'n Onrealisties positiewe
asook roekelose gedrag manifesteer. Ult hierdie literatuurbevindinge
is twaalf postulate gestel en bespreek.
Vyf idiografiese studies is onderneem, waarvan drie volledig bespreek
is.
adolessente seun verkry is.
by die adolessente seun te voorkom / The purpose of this study is to explore the lifeworld of the aggressive
adolescent boy.
Aggression is regarded as deviant behaviour, that may manifest
itself physically, verbally or passively. The causes of aggressive
behaviour in the adolescent boy can be due to inadequate family
relationships. Feelings of insecurity, confusion and rejection are
the results of the problematic relationships. An unrealistic positive
or negative self concept may develop that might lead to involvement
with the negative peer group. Smoking, alcohol and drug
abuse, as well as reckless behaviour may occur. Twelve postulates
have been determined and discussed.
Five idiographic studies have been done. Three are discussed in
detail. Deductions made from these studies are in agreement with
findings in existing literature of the life world of the adolescent
boy.
Early identification parental guidance and research regarding
therapeutical programmes are recommended to prevent aggressive
behaviour with the adolescent / Psychology of Education / M. Ed. (Spesialisering in Voorligting)

Developing a corporate personality measuring instrument based on an established CSR framework / Louis Johannes van WykVan Wyk, Louis Johannes January 2011 (has links)
The increasing amount of power and potentially negative impacts that corporations exert within society has become a growing concern for many people. In response to this and due to the changing role of business in society, more and more members of social groups, who are affected by corporate activities, are claiming their rights to be better informed of and more involved in corporate decision-making. Consequently, the need for companies worldwide to be more accountable for the ways in which they conduct their business has grown at a tremendous rate. Especially during the last decade, companies have globally been placed under increasing pressure from different stakeholder groups to demonstrate and prove their commitments to the idea of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In order to facilitate and guide these CSR-commitments, society has for many years already begun to implement various standards of behaviour/performance, which corporations need to achieve in order to be accepted as being part of the citizenry. However, despite an abundance of such standards in terms of CSR-related guidelines and codes, a clear need has been identified for the development of better measuring tools of CSR, in order to efficiently assess and monitor companies’ performance.
The Bench Marks is one of the most comprehensive sets of social and environmental criteria and business performance indicators available. It offers an ethical standard on which to base decisions about global corporate social responsibility. Consequently, the need arose from the Bench Marks Foundation - in collaboration with the Bench Marks Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility at the North-West University – to develop the current Bench Marks CSR Framework into a practical measuring instrument. This need has successfully been fulfilled through this research by means of two methods, namely a literature review and an empirical study. During the literature study, the concepts CSR and Corporate Personality were contextualised - particularly with the investigation of related concepts; as well as critically examined - specifically in terms of their theoretical measurement properties. During the empirical research, quantitative research techniques have been utilised which involved: the application of certain ‘theoretically recognised phases’ of measuring instrument development; as well as a survey in the form of a ‘preliminary measuring instrument’ (in questionnaire format) that was administered on a random sample respondents (n = 350), including the statistical analysis of the results. 189 Questionnaires were completed, which gave a response rate of 54%. The statistical analysis mainly served as an effective guideline for determining the best CSR items (in terms of reliability and validity) to be included in the final version of the instrument. Apart from measuring CSR performance in line with the Bench Marks, the instrument that has been developed by this study, can also be used as a measuring mechanism for Corporate Personality. This is achieved by assessing company behaviour in terms of the theoretical dimensions of CSR (economic, legal, ethical and philanthropic) and Sustainable Development (economic, social and environmental). In doing so, this instrument provides companies with a unique way of identifying their status of being true Corporate Citizens. / Thesis (Ph.D. (Sociology))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2012

Talent retention among trainers and learners in a mining environment / Nyaradzo ChidyamakonoChidyamakono, Nyaradzo January 2010 (has links)
Global growth in mining activities has resulted in stiff competition for talented employees and characterised the mining industry with high turnover rates. The South African mining environment has not been an exception to this phenomenon. The aim of this study was to inform the design of talent retention strategies through determination of turnover intention predictors and exploration of the turnover process experienced by employees. The study hypothesised that job satisfaction and affective organisational commitment mediate the effect of overall justice, centralisation, trust and job challenge on turnover intentions. A cross-sectional survey design with a random sample of trainers and learners from a South African gold mining company was used (n=171 and n=230, respectively). Results indicate that job satisfaction mediates the effect of centralisation on turnover intention for learners. Only job satisfaction directly predicts turnover intention for trainers, and overall justice and trust play a direct role in the prediction of turnover intention for learners. It was also found that job challenge predicts job satisfaction for trainers, whilst job challenge, centralisation and trust predict job satisfaction for learners. Therefore, to retain trainers, the mining company should focus on enhancing those factors that facilitate job challenge perceptions and job satisfaction. In retaining learners, its thrust should be increasing job challenge, decentralisation, overall justice, trust and job satisfaction. / Thesis (M.A. (Industrial Psychology))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2011.

In this study it is attempted to put the message of Micah 2: 1-13 in a Pentecostal hermeneutical framework. In the first chapter the problem is stated namely, that Pentecostals in general tend to spiritualise biblical texts irrespective of the nature of the text. The hypothesis in this study
is that if Pentecostal hermeneutics are properly applied, it will no longer be necessary for Pentecostals to avoid texts with strong social elements such as Micah 2:1-13. In chapter two it is explained how Pentecostal hermeneutics function. In chapter three a study of the background of the book Micah is done, with special emphasis on introductory problems.
Chapter four is the exegesis of Micah 2:1-13. The sociological method is applied in order to highlight the social issues in the text. In chapter five the message of the text is articulated. In the last chapter the nature of Pentecostal social involvement is discussed. / Biblical and Ancient Studies / M.A. (Bybelkunde)
