Identification of and Means of Reaching a Potential Member of a Racquet Club in the Dallas Metroplex with Suggestions for Racquet Club Facilities and Services

Manney, Cheryl C. 08 1900 (has links)
This study gathers demographic data on members of three Dallas racquet clubs, determines what media will reach club members, discerns facilities that members expect from their racquet club, and suggests ways the data can be used in an image program. Five chapters make up this study. Chapter I explains the purposes of the study and tells how research was conducted. Chapter II explains the steps in building a corporate image. Chapter III gives research results. Chapter IV explains how data gathered it into the total image program for a racquet club. Chapter V concludes. Members desired good tennis facilities above anything else in a racquet club.

Effects of Ankle Support on Time To Stabilization of Subjects with Stable Ankles

Martin, Raquel Elise 01 January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine if prophylactic ankle tape and/or ankle braces improve dynamic stability in TTS measure. All subjects were healthy and had no prior history of ankle injuries. Data collection consisted of each subject performing a single leg jump-landing with ankle tape, ankle brace, combination of the two, and control (no tape or brace) conditions. Dynamic stability was assessed with time to stabilization force plate measure. Significant plane by ankle tape interaction (p=0.045) was found. No significant plane by ankle tape by ankle brace interaction (p=0.637), no significant ankle tape by ankle brace interaction (p=0.483), or plane by ankle brace interaction (p=0.697) were found. A notable finding was that subjects took longer to stabilize in the anterior/posterior direction than medial/lateral direction. In conclusion ankle tape, ankle brace, and the combination of ankle tape and ankle brace did not statistically improve dynamic stability in healthy ankles.

The effects of iron deficiency and iron repletion in the endurance athlete

Burden, Richard January 2014 (has links)
Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) negatively impacts oxygen transport and maximal aerobic capacity (VO2 max). Iron deficiency non-anaemia (IDNA) is often observed amongst endurance athletes, yet the influence of IDNA on iron metabolism and endurance performance is not clear. The aim of this thesis was to investigate physiological and haematological responses to changes in iron status in elite endurance athletes.

Deskripce somatotypu jako součást sportovního výkonu ve sportovním tanci / Description of somatotype as part of sports performance in sports dance

Chmelík, Lukáš January 2014 (has links)
Title: Description of somatotype as part of sports performance in sports dance. Objectives: Create images of selected portions of the structure of sport performance in sport dancing. Help everyone in this sport. Establish model Czech dance couples in the world's top closer, only with a certain measurement for certain segments of the exercise. Methods: For the Purposes of this paper we will work with methods: analysis of scientific literature, the method of interviewing, observation method. Results: The aim was to show the close similarity between the partners and partner dancing couples individually and as a whole. These results I was able to prove (the differences were minimal). Based on my research, it is possible to generalize the model, which is important for dance and sport for all athletes who want to get closer world leaders. Keywords: Sports performance, sports dance, posture, BMI, WHR, height, weight, Latin American and Standard dances, somatotype.

Atletická pohybová gramotnost žáků staršího školního věku / Athletic physical literacy of secondary school pupils

Vitovský, Radek January 2014 (has links)
Title: Athletic physical literacy of secondary school pupils Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to compare athletic literacy of seventh and ninth-graders and to test if these pupils are able to perform athletic excercises and can be therefore called athletically literate. Methods: Cross-sectional study, video analysis. Results: The final evaluation showed that the results of both tested grades in the nodal points are similar. Both groups have comparable athletic skills, however, the ninth-graders reached slightly better results. These pupils have more experience and they were able to coordiate their movements better and their performance was also smoother. This "extra" ability is what can be called athletic literacy. The pupils have basic athletic skills and they also know how and when to use these skills properly. Keywords: Athletic literacy, video analysis, kinogram. pupils

Individuální vývoje výkonnosti vícebojařek / Individual performance development of female heptathles

Sontáková, Lenka January 2016 (has links)
Title: Individual performance development of female heptathletes Objectives: The aim of the study was to determine the efficiency of racing performance female heptathles and use these results to analyze the evolution of performance in the heptathlon. Using a statistical program to compare the results ERP Czech and world female heptathles and discover their similarities or differences. The results also indicate the development of Czech and world record in the heptathlon and compare it with the best in individual years. Methods: The work was a qualitative research. Evaluation was based on data collected through the method of analysis of documents. Data were obtained from score cards and tables. When comparing the best performances EZV and development of Czech and world record I use the method of comparison and retrospective analysis of documents. I further data analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results: It was found that the results EZV Czech and world female heptathles is not a statistically significant difference. However, even if the results are similar EZV best performances Czech female heptathles are lower. Development of the world record since 1988 is unchanged, but the best performances of each year tend to have a downward trend. In contrast, the Czech record in the heptathlon was...

Úskalí techniky v atletických vícebojích žen / Technique Problems in Women Combined Events

Korešová, Jana January 2011 (has links)
TECHNIQUE PROBLEMS IN WOMEN COMBINED EVENTS Objectives: The aim of this work is to describe and find out the mistakes of technique in each technical event of heptathlon. The next goal of this analysis was estimating technical levels of competitress's technical performance with attempt about correction of technical performance. Targets: Gathering of required documentation - letters and records of athletic training and previous seasons' competitions. (training diaries, videorecordings and analysis completed with own memories and experiences.) Further is a formation and comparison of photo sequences made from loaded videorecordings. Methods: In our thesis we used a method of analysis and a method of comparison. We apllied the method of analysis in each event and the method of comparison in comparing of the photo sequences in one event or searching of common signs and mistakes of technical performance. Results: We found out the mistakes in competitress's technical performance of heptathlon's events. We confirmed that the discipline with smallest efficiency contain biggest (basic) mistakes in technical performance, and this discipline was trained in youth infrequently. We found out similar mistakes of technique, that are detect in all disciplines. We found out low differentiation in competitress's...

Knights, Dudes, and Shadow Steeds: Late Victorian Culture and the Early Cycling Clubs of New Orleans, 1881-1891

Musgrove, Lacar E 20 December 2013 (has links)
In the 1880s, two cycling clubs formed in New Orleans—the New Orleans Bicycle Club in 1881 and the Louisiana Cycling Club in 1887. These clubs were institutions of Victorian middle class culture that, like other athletic clubs, arose from the conditions of urban modernity and Victorian class anxieties. The NOBC, like other American cycling clubs, conformed to Victorian values of order and respectability. The attitudes and activities of the LCC, whose membership was younger, reflected instead a counter-Victorian ethos. This paper examines these two clubs in the context of late Victorian culture in New Orleans as it responded both to the conditions of urban modernity common to American cities in this period and to the particular cultural situation of New Orleans at the end of the nineteenth century, including proximity to and amalgamation with the recently-dominant, non-Anglo culture of the Creoles.
