fisheries in Brazil, with less empowerment of fishermen against government and own submission and public fisheries management on public management environment. Although there is some academic research on fisheries, the literature on fisheries management in the city of LA is scarce, hampering the development of fisheries sustainability and the application of any management plan and indicates the urgency of the development of further investigation, in this work seeks to provide some contribution. / Este trabalho apresenta um estudo de caso sobre o papel da Câmara Técnica de Pesca (CTP) do Consórcio Intermunicipal Lagos São João (CILSJ) na mediação de conflitos de gestão da pesca artesanal na região da Lagoa de Araruama (LA). A CTP é gerida pelas prioridades da Política Nacional de Recursos Hídricos (PNRH), preservacionista, em oposição a Política Nacional de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da Atividade Pesqueira (PNDSAP), com fins de exploração econômica. Na Bacia Hidrográfica Lagos São João, o CILSJ, prioriza as ações de conservação e manutenção dos corpos de água para o abastecimento, deixando em segundo plano a recuperação dos estuários em que lança o esgoto tratado e o não tratado, justamente os locais onde ocorre a pesca. O sujeito da pesquisa foi a representação dos pescadores, que são os presidentes das colônias. O levantamento de dados ocorreu por meio de entrevistas, observação direta, observação participante, documentos, filmes, fotografias, depoimentos, considerando também os atores da gestão pública da pesca local, estadual e federal. As entrevistas foram examinadas com base em análise textual. A abordagem da pesquisa é qualitativa. A pesca artesanal praticada na localidade é de pequena escala, se utiliza de embarcações miúdas, o trabalho ocorre em regime de companha e/ou familiar. O co-manejo é a metodologia de gestão dos recursos comuns mais utilizadas na atualidade na pesca artesanal. Os dados revelaram que o modelo de co-manejo da CTP não é o mais adequado para mediar os conflitos da pesca na localidade. Este estudo constatou que existe a união das colônias por meio da CTP, mas mesmo assim, o mecanismo CTP, não permite que maiores conquistas sejam alcançadas pelos pescadores, tendo em vista que o modelo de co-manejo é apenas consultivo, em que o poder público consulta, mas toma a decisão de forma autônoma sem compartilhar o poder de gestão, desse modo não há o empoderamento por parte dos pescadores. Assim, se faz urgente a substituição do sistema de co-manejo exercido pela CTP, por outro que possibilite maior participação dos pescadores e não só das suas representações; autonomia de gestão dos pescadores; possibilidade de financiamento além das atividades de preservação, mas também de desenvolvimento econômico da pesca. Outros modelos de co-gestão passíveis de substituir a CTP são a Reserva Extrativista (RESEX), a Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável ou Fórum de Pesca tendo em vista serem esses os modelos de co-manejo mais bem sucedidos no país e inclusive em parte da região, a RESEX de Arraial do Cabo. A constatação desta pesquisa do papel exercido pela CTP no que tange o co-manejo na LA é compatível com as deficiências dos modelos de co-manejo da pesca no Brasil, com menor empoderamento dos pescadores diante do poder público e da própria submissão da gestão pública da pesca diante da gestão pública do ambiente. Apesar de haver certa produção acadêmica sobre a pesca, a literatura sobre a gestão da pesca na localidade da LA é escassa, o que dificulta o desenvolvimento da sustentabilidade pesqueira e da aplicação de qualquer plano de manejo e indica a urgência do desenvolvimento de maiores investigações, no que este trabalho procura oferecer alguma contribuição.

The way of life within Tanquã community is centered on the artisan fishery, which implies on the fabrication of their own corporal techniques, ways of production, knowledge, beliefs and habits all characterized as traditional. The deterioration of the aquatic ecosystem acts as a factor of dissolution in this way of life. On one hand, by compromising and restricting the use of natural resources and on the other hand, by demanding the modernization of such techniques so that the artisan fishery can gain additional life span. There is reluctance within the Tanquã that appears as representations of their universe, in the oral memory, and the extra-economic sociability, providing a counterview to a full commitment to the market rationality. Between the desire to resist, affirming itself as a valid way of life, and the need to adjust to the dynamics of macro social environments, the Tanquã community lives the duality of a collective identity, sometimes strengthen, and sometimes threatened. As a case study, the objective of this article presents a brief description and a sociological analysis of the process, from a qualitative approach, in which the oral account and the direct observation are blend to characterize the structure and the dynamics of social production of the community. / A intensificação nos múltiplos usos das águas na Bacia do Rio Piracicaba tem promovido alterações no ecossistema aquático com decorrente influência deletéria sobre os estoques dos recursos pesqueiros, o que implica em limitações na sobrevivência e reprodução social de comunidades tradicionais. A Comunidade Tanquã do Piracicaba têm o modo de vida centrado na pesca artesanal, afirmando-se nas práticas de trabalho que envolve a particularidade das técnicas corporais, dos meios de produção, saberes, crenças e hábitos caracterizados como tradicionais. A deterioração do ecossistema aquático age como um fator de dissolução deste modo de vida, de um lado comprometendo e restringindo o uso dos recursos naturais, e de outro exigindo a modernização de tais práticas para que a pesca artesanal alcance uma sobrevida. A resistência aparece nas representações de mundo, na memória oral, na sociabilidade extra-econômica, conferindo um contraponto a uma adesão plena à racionalidade de mercado. Entre o desejo de resistir, afirmando-se como um modo de vida válido, e a necessidade de ajustar-se à dinâmica socioambiental macro envolvente, que no caso se manifesta como deletéria à qualidade do ecossistema aquático, a comunidade do Tanquã vive na dualidade da identidade coletiva, que ora se reforça ora se sente ameaçada. Como um estudo de caso, esta dissertação objetiva apresentar uma descrição sucinta e uma análise sociológica do processo a partir de uma abordagem qualitativa de pesquisa, na qual os relatos orais e a observação direta mesclam-se para caracterizar a estrutura e a dinâmica da produção social do lugar.

Foram sorteados aleatoriamente 55 produtores cadastrados no Instituto Mineiro de Agropecuária (IMA) para participar da pesquisa. Os produtores responderam a um questionário e foi coletada uma amostra de queijo de cada propriedade para representá-la. Nas amostras de queijo coletadas, foram realizadas as análises de Reação de Cadeia da Polimerase (PCR) para C. burnetii e sequenciamento dos produtos de DNA amplificados. Os dados provenientes das entrevistas e resultados das análises laboratoriais, uma vez sistematizados, formaram a base de dados do trabalho. A presença de DNA de C. burnetii foi considerada a variável dependente e as variáveis explicativas foram divididas em três grupos hierárquicos: distal (socioeconômicas e demográficas), intermediário (produção de queijo) e proximal (características do rebanho, produção de leite e ordenha). Os fatores associados à presença de C. burnetii nos queijos foram identificados por análises de regressão logística univariada e multivariada. Do total de amostras analisadas (n = 53), cinco (9,43%) apresentaram DNA de C. burnetii confirmado por sequenciamento. Os fatores associados com a presença de DNA de C. burnetii nos queijos foram: uso do pingo (soro- fermento) para a fabricação dos queijos (OR= 12,09), tipo de ordenha (OR= (16,45) e número de vacas em lactação (OR= 1,05). As variáveis que permaneceram no modelo final como explicativas para presença de C. burnetii nos queijos foram: número de vacas em lactação, tipo de ordenha e uso do pingo. A presença de DNA de C. burnetii nos queijos artesanais enfatiza, por um lado, a necessidade de medidas de controle mais rigorosas para que essa bactéria não esteja presente nos rebanhos de propriedades produtoras de queijos artesanais. Por outro lado, o conhecimento dos fatores associados à presença de C. burnetii nos queijos artesanais poderá auxiliar no estabelecimento de medidas preventivas e na criação de novas normas e legislação para a produção de queijos artesanais, já que essa lacuna na legislação seria algo para reflexão, dada a importância da febre Q para a saúde pública. / The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence of Coxiella burnetii in Artisan Minas cheese of region of Serro and identify the factors associated with the presence of this organism in the properties studied. Were drawn at random 55 registered producers in the Instituto Mineiro de Agropecuária (IMA) to participate in the research. The producers responded to a questionnaire and was collected a sample of cheese at a property to represent her. The cheese samples collected, the analysis of reaction of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to C. burnetii and sequencing of amplified DNA products. Data from the interviews and results of laboratory tests, once organized, form the basis of work data. The presence of DNA of C. burnetii was considered as the dependent variable and the explanatory variables were divided into three groups: hierarchical distal (socioeconomic and demographic), intermediate (cheese production) and proximally (characteristics of the herd, milk production and milk). The factors associated with the presence of C. burnetii in cheeses were identified by analysis of univariate and multivariate logistic regression. Of the total samples analyzed (n = 53), five (9.43%) presented DNA of C. burnetii confirmed by sequencing. The factors associated with the presence of DNA of C. burnetii in cheeses were: use of the pingo (serum- baking) for the manufacture of the cheeses (OR = 12.09), type of milking (OR = (16.45) and number of lactating cows (OR = 1.05). The variables that remained in the final model as explanatory for the presence of C. burnetii in cheeses were: number of lactating cows, milking and type use the pingo. The presence of DNA of C. burnetii in artisanal cheeses emphasizes, on the one hand, the need for more stringent control measures so that this bacteria is not present in flocks of artisanal cheese-producing properties. On the other hand, the knowledge of the factors associated with the presence of C. burnetii in artisanal cheeses may assist in establishing preventive measures and the creation of new standards and legislation for the production of artisanal cheeses, since this gap in the legislation would be something for reflection, given the importance of Q fever to public health.

Natuzza, es un box de pizza que busca brindar la experiencia de comer una pizza de un modo diferente, te permite experimentar sabores refinados y que aporten de manera nutritiva al cuerpo dándole energía sin quitarle el rico gusto a pizza al que estamos acostumbrados. El producto se subdivide en dos diferentes tipos de boxes: All meats y Hawai. Cada box incluye dos masas de pizzas naturales hechas a base de harina de quinua, lo que la hace más saludables debido al menor porcentaje de gluten y menos calorías. Adicionalmente a las dos masas, se incluye, dependiendo del box, en el caso de All meats: salsa boloñesa especial, baja en calorías, con ingredientes orgánicos también, el box incluye toppings como, queso mozzarella, salchicha de pavo. Por otro lado, el box de Hawai contiene dos masas la salsa boloñesa, piña golden ahumada y jamón de pavita. Finalmente, Natuzza es un proyecto rentable y así lo muestran los indicadores financieros, obteniendo un VANE de S/. 11,368 y un TIRE de 27.86%, descontado con un WACC de 22.81%. Adoption of effective improved cookstoves in sub-Sahara Africa: case study in the Arua District

In rural areas of least developed countries, the preparation of meals remains the predominant energy consuming activity. Cooking is mostly performed with firewood – using the ancient “technology” of the 3-stone fire. This practice results in numerous challenges that hinder the transformation envisioned by the Millennium Development Goals and it therefore contributes towards slowing the development of rural areas. Activities focussing on amending this status-quo can be termed insufficient in scope- and sustainability. The main deficiencies of most projects are that the prime focus of the mainstream of these endeavours has been on demand side management, mainly performed by disseminating cookstoves, and that there has been little innovation in respect to raising stove adoption rates. As the strict efficiency focus obviously only captures one side of the problem – merely focussing on treating symptoms rather than providing an effective solution, this thesis stresses the need for a paradigm shift towards more holistic interventions. This work very much focuses on the topic of stove adoption. This is a complex topic - very much linked to attaining behavioural change. Deliberations concluded that the identification of enabling factors for adoption, which can be termed a prerequisite for developing sustainable methods for stove projects, requires a mix of instruments. To suffice the required data demand the initial literature review was complemented by a thorough assessment of the kitchen environment and the cooking behaviour of stove owners. The fieldwork concentrated on 210 beneficiaries of an efficient cookstove project. The applied methods included interviews, observations and pictorial documentation. As a remedy to the challenges and current shortcomings identified during field work and literature review, the author herein develops a novel and more holistic implementation strategy for stove projects – the so- called 3-Step approach. This is based on the simultaneous implementation of availing cookstoves, building capacity in respect to kitchen management, as well as performing small-scale household level tree planting. The research, which further encompassed the piloting of the 3-Step approach, led to the overall conclusion that the proposed increase in project scope holds a multitude of opportunities for improving the livelihoods of the rural target groups. The main impact of this innovative strategy lies in a decrease of average transaction costs as well as in a considerable increase in project sustainability. As will be extensively elaborated, the former is achieved by a more effective utilisation of the extensive infrastructure of trained artisans. The latter refers to the expected income increase on household level, as well as to improvements in environmental- and human health. In combination these enable rural communities to better adapt to climate change.

La industria de la moda es una de las más contaminantes del mundo, responsable de la contaminación ambiental, consumismo masivo y esclavitud moderna. Debido a esto, se desarrolló un nuevo concepto dentro de la moda, conocido como moda sostenible, la cual busca reducir el impacto que la industria está creando en el mundo y en la sociedad. Actualmente, son escasas las marcas peruanas de moda, que practican alguna de las ramas sostenibles, siendo estas: la ecológica, económica o social. En la presente investigación, se explorará específicamente la rama social, analizando cómo es que una marca peruana aplica este concepto dentro de sus métodos de trabajo. La empresa a estudiar, es Artemisa Grellaud, una marca de joyería artesanal. Es por ello, que la presente investigación tiene como objetivo general entender cómo se ha trabajado la sostenibilidad social en la marca Artemisa Grellaud. Para ello, se realizará un estudio de caso descriptivo, con el fin de analizar la marca desde diversas perspectivas, para lograr un mayor entendimiento sobre sus prácticas. Se realizarán diferentes técnicas de recolección de información, tanto como: observación, entrevistas y grupos focales, para crear un mayor acercamiento en el caso a realizar. / The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world, responsable for environmental pollution, mass consumerism and modern slavery. Due to this, a new concept was developed within fashion, known as sustainable fashion, which seeks to reduce the impact that the industry is creating in the world and in the society. Currently, there are few Peruvian fashion brands that practice any of the sustainable branches, these being: ecological, economic or social. In this research, the social branch will be specifically explored, analyzing how a Peruvian brand applies this concept within its working methods. The company to study is Artemisa Grellaud, a brand of artisan jewelry. That is why the general objective of this research is to understand how social sustainability has been worked on, in the brand Artemisa Grellaud. To do this, a descriptive case study will be carried out, in order to analyze the brand from different perspectives, to achieve a better understanding of its practices. L'instant plasticien : des temporalités poïétiques dans une pratique de la céramique raku / Plastician instant : poïetic temporalities on a raku ceramic work

Nous définissons l’instant plasticien en céramique comme l’unité temporelle d’un processus formel – à la main - d’une pièce d’argile qui subira une cuisson. Maillon syntaxique du présent plasticien, il est geste cogito-sculpteur qui recouvre différentes modalités. Habité de multiples composantes, nous analyserons son contenu en exposant d'abord ses contraintes techniques. Nous prendrons appui sur un exemple personnel pour expliquer sa composante lest cognitif – les connaissances techniques, artistiques, scientifiques et historiques -, nous analyserons également les constituants de la culture gestuelle. Ces deux composantes distinctes modèlent plus ou moins sciemment cet instant spécifique comme l’esthétique des formes qu’il promeut. Nous préciserons la spécificité de celui personnel en puisant dans l’Histoire de l’Art céramique ; nous aborderons la culture raku du Japon médiéval d’où provient le mode de cuisson employé pour les œuvres personnelles en référence. Si depuis le début de l’Art céramique, chacun des domaines qui constituent le contexte sociétal a autant modelé ses arguments poïétiques que l’esthétique qu'il promeut, celui personnel puise ses arguments créatifs et sa posture d’apologie des beautés de la planète, d’un questionnement sur l’origine des désordres et déséquilibres environnementaux qui forment le fond de notre contemporanéité. Motivé d'une intention réceptionnelle – autre composante -, celui personnel espère susciter chez le regardeur une réflexion sur les causes probables de la dégradation des biotopes existants comme sur la gestion actuelle d’une entité qui est au fondement du faire technique céramique, à savoir le respect du temps de la nature. / We define the plastician instant in ceramic work as temporal unit of a formal process - by hand – of a work in clay, which will necessarily be subjected to firing. Syntactic link of the plastician present, it is a cogito-sculptor's gesture which covers different modalities. Filled with multiple components, we’ll analyze its content by first exposing its technical constraints. We'll refer to a personal example to explain its lest cognitive component – the technical, artistic, historical and scientific knowledges -, and we'll analyze the constituents of the gestural culture. These two distinct components model more or less knowingly this specific instant, as well as the resulting aesthetic shapes. We will identify the specificity of the personal one by exploring the History of ceramic Art ; we will address the raku culture's past, born in medieval Japan where the firing technique used for personal art works in refer comes from. If, since the beginning of Ceramic Art, each of the domains that constitute the societal context modeled its poïetic arguments as well as the aesthetic this special instant constitutes, this particular one on which we’ll base our analysis draws its creative arguments and its planet beauty's vindication posture from a questioning about the origin of disturbances and environmental imbalances which are the essence of our contemporary world. Filled with a receptional intention – another component –, this personal one intents rouse the viewer to reflect on the probable causes of the existing biotopes' degradation, as well as on the current management of an entity which is fundamental in the ceramic technical work, namely the respect of nature's time.
