O princípio das modalidades de presença poética: da performatividade à formação da mente corporificada no audiovisual / Principle of the Poetics Presence Modality: From Performativity to the Formation of the Embodied Mind in the Audiovisual.

Berger, Carolina Dias de Almeida 18 April 2016 (has links)
This practice-based thesis introduces an interdisciplinary analysis of the poetics of audiovisual performance, multimedia and intermedia works. Emphasizing on how the performativity and the presence of the artist in the execution of his work are intertwined in the form of the work; whose composition is permeated by issues related to its technical device. When discussing specific work situations that attach movement to the final shape; from which we consider evidencing the manifestation of the creator / inventor\'s \"embodied mind\" as the connection point, between poetic and the means employed for its execution, we come to the principle of presence modalities, from which we discuss the relationship between corporeality, performativity and technical device. By means of a laboratorial process to establish the trilogy of multimedia performance poetics, entitled #LiveLivingPerformanceProject, we come to the theoretical points that are relevant to the work, as embodied mind, digital double, digital self and digital syncretic audiovisuality. The multimedia artwork that results from the research is built in a transcendental symbolism. Of free adaptation and interpretation of the mythology of female African- Brazilian archetypes, as well as influences of the knowledge of native American peoples; all related to the elements of nature, that will be the central focus of the introduction of the poetics of the project. Paved with the elements of nature as the psychic and symbolic personifications founding forces, we will demonstrate how we got to the heart of the poetics, which is established throughout the research process. When experimenting with various digital interfaces and audiovisual systems, crossing our practical experience by observing establishment processes of performance projects, we form our analysis through the cohesion between practical processes, and operational concepts from different fields of philosophy, arts of moving images and performance arts, which discuss issues such as visibility, multimediality, intermediality, technical device, poetics, presence and digital double.

Audiovizuální performance Hyperspeed reach / Hyperspeed Reach - Audiovisual Performance

Kočišová, Lenka January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation thesis describes the phenomenon of audiovisual performance in different connotations. A substantial part is devoted to psychological survey into my own subconscious and subsequently to metaphorical processing of this introspection. An important part of the work is a resume of the general knowledge of the physical properties and its metaphorical application on mental and creative processes. This analysis and explanation of internal cognitive models are implemented in terms of the study of relationships, interactions based on cooperation or confrontation, but also the inability to grasp the objective reality from the subjective position due to the merged distinctions of real and fictional. The importance of audiovisual performance is also studied in linear perspective of history, in order to point out the general principle of repetition patterns, which reveals that audiovisual performances is an activity which is a necessary expression of life itself and not just the concept in the field of arts.

Audiovizuální performance v kontextu digitálního prostředí / Audiovisual performance in the context of digital environment

Kořínek, Tomáš January 2016 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to describe the influence of technological development on the ways in which the moving image is created and to introduce forms that this medium attains in the area of live audio-visual performances. The theoretical study approaches this topic as a historical overview of technical image, focusing on its connections with music. It thus observes specific creative processes of the avant-garde film and music video and subsequently puts them into the context of current types of moving picture created as a result of software codes. Based on the definitions of digital media's key principles, a theoretical basis is set up and then applied to the description of contemporary forms of audio-visual performances. These principles are also used for the definition of the features of software tools, numeric representations of which make it possible to work with any type of an image as with a set of mathematical functions. The main result of this thesis is thus a presentation of creative possibilities of today's image, which has - thanks to digital devices - disengaged itself from its previous technical limitation and become a fully dynamic element that can be created and modified in real time.

Bobony, Samuel 08 1900 (has links)
This document presents the research-creation process of the Imaginaire Drumscape album and its adaptation into an audiovisual performance designed as part of a master's degree in electroacoustic composition. Developed in 2012 under the pseudonym Black Givre, this solo project is part of the historical continuity of the repetitive aesthetic intrinsic to American minimalist experimental music, German krautrock, and structuralist cinema. In a desire to renew my methodology in the context of creation, improvisation, and performance after more than ten years of activity, I developed an augmented drumkit (hyperinstrument) by use of an interactive audiovisual device. The device integrates with a computer, sensors, synthesizers as well as visual and audio-digital processing tools. This new instrument offers greater flexibility in its use and makes it possible to adapt to different creative contexts in an innovative way. The compositions Imaginary Drumscape and Perturbation made for the album with my device stem from the development of a new interactive and creative method, offering the possibility of conceiving rich percussive sound designs. The cohabitation of eurythmic universes composed of soundscapes, synthetic sounds, and repetitive drums prove to be specific to my approach. My experiments in the form of pragmatic comprovisation routines generated the preparatory sketches for the realization of an audiovisual recording session in the studio. During this session, the materials necessary for the steps inherent in the composition of the album were produced. In a concert situation, the interpretation of Imaginaire Drumscape benefits from the characteristic adaptability of my instrument.

Geste et instrument dans la musique électronique : organologie des pratiques de création contemporaines / Gesture and instrument in electronic music : organology of contemporary creative practices

Bacot, Baptiste 18 December 2017 (has links)
Technological means of electronic music reconfigure musical practices. Because of the machines’ computation and automation capacities that mediate the sonic phenomenon, the causal relationship between instrumental gesture and sound is altered. Therefore, what does it mean to play electronic music? The concepts of gesture and musical instrument are traditionally employed for the analysis of musical practices, but how should they be understood in this context? To address these issues, we conducted an extensive fieldwork between 2010 and 2016 with professional musicians in various contexts: art music with real-time electronics, audiovisual performance, and popular electronic music. Our instrument-focused approach allows us to consider the materiality of electronic music itself, beyond aesthetics. Thus, this work is an “organological inquiry” on the following musicians or bands: Robert Henke, Alex Augier, Brain Damage, High Tone, Pierre Jodlowski, Jesper Nordin, John MacCallum and Teoma Naccarato, Nicolas Mondon, Greg Beller, and the Unmapped collective. The ethnographic method sheds a light on the use of music technologies at different stages of the creative process: conceptualization of the work, technical collaboration, the making of the music and its performance. From this analysis of musical activity captured through instrumental configurations, we offer a typology of electronic music instruments, based on a gestural criterion, which is the only residual aspect of the acoustic instrumental interaction model. The corporeal activity leads to organise the material diversity of music technologies, as well as it constitutes a strategic way to express instrumental interaction.

Živé obrazy VJingu / Live images of VJing

Benická, Alexandra January 2011 (has links)
The subject of the thesis Live images of VJing is an aesthetic activity, based on visual projections and on work with new media in real-time, known as VJing, or more generally "live audiovisual performance". As these performances usually complement auditory events or are supplemented by music. The first part follows the origins of VJing out of three angles: First the historical development of projected image, electronic music and the discourse of synaesthesia principle as an principle joining different sensory perceptions into one. Second part of this thesis is introducing an philosophical perspective and it's defining terms, through which can be glimpsed the tendencies in the development of contemporary art of new media, particularly following the example of the German new-media philosophy with terms like homöotechnik, performativity, mediality and gesture. The outcome of this thesis is the finding, that it's not the media-philosophy bringing the textures and shapes to VJing, but the opposite - VJing as an art form is a valuable contribution to defining of the media-philosophy, which seem to be forming along with the new media itself and with the experimental arts exploring it's radical possibilities.
