The relathionshiops between industry attribution and knowledge management-A case study on Petroleum and Petro-chemical Industries, steel industries, and TFT-LCD industries

Lin, Tsang-An 05 June 2006 (has links)
The relathionshiops between industry attribution and knowledge management-A case study on Petroleum and Petro-chemical Industries, steel industries, and TFT-LCD industries. To meet the demands of the market and create demands and hence to build up new competitive advantages in the knowledge-economy world, the focus of enterprises is to manipulate knowledge, make good use of the characteristics of knowledge-sharing and innovation. Therefore, knowledge management can be deemed as a weapon for organizational management and organizational development. With fine-quality knowledge, enterprises can create new knowledge and enhance corporate competitiveness. The aim of this research is to explore the differences of the mechanisms of knowledge management and the relationships between industry attributions and knowledgement among enterprises. With interviews with companies and relevant literature review, we conclude the following researching findings: Research finding 1: When the technologies in an industry go into a ripe phase, the model of knowledgement tends to focus on integrating explicit knowledge; when the technologies are still in the growth phase, the model of knowledge management focuses on internal interaction. Research finding2: Enterprises place more importance on knowledge transfer and their knowledge management mechanisms focus on information system when the industry life cycle is in the ripe phase; enterprises value knowledge innovation and their knowledge management mechanisms focus on the platform of human interaction when the industry life cycle is in the growth phase. Research finding 3: Industries in ripe phase emphasize the knowledge storage, diffusion, and application; industries in growth phase emphasize the knowledge creation. Keyword: knowledge management, industry attribution, industry life cycle, mechanism of knowledge management.

The emotional effects of disruption

Adcock, Christina Annie Lee 15 November 2004 (has links)
Disruption is something that we must negotiate as part of our everyday lives. The context of disruption can vary in nature from being positive to being negative in nature. However, the emotional effects of the disruption have not been investigated in the social psychological literature. This study utilizes structuralized ritualization affect theory of social exchange, attribution theory, and the theory of relational cohesion in order to investigate the effects of disruption on the overall positive emotion of the actors involved and their feelings of cohesiveness with regard to their group.

Nuclear forensics: attributing the source of spent fuel used in an RDD event

Scott, Mark Robert 29 August 2005 (has links)
An RDD attack against the U.S. is something America needs to prepare against. If such an event occurs the ability to quickly identify the source of the radiological material used in an RDD would aid investigators in identifying the perpetrators. Spent fuel is one of the most dangerous possible radiological sources for an RDD. In this work, a forensics methodology was developed and implemented to attribute spent fuel to a source reactor. The specific attributes determined are the spent fuel burnup, age from discharge, reactor type, and initial fuel enrichment. It is shown that by analyzing the post-event material, these attributes can be determined with enough accuracy to be useful for investigators. The burnup can be found within a 5% accuracy, enrichment with a 2% accuracy, and age with a 10% accuracy. Reactor type can be determined if specific nuclides are measured. The methodology developed was implemented into a code call NEMASYS. NEMASYS is easy to use and it takes a minimum amount of time to learn its basic functions. It will process data within a few minutes and provide detailed information about the results and conclusions.

Fredriksson, Nell January 2002 (has links)

Using Style Markers for Detecting Plagiarism in Natural Language Documents

Kimler, Marco January 2003 (has links)
<p>Most of the existing plagiarism detection systems compare a text to a database of other texts. These external approaches, however, are vulnerable because texts not contained in the database cannot be detected as source texts. This paper examines an internal plagiarism detection method that uses style markers from authorship attribution studies in order to find stylistic changes in a text. These changes might pinpoint plagiarized passages. Additionally, a new style marker called specific words is introduced. A pre-study tests if the style markers can fingerprint an author s style and if they are constant with sample size. It is shown that vocabulary richness measures do not fulfil these prerequisites. The other style markers - simple ratio measures, readability scores, frequency lists, and entropy measures - have these characteristics and are, together with the new specific words measure, used in a main study with an unsupervised approach for detecting stylistic changes in plagiarized texts at sentence and paragraph levels. It is shown that at these small levels the style markers generally cannot detect plagiarized sections because of intra-authorial stylistic variations (i.e. noise), and that at bigger levels the results are strongly a ected by the sliding window approach. The specific words measure, however, can pinpoint single sentences written by another author.</p>

Danielssson, Sandra January 2004 (has links)
