Med anledning av covid-19-pandemin rekommenderades gymnasieskolor att övergå till fjärr- eller distansundervisning. Detta är grunden för studiens syfte: att öka kunskapen om hur matematikundervisningen på gymnasieskolor ställts om under covid-19-pandemin och vad omställningen inneburit för lärare och elever. För att uppfylla detta syfte har lärare och elever intervjuats för att identifiera vilka typer av distansundervisning som utövats med avseende på Fåhræus och Jonssons (2002) kategorier samt vilka för- respektive nackdelar som funnits med den distansundervisning som utövats i matematik under covid-19-pandemin.  Studiens resultat visar att distans i rummet, låg distans i tiden, låg distans i strukturen samt både låg och hög distans i dialogen förekommit under distansundervisningen som skett med anledning av covid-19-pandemin. Fördelar som nämns i studien är bland annat möjligheten att spela in och spara genomgångar. Nackdelarna som framkommer i studien rör bland annat teknikens begränsningar och ämnets analoga karaktär vilket anses ha hindrat kommunikationen mellan läraren och eleven.

Coronaviruset har spridits sedan år 2020 och ändrade påtagligt vardagen runt om i världen. Seniorerna begränsades i möjligheter till aktiviteter. Syftet med denna studie har varit att beskriva omvårdnadspersonalens upplevelser att möta seniorers behov av aktiviteter och social stimulans under Coronapandemin. Studien genomfördes som en kvalitativ intervjustudie med fem deltagare som arbetade som omvårdnadspersonal på äldreboende. En kvalitativ innehållsanalys genomfördes genom analysering av det insamlade datamaterialet. Resultatet under första kategorin beskriver hur personalen har strävat efter att upprätthålla vardagen för seniorer med försök att behålla rutin och struktur genom ett förändrat arbetssätt. Andra kategorin lyfter att personalen upplever att de har ett stort ansvar och att de måste ta över en stor roll och att aktiviteterna bland seniorerna tappade mening. Under den tredje och den sista kategorin har det identifierats att personalen upplever ett bortfall av mellanmänskliga interaktioner på grund av behovet att hålla avstånd till varandra. Det har gjort att personalen upplevde en minskad nära relation till seniorerna. Deltagarna uttrycker också att de upplevde en avsaknad av samarbete med andra både hur andra äldreboenden har tillgodosett behoven av aktiviteter och social stimulans. Deltagarna uttrycker även en saknad av övriga aktörer som till exempel kyrkan som brukade ha gudstjänster eller musikskola med seniorerna.  Slutsatsen blev att personalen har försökt att ha fungerande rutiner med aktiviteter och social delaktighet trots restriktioner vilket har resulterat i både medgång och motgång. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating disease with no cure. An interdisciplinary care model is the treatment standard for patients with ALS (PALS). An interprofessional ALS clinic provides PALS and their families with evidence-based care that focuses on improved quality of life and optimization of medical services. This lightening talk will highlight how an interprofessional group of providers serving in an out-patient ALS clinic shifted their practice during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure patients and their families received the care and guidance needed to navigate their disease process. The clinic team is composed of professionals from neurology, speech language pathology, respiratory care, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, pharmacy, equipment specialist, and nursing (representing the ALS Association). Our discussion will provide the audience with a modified telehealth model that could be replicated within their own interprofessional clinic setting. This IP team was able to maintain continuity of care and meaningful connections with our PALS during an unprecedented time, through interviewing, screening, remote assessment, debriefing, and follow ups with patients and primary caregivers. As vaccinations became available to healthcare providers and specific patient populations, we responded by shifting to a hybrid model. Many PALS and their caregivers expressed gratitude for the telehealth option as they were fearful to attend an in-person visit, but hesitant to miss a clinical appointment due to their multifaceted needs. Additionally, as the condition progresses, traveling to an office, pandemic or not, becomes a significant burden for PALS and their caregivers. As things return to a new-normal, modified telehealth should be considered as a viable option for those taking care of PALS in order to maintain the delivery of services, obtain the essential equipment in this patient population, and provide caregiver support.

No / The COVID-19 virus pandemic has again demonstrated the devastating impact that a microbial pathogen can have on our health, society and economic systems. It necessitates a fundamental rethink of how the security of our societies can be better sustained. This rethinking will require many aspects of our security systems to be re-examined, but we concentrate here on the consequences of the rapid advances being made in the life and associated sciences. In this chapter, we will describe and analyse one of the most likely means by which the BTWC could be strengthened at the 9th Review Conference, namely: agreement of an International Aspirational Code of Conduct supported by mandatory biological security education for life and associated scientists. We conclude that a vigorous effort by civil society will be needed to assist the achievement of an agreement on this issue at the 9th Review Conference.

Yes / The purpose of this study is twofold. Firstly, the authors have conducted a systematic investigation considering the historical pandemic periods (1991–2021) over 30 years to identify critical factors and business failure phenomenon during pandemics to explore “what”, “why” and “how” factors contributing to business failure during the COVID-19 pandemic and secondly identified interlinks of these factors to explain the phenomenon of business failure strategically through various quantitative models.
