A high school physics instructor's website: Design, implementation, and evaluation

White, Richard Neal 01 January 2002 (has links)
In order to test the ability of the Internet to supplement classroom instruction, an instructor-authored WWW site crashwhite.com was developed for two Berkeley High courses: Advanced Placement (AP) physics, and college-prep physics class. The website was intended to supplement classroom instruction by making classroom materials available to students and parents outside the classroom, and to facilitate increased teacher-parent, teacher-student, and student-student communication.

Segment Routing Based Traffic Engineering : A QoS adaptive rerouting using segment routing approach based on IPv6 to mitigate network congestion / Segment Routing Baserad Trafikstyrning : En QoS-anpassad omdirigering med segmenteringsrouting baserad på IPv6 för att mildra nätverksöverbelastning.

Javid, Sepehr January 2023 (has links)
In modern networks, the increasing volume of network traffic and the diverse range of services with varying requirements necessitate the implementation of more advanced routing decisions and traffic engineering. This academic study proposes a QoS adaptive mechanism called "Sepitto", which utilizes Segment routing protocols, specifically SRv6, to address network-traffic control and congestion avoidance. Sepitto leverages data-plane traffic to convey Linux Qdisc statistics, such as queue size, packet drops, and buffer occupancy, in each Linux-based virtual router. By incorporating this information, edge routers become aware of the current network status, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding traffic paths based on QoS classes. SRv6 is employed to direct traffic along desired paths, avoiding congested links and minimizing queuing delays and overall latency. Moreover, Sepitto offers network administrators an interface to customize decision-making processes based on their policies, assigning costs to network graph edges by associating the provided statistics to a certain cost. To incorporate these costs, the implementation employs the Dijkstra algorithm to determine the path with the lowest cost. Performance analysis of Sepitto reveals minimal overhead compared to traditional routing methods, while effectively mitigating network congestion. The results demonstrate that Sepitto reduces traffic round-trip time during congestion while maintaining differentiated treatment for various QoS classes.

Unite: Ames, ISU, student, citizen, + place

Meessmann, Andrew January 1900 (has links)
Master of Landscape Architecture / Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning / Stephanie A. Rolley / College districts are unique places that often times blend the culture, history, and the future direction of a city. They are places that foster knowledge, interaction, and diversity. A successful college district enables all citizens to help shape a place that is unique amongst other districts throughout the city. They are places where people relax, work, socialize, think, revolt, and reunite. They are, perhaps, the most important districts within college towns. The intent of this project is to completely reinvent a district to be one that all citizens (permanent and student) of Ames, Iowa can utilize throughout the year. Reversing the negative perceptions of Campustown through design and programming will help recreate a district that fosters interaction among students of Iowa State University and the citizens of Ames. Further, the recreation of Campustown will benefit the community in terms of image, economics, environment, and place. Campustown will no longer be perceived as an enclave of substandard student housing, trashy bars, and a district that caters to only one group. It will be a place where people come together to celebrate Ames and ISU and to come together to meet friends and family. To enable a thorough understanding of successful college districts, two case studies were examined in great detail to help understand what makes these places work. A complete site inventory and analysis of Campustown was also conducted to help determine where and what shortcomings are present throughout the site. Several different programming elements have been selected that would be appropriate to locate in the Campustown area. And finally, a complete master plan has been created that will enable Campustown to function properly long into the future for every citizen of Ames.

George Berkeley e o problema da inteligibilidade dos objetos matemáticos / George Berkeley and the problem of intelligibility of mathematical objects

Calazans, Alex, 1978- 25 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Fátima Regina Rodrigues Évora / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-25T13:29:44Z (GMT). The aim of this thesis is to establish a study of how Berkeley devised mathematical objects. It is of interest to know whether there is, in his thinking, a unit in the criterion of intelligibility of these objects. To do this, we try to reconstruct some of his arguments about what he considers as legitimate objects, not only in arithmetic, algebra and geometry, but also in the infinitesimal calculus. From this, the interpretive consequences of his maturity texts are evaluated - such as the text The Analyst (1734), which is known for the criticism of the infinitesimal calculus - on whether there is primacy of such objects in the process of evaluating the scientific character of mathematics. Therefore, we don¿t want to adopt as an entrance the more general question of what is mathematical science, to Berkeley, but the question of how the notion of mathematical object is presented, or not, as one of the important elements to enlighten this more general problem / Doutorado / Filosofia / Doutor em Filosofia

Prado Velasquez, Alvaro Antonio 11 August 2021 (has links)

Alvarado Quinteros, Erik Jefferson 24 October 2017 (has links)
