Vem är läraren i klassrummet? : En kvalitativ studie om hur lärare skapar, agerar och upprätthåller sin lärarroll i klassrummet

Syftet med denna studie är att ur ett aktörsperspektiv få en djupare förståelse för hur gymnasielärare skapar, agerar och upprätthåller sin lärarroll i klassrummet. Studien använder sig av interaktionsteorier för att kunna förklara hur lärare väljer att uppföra sig i interaktion med elever. Studien utfördes med en kvalitativ metod med halvstrukturerade intervjuer och en intervjuguide. Fem gymnasielärare som arbetar på samma skola med olika ämnen intervjuades. Den insamlade empirin har analyserats utifrån Herbert Blumers symboliska interaktionism och Erving Goffmans dramaturgiska perspektiv av individers roller.Resultatet i studien visar att gymnasielärarna vet hur de vill bli uppfattade av elever och att de reagera i klassrumssituationer utan att ha aktivt förberett sig inför interaktionen med eleverna. Gymnasielärarnas agerande i lärarrollen grundar sig i deras erfarenheter och reaktioner när situationer uppstår i interaktionen med elever i klassrummet. / The aim with this study is to get a better understanding through an actor’s perspective on how high school teachers create, act and maintain their role as teachers in the classroom. This study is conducted with the use of interaction theories to be able to explain how teachers choose to act in their interactions with students. The study was performed by using a qualitative method with semi structured interviews and with the help of an interview guide. Five high school teachers that work in the same school but teaching in different subjects were interviewed. The empiricism that we collected has been analyzes by using Herbert Blumers symbolic interactionism and Erving Goffmans dramaturgical perspective on individual roles.The result in the study shows that high school teachers are aware of how they want to be perceived by students. They often react in classroom situation without having actively prepared themselves for the interaction with students. The high school teacher’s conduct in their role as teachers is based on their experience and reactions when they occur in the interaction with students in the classroom.

Este trabalho é uma tentativa de reconstrução metodológica parcial do pensamento de Herbert Blumer e de seu interacionismo simbólico sob a luz da polêmica entre causalidade e compreensão, que emerge no seio das discussões acerca da natureza das explicações nas ciências sociais. Assim, tem-se enfocado principalmente sua tese de doutorado, Method in Social Psychology, a fim de deslindar a concatenação dos elementos explícitos e implícitos de fundamentação ontológica, epistemológica e lógica em um esquema-base compreensivo. Com ele, pretende-se analisar mais detalhadamente o modo como o pensamento de Blumer se estrutura metateoricamente e como o impasse de suas reflexões teóricas vêm a incorrer em problemáticas contidas nessa estrutura. Ao final, tem-se indicado um passo de uma mera reconstrução analítico-descritiva, tateando em Weber, Schütz e no realismo científico as bases para um desenvolvimento analítico-crítico de sua metateoria compreensiva. / This work is an attempt to a partial reconstruction of the methodological thinking of Herbert Blumer and its symbolic interactionism in the light of the controversy between causality and understanding. This controversy emerges within discussions about the nature of explanation in the social sciences. Thus, we have focused mainly on his doctoral thesis, Method in Social Psychology, in order to disentangle the concatenation of the explicit and implicit elements of ontological, epistemological and logical reasoning in his metatheoretical scheme of understanding. With it, we intend to analyze in more detail how the thought of Blumer is metatheoretically structured and how the dilemma of its theoretical reflections come to incur in problematic issues contained in this structure. At the end, it has been indicated a next step from a mere analytical-descriptive reconstruction, groping Weber, Schütz and the scientific realism as basis for an analytical-critical development of its metatheory of understanding

Coco Chanel och modehistorien : Coco Chanels roll i modehistorien och hur hon förhåller sig till kända teorier om mode

Uppsatsen har tre syften. Det första är att introducera modehistoria och modeteori som specifika vetenskapliga områden och det andra är att lyfta fram Coco Chanel och det banbrytande och framåtpekande i hennes modehistoriska insats. Det tredje syftet är att tillämpa de olika allmänna teorierna på Coco Chanels livsgärning. För det tredje syftet är frågeställningen; ”Vilka av de äldre och nyare, ofta inbördes konkurrerande, generella modeteorierna skulle på ett eller annat sätt kunna tillämpas på Coco Chanels liv och modeskapande?”. I uppsatsen ger jag en modehistorisk bakgrund och genom den visar jag Coco Chanels roll i modets historia. Jag presenterar också sex olika teorier som jag i analysen prövar på Coco Chanel. Dessa teorier är nedsjunkningsteorin, modet som kollektivt urval, mode som praktik, Lars Fr.H Svendsens teori om modets förändring för förändringens skull, Gabriel de Tardes som säger att mode kan gå från de lägre klasserna till de högre samt Eric Hobsbwan som menar att modeskapare har en speciell förmåga att fånga tidsandan. Dessa teorier sätter jag sedan i förhållande till Coco Chanel för att se huruvida de stämmer på Coco Chanels mode. Min undersökning visar att samtliga teorier, både de äldre och de nyare är tillämpbara på Coco Chanel och att de till viss del överensstämmer eller kan förklara Coco Chanels mode och etablering men i andra fall också motbevisas. Orsaken till detta är att Coco Chanel överbryggar mellan den äldre och 1900-talets modehistoria.

Asians on campus: understanding the Asian Americans' experience and struggles in higher education

There are students, staff members, faculty, and administration. In examining the roles, students of Asian ancestry make up a part of a sub-category of students. In a campus population where students of different ethnic backgrounds come together to receive an education, Asian students have remained one of the minorities on a college campus. Even with a growing presence on campus, Asian American students have often been faced with additional struggles that their non-minority student counterparts face. The report will include a wide range of literature review looking at the different theoretical models, foundations, and outlines of ethnic identity development in higher education. The purpose of the report is to provide an outline of the different experiences of Asian Americans during their time at a university. The report will also acknowledge the differences, while drawing on similarities, to discuss potential outcomes for minority students. The final section of the report will include a review of recommendations and best practices for student affairs to implement in their work with Asian American students.

“Lite maskulint är ju jobbet i sig” : En socialpsykologisk studie om uniformens betydelse för polisens rollskapande och performativa handlingar

Denna studie har syftat till att undersöka polisuniformen som bärs av ingripande poliser i yttre tjänst. Detta har studerats med teorier från socialpsykologin samt genusvetenskapen med Mead, Blumer, Butler, Connell och Goffman. Metoden som använts är kvalitativa fokusgruppsintervjuer som gjorts med yrkesutövande poliser. Vid intervjuerna användes ett stimulimaterial som visades för informanterna. De resultat som kan utläsas från empirin är att de intervjuade poliserna är väl medvetna om vilka signaler de sänder till allmänheten när de bär uniform. Det framkommer även att poliserna använder sig av uniformen vid mötet med allmänheten och har en förmåga att kunna göra olika anpassningar av den samme. Vidare pekar resultatet på att uniformen kan uppfattas som normativt maskulint kodad och att detta spelar in i mötet med allmänheten.
