We back up our discussion through the category of violence, common to the focused narratives, aiming at investigating how violence gets constructed as in intrinsic element, affecting both content and form of the texts. After studying the short stories, mainly though the actions of the heroes, we trace a parallel among them in order to reveal the peculiarities of the configuration of violence engendered in them. We conclude that the understanding of the category of violence is of paramount relevance for the narratives under investigation, both in terms of thematic as compositional material, which corroborates, especially considering this latter aspect, how atypical their aesthetics is. / O presente trabalho propõe-se a realizar uma análise de contos integrantes da literatura brasileira contemporânea, a saber: A hora e vez de Augusto Matraga, de Guimarães Rosa; O cobrador, de Rubem Fonseca; e A maldição de Tibério, de Arturo Gouveia. Baseando-nos na categoria da violência, que é comum às narrativas enfocadas, procuramos investigar como esta se instaura como elemento intrínseco, afetando o conteúdo e a forma dos textos. Após o estudo dos contos, mormente a partir da ação dos heróis, traçamos um paralelo, a fim de evidenciar as peculiaridades da configuração da violência engendrada nos referidos. Concluímos que a compreensão da categoria da violência é fulcral para as narrativas contemporâneas em tela, tanto sob o aspecto temático quanto composicional, o que corrobora,considerando especialmente este último aspecto, a atipicidade estética.
