The aim of this thesis is design the project documentation for building realisataion. The project is solved as study for real building The subsequent bed health care settled in category of acomodation for seniors in Ostrava – Vratimov location. The building is available for maximal period 3 weeks. The buiding is equiped by 21 rooms for 42 patients. The new building is design as block disposition for future redesign or construction. The building is three floor structure with respect to surrounding building architecture on which the design of building is based. In the building there are also terrace with green roof part. Vertical structure are mede from ceramic blocks Porotherm with mineral wool infill combined with reinforced concrete monolithic slab. The roof structure is from repeated pitched roofs with metal roof covering.

Řešení brownfields v rámci České republiky - Tepna Náchod / The Brownfields solutions within the Czech Republic - Tepna Nachod

The diploma thesis follows up the area in the center of Náchod along the former textile factory Tepna, which is located at the transition between the historical center and the housing estate. The proposal is based on problem analysis and uses the potential, limits and quailities of the area. The concept is a new urban quarter with a residential block of buildings complemented by civic amenities and high-quality public spaces. The design preserves the existing building of the Bílá Tepna, for which a new functional use is proposed. The proposal is solved with respect to the character of the place, the connection to the surrounding buildings and the emphasis on the preference of pedestrian traffic over the automobile traffic.

Block-sparse models in multi-modality : application to the inverse model in EEG/MEG / Des modèles bloc-parcimonieux en multi-modalité : application au problème inverse en EEG/MEG

De nombreux phénomènes naturels sont trop complexes pour être pleinement reconnus par un seul instrument de mesure ou par une seule modalité. Par conséquent, le domaine de recherche de la multi-modalité a émergé pour mieux identifier les caractéristiques riches du phénomène naturel de la multi-propriété naturelle, en analysant conjointement les données collectées à partir d’uniques modalités, qui sont en quelque sorte complémentaires. Dans notre étude, le phénomène d’intérêt multi-propriétés est l’activité du cerveau humain et nous nous intéressons à mieux la localiser au moyen de ses propriétés électromagnétiques, mesurables de manière non invasive. En neurophysiologie, l’électroencéphalographie (EEG) et la magnétoencéphalographie (MEG) constituent un moyen courant de mesurer les propriétés électriques et magnétiques de l’activité cérébrale. Notre application dans le monde réel, à savoir le problème de reconstruction de source EEG / MEG, est un problème fondamental en neurosciences, allant des sciences cognitives à la neuropathologie en passant par la planification chirurgicale. Considérant que le problème de reconstruction de source EEG /MEG peut être reformulé en un système d’équations linéaires sous-déterminé, la solution (l’activité estimée de la source cérébrale) doit être suffisamment parcimonieuse pour pouvoir être récupérée de manière unique. La quantité de parcimonie est déterminée par les conditions dites de récupération. Cependant, dans les problèmes de grande dimension, les conditions de récupération conventionnelles sont extrêmement strictes. En regroupant les colonnes cohérentes d’un dictionnaire, on pourrait obtenir une structure plus incohérente. Cette stratégie a été proposée en tant que cadre d’identification de structure de bloc, ce qui aboutit à la segmentation automatique de l’espace source du cerveau, sans utiliser aucune information sur l’activité des sources du cerveau et les signaux EEG / MEG. En dépit du dictionnaire structuré en blocs moins cohérent qui en a résulté, la condition de récupération conventionnelle n’est plus en mesure de calculer la caractérisation de la cohérence. Afin de relever le défi mentionné, le cadre général des conditions de récupération exactes par bloc-parcimonie, comprenant trois conditions théoriques et une condition dépendante de l’algorithme, a été proposé. Enfin, nous avons étudié la multi-modalité EEG et MEG et montré qu’en combinant les deux modalités, des régions cérébrales plus raffinées sont apparues / Three main challenges have been addressed in this thesis, in three chapters.First challenge is about the ineffectiveness of some classic methods in high-dimensional problems. This challenge is partially addressed through the idea of clustering the coherent parts of a dictionary based on the proposed characterisation, in order to create more incoherent atomic entities in the dictionary, which is proposed as a block structure identification framework. The more incoherent atomic entities, the more improvement in the exact recovery conditions. In addition, we applied the mentioned clustering idea to real-world EEG/MEG leadfields to segment the brain source space, without using any information about the brain sources activity and EEG/MEG signals. Second challenge raises when classic recovery conditions cannot be established for the new concept of constraint, i.e., block-sparsity. Therefore, as the second research orientation, we developed a general framework for block-sparse exact recovery conditions, i.e., four theoretical and one algorithmic-dependent conditions, which ensure the uniqueness of the block-sparse solution of corresponding weighted mixed-norm optimisation problem in an underdetermined system of linear equations. The mentioned generality of the framework is in terms of the properties of the underdetermined system of linear equations, extracted dictionary characterisations, optimisation problems, and ultimately the recovery conditions. Finally, the combination of different information of a same phenomenon is the subject of the third challenge, which is addressed in the last part of dissertation with application to brain source space segmentation. More precisely, we showed that by combining the EEG and MEG leadfields and gaining the electromagnetic properties of the head, more refined brain regions appeared.

Essays on macroeconometrics and short-term forecasting

The thesis, entitled "Essays on macroeconometrics and short-term forecasting",<p>is composed of three chapters. The first two chapters are on nowcasting,<p>a topic that has received an increasing attention both among practitioners and<p>the academics especially in conjunction and in the aftermath of the 2008-2009<p>economic crisis. At the heart of the two chapters is the idea of exploiting the<p>information from data published at a higher frequency for obtaining early estimates<p>of the macroeconomic variable of interest. The models used to compute<p>the nowcasts are dynamic models conceived for handling in an efficient way<p>the characteristics of the data used in a real-time context, like the fact that due to the different frequencies and the non-synchronicity of the releases<p>the time series have in general missing data at the end of the sample. While<p>the first chapter uses a small model like a VAR for nowcasting Italian GDP,<p>the second one makes use of a dynamic factor model, more suitable to handle<p>medium-large data sets, for providing early estimates of the employment in<p>the euro area. The third chapter develops a topic only marginally touched<p>by the second chapter, i.e. the estimation of dynamic factor models on data characterized by block-structures.<p>The firrst chapter assesses the accuracy of the Italian GDP nowcasts based<p>on a small information set consisting of GDP itself, the industrial production<p>index and the Economic Sentiment Indicator. The task is carried out by using<p>real-time vintages of data in an out-of-sample exercise over rolling windows<p>of data. Beside using real-time data, the real-time setting of the exercise is<p>also guaranteed by updating the nowcasts according to the historical release calendar. The model used to compute the nowcasts is a mixed-frequency Vector<p>Autoregressive (VAR) model, cast in state-space form and estimated by<p>maximum likelihood. The results show that the model can provide quite accurate<p>early estimates of the Italian GDP growth rates not only with respect<p>to a naive benchmark but also with respect to a bridge model based on the<p>same information set and a mixed-frequency VAR with only GDP and the industrial production index.<p>The chapter also analyzes with some attention the role of the Economic Sentiment<p>Indicator, and of soft information in general. The comparison of our<p>mixed-frequency VAR with one with only GDP and the industrial production<p>index clearly shows that using soft information helps obtaining more accurate<p>early estimates. Evidence is also found that the advantage from using soft<p>information goes beyond its timeliness.<p>In the second chapter we focus on nowcasting the quarterly national account<p>employment of the euro area making use of both country-specific and<p>area wide information. The relevance of anticipating Eurostat estimates of<p>employment rests on the fact that, despite it represents an important macroeconomic<p>variable, euro area employment is measured at a relatively low frequency<p>(quarterly) and published with a considerable delay (approximately<p>two months and a half). Obtaining an early estimate of this variable is possible<p>thanks to the fact that several Member States publish employment data and<p>employment-related statistics in advance with respect to the Eurostat release<p>of the euro area employment. Data availability represents, nevertheless, a<p>major limit as country-level time series are in general non homogeneous, have<p>different starting periods and, in some cases, are very short. We construct a<p>data set of monthly and quarterly time series consisting of both aggregate and<p>country-level data on Quarterly National Account employment, employment<p>expectations from business surveys and Labour Force Survey employment and<p>unemployment. In order to perform a real time out-of-sample exercise simulating<p>the (pseudo) real-time availability of the data, we construct an artificial<p>calendar of data releases based on the effective calendar observed during the first quarter of 2012. The model used to compute the nowcasts is a dynamic<p>factor model allowing for mixed-frequency data, missing data at the beginning<p>of the sample and ragged edges typical of non synchronous data releases. Our<p>results show that using country-specific information as soon as it is available<p>allows to obtain reasonably accurate estimates of the employment of the euro<p>area about fifteen days before the end of the quarter.<p>We also look at the nowcasts of employment of the four largest Member<p>States. We find that (with the exception of France) augmenting the dynamic<p>factor model with country-specific factors provides better results than those<p>obtained with the model without country-specific factors.<p>The third chapter of the thesis deals with dynamic factor models on data<p>characterized by local cross-correlation due to the presence of block-structures.<p>The latter is modeled by introducing block-specific factors, i.e. factors that<p>are specific to blocks of time series. We propose an algorithm to estimate the model by (quasi) maximum likelihood and use it to run Monte Carlo<p>simulations to evaluate the effects of modeling or not the block-structure on<p>the estimates of common factors. We find two main results: first, that in finite samples modeling the block-structure, beside being interesting per se, can help<p>reducing the model miss-specification and getting more accurate estimates<p>of the common factors; second, that imposing a wrong block-structure or<p>imposing a block-structure when it is not present does not have negative<p>effects on the estimates of the common factors. Návrh udržitelné městské struktury - na bázi středověkého města - pro 21.století. / Design of a sustainable urban structure - based on a medieval city - for the 21st century.

The assignment of diploma thesis was the design of a sustainable urban structure based on a medieval city in Náměšť nad Oslavou. As part of the work, I tried to find the best solution for this solved area, which is isolated by a railway corridor and suggest a new city district based on the principle of a medieval city, which will be linked to the existing city. The proposed development of city blocks is built on a system of platforms that level the terrain within the blocks and enable optimal parking spaces and the use of commercials. This development is complemented by several blocks with villa houses and a city SPA complex. The proposal supports the construction of cycle paths that connect parts of the solved area with the Rathan recreation pond. The design also includes a large park with a lookout tower and a sports ground on the city horizon ner the SPA complex. The accent was also placed on the public area near the new railway station, which serves to gather people for cultural and entertainment opportunities. This public space should not compete with an existing Masaryk square, which fulfills a representative and administration function.

The theme of the diploma thesis "Brno waterfront - rehabilitation of the Brno rivers and their surroundings" is creating an urban proposal in Brno, Zábrdovice, on the eastern waterfront of the Svitava river. The intention is to use the potential of the area and create the possibility of lucrative housing by river with a commercial ground floor, services, leisure time park with a multifunctional playground and easy direct access to the Svitava river. The studied location, has an area of 6.32 hectares andis defined mainly by the Zábrdovická Street and the Svitava River near the former Premonstratensian Monastery, which now serves as a Military Hospital. At present, the location has mainly low-floor industrial buildings with storage and expedition functions. The proposed buildings relate to existing buildings on the east and west banks of the Svitava River. They have the form of four to six storey blocks, which are characteristic for this area. The park connects to the revitalized eastern embankment of the river at the site of a new footbridgethat connects both rive sides and stairs. They provide space formeetings and relaxation, but also serve as a flood control in the event of a water inflow. Along the Svitava River there is a sidewalk with street alleyways and access to the river.

Atomic and electronic structure of complex metal oxides during electrochemical reaction with lithium

Lithium-ion batteries have transformed energy storage and technological applications. They stand poised to convert transportation from combustion to electric engines. The discharge/charge rate is a key parameter that determines battery power output and recharge time; typically, operation is on the timescale of hours but reducing this would improve existing applications and open up new possibilities. Conventionally, the rate at which a battery can operate has been improved by synthetic strategies to decrease the solid-state diffusion length of lithium ions by decreasing particle sizes down to the nanoscale. In this work, a different approach is taken toward next-generation high-power and fast charging lithium-ion battery electrode materials. The phenomenon of high-rate charge storage without nanostructuring is discovered in niobium oxide and the mechanism is explained in the context of the structure–property relationships of Nb2O5. Three polymorphs, T-Nb2O5, B-Nb2O5, and H-Nb2O5, take bronze-like, rutile-like, and crystallographic shear structures, respectively. The bronze and crystallographic shear compounds, with unique electrochemical properties, can be described as ordered, anion-deficient nonstoichiometric defect structures derived from ReO3. The lessons learned in niobia serve as a platform to identify other compounds with related structural motifs that apparently facilitate high-rate lithium insertion and extraction. This leads to the synthesis, characterisation, and electrochemical evaluation of the even more complicated composition–structure–property relationships in ternary TiO2–Nb2O5 and Nb2O5–WO3 phases. Advanced structural characterisation including multinuclear solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, density functional theory, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, operando high-rate X-ray diffraction, and neutron diffraction is conducted throughout to understand the evolution of local and long-range atomic structure and changes in electronic states.

Sie stützt sich dabei maßgeblich auf die Ergebnisse langfristig durchgeführter Kartierungsarbeiten, die in diskontinuierlichen Bearbeitungsphasen seit 1957 bis in die 90er Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts erfolgten. Einbezogen werden die Ergebnisse von insgesamt 54 Forschungs- und Erkundungsbohrungen, die zu einem Großteil im Kontext dieser Arbeiten geteuft worden sind. 36 Bohrprofile werden hier erstmals vollständig beschrieben und publiziert.
