Communication tools in a musical event

Brzóska, Tomasz, Pirbay, Jérémy January 2008 (has links)
<p>A qualitative research was conducted to better understand the communication process connected with organizing musical festival for mass audience and the tools used to gain successful communication. Based on data collected by an interview with organizers and data found on the festival web site, theory about communication models of PR Smith and tools used in communication process, described by Kotler, were compared. One of the biggest music festivals in Europe – an Hungarian festival: the Sziget – has been chosen to evaluate its communication. </p><p>The findings show that, in terms of communication model, the company chooses the most appropriate to reach mass audience model. Mass communication model with small modifications seem to be the most appropriate for such a big organization like musical event. Communication tools used in case of a big festival also should concern about reaching mass audience. In order to do that, the tools focussed on more personal communication, such as direct marketing or personal selling can be given up in favour of tools such as advertising, publicity and PR or sales promotion, which give possibility to reach bigger audience in shorter period of time.</p>

Journalist as Information Provider: Examining the One-Voice Model of a Corporate Sports Account

Norris, Tiffany D. 08 1900 (has links)
While journalists were once viewed as gatekeepers, dispensing news and information via one-way communication channels, their role as information provider has evolved. Nowhere is this more apparent than on the social networking site Twitter, where information seekers have unprecedented access to information providers. The two-way communication that these information seekers have come to expect can be challenging for organizations such as ESPN who have multiple Twitter accounts and millions of followers. By designating one team of people as responsible for the organization's largest Twitter account, SportsCenter, ESPN has sought to establish manageable methods of interacting with this account's followers, while furthering the goals of the organization and providing sports news around the clock. This study provides a better understanding of the group responsible for ESPN's SportsCenter Twitter account: the motivation and strategies behind the group's Twitter use as well as the dynamics of this network, such as information flow and collaboration. Relying on the Information Seeking and Communication Model, this study also provides a better understanding of information exchanges with those outside the network, specifically a selection of the account's Twitter followers. Additionally, the role of journalist as information provider and certain themes that emerged from the content of the tweets are discussed. The research employed social network analysis and exploratory, descriptive case study methods. The results of this study contribute to social network and information theory as well as to journalistic and information science practice.

Micronetworking: Reliable Communication on 3D Integrated Circuits

Contreras, Andres A. 01 May 2010 (has links)
The potential failure in through-silicon vias (TSVs) still poses a challenge in trying to extend the useful life of a 3D integrated circuit (IC). A model is proposed to mitigate the communication problem in 3D integrated circuits caused by the breaks at the TSVs. We provide the details of a low-complexity network that takes advantages of redundant TSVs to make it possible to re-route around breaks and maintain effective communication between layers. Different configurations for the micronetwork are analyzed and discussed. We also present an evaluation of the micronetwork's performance, which turns out to be quite promising, based on several Monte Carlo simulations. Finally, we provide some directions for future research on the subject.

Consumer trust in online reviews : a communication model perspective / Konsumenters förtroende för onlinerecensioner : ett kommunikationsmodellperspektiv

Menfors, Martina, Fernstedt, Felicia January 2015 (has links)
Increasingly, consumers are using and relying on the opinions of others posted on onlinereview sites. However, recent scandals has brought attention to the existence of reviewmanipulation and questioned the credibility of online review sites. Furthermore, previousresearch has shown conflicting findings on whether or not consumers trust online reviews.Exploring these matters becomes important since marketers need to be able to understandconsumer trust in online reviews as it then can be used as a powerful marketing tool and as anew element of the marketing communication mix. The aim of this study is to exploreconsumer trust in online reviews by investigating why people trust online reviews, and whatmakes an online review trustworthy. This is accomplished using a modified version of theShannon and Weaver communication model which is structured around the elementsmessage, sender, receiver, channel and feedback. The study employs a qualitative methodusing semi-structured interviews in order to gain a deeper understanding of the thoughts andfeelings of the interviewees. The findings indicate that consumers do not put their trust inindividual reviews, but in the online review system as a whole; the number of reviews postedwas mentioned as the most influential factor for creating trust. The study shows that readersof reviews primarily use the message to determine whether a review is trustworthy or not.Because of the lack of information about the person writing the online review, it is the onlything the reader can truly evaluate.

Lövgren, Frida January 2008 (has links)
In this work, the focus is on communication of technical information. As a case study was used an assignment to make an operator’s manual and an instruction manual as well as a manual for spare parts concerning the filler NM-602 for Norden Machinery AB. Norden Machinery AB is world leading within tube handling and produces about 150 tube filling systems a year. The manuals belongs to a middle size machine that fills 60 tubes per minute, the buyer is Sirius Machinery Inc. in the USA, which is a company in the same concern as Norden Machinery. To the machine belongs an operator manual which is the document that is always supposed to be beside the machine and provides information about the daily routine. The machined also has an instruction manual and spare part manual, these are more detailed and they describe how the machine is built. In order to produce these manuals I used different computer programs. The one that is more special is Zert Infologic, because Norden Machinery is one of the first companies to use this program. Zert Infologic is specially designed to manage large amounts of technical information. Shannon and Weavers communication model was used to analyse the information in the manuals.. An important aspect were how does the information get transmitted to the customer and if there is noise that disturbes or complicates the process. With a special focus on noise, the results indicate that the main obstacles to the successful information transmission are the language in the manual, the technical level of the manual and the knowledge of the writer.</p>

An Application of Dimension Reduction for Intention Groups in Reddit

Sun, Xuebo, Wang, Yudan January 2016 (has links)
Reddit (www.reddit.com) is a social news platform for information sharing and exchanging. The amount of data, in terms of both observations and dimensions is enormous because a large number of users express all aspects of knowledge in their own lives by publishing the comments. While it’s easy for a human being to understand the Reddit comments on an individual basis, it is a tremendous challenge to use a computer and extract insights from it. In this thesis, we seek one algorithmic driven approach to analyze both the unique Reddit data structure and the relations inside owners of comments by their similar features. We explore the various types of communications between two people with common characteristics and build a special communication model that characterizes the potential relationship between two users via their communication messages. We then seek a dimensionality reduction methodology that can merge users with similar behavior into same groups. Along the process, we develop computer program to collect data, define attributes based on the communication model and apply a rule-based group merging algorithm. We then evaluate the results to show the effectiveness of this methodology. Our results show reasonable success in producing user groups that have recognizable group characteristics and share similar intentions.

Osseyran, Anna Caroline, Wallin, Filip January 2017 (has links)
