Rakt på sak! : Ett arbete om effektiva och funktionella webbtexter

Den ökade tillgången till internet i svenska hem betyder att vem som helst har tillgång till olika typer av information. Samtidigt ökar omsättningen hos den svenska detaljhandeln, både i butiker och för den svenska e-handeln. Därför ställs det högre krav på webbtexter, så att alla kan förstå dem. Den här studien handlar om hur webbtexter, i form av artiklar, bör skrivas på Elgigantens svenska webbplats. På uppdrag åt Elgiganten har det befintliga materialet analyserats för att ge feedback på vad som är positivt och negativt. Det ska leda fram till vad som kan förbättras för att skapa effektiva och funktionella webbtexter som riktar sig till en bred målgrupp. Begrepp hämtade från informationsdesign, klarspråk och användbarhet på webben ligger till grund för de kvalitativa metoder som har använts i den här studien. Olika typer av analyser har utförts på det befintliga materialet på Elgigantens webbplats och målgruppen har intervjuats. Resultatet från metoderna visar att artiklarna inte är tillräckligt funktionella och bör effektiviseras. Utifrån resultatet har nya artiklar arbetats fram. De nya artiklarna är anpassade för en bred målgrupp med olika typer av läsare med skiftande läsförmåga. Slutsatsen av denna studie är resultatet av hur webbtexter bör skrivas baserat på följande punkter: 1. Ta reda på målgruppen 2. Anpassa för läsaren 3. Call to action (skapa en handling hos läsaren) 4. Konsekvens i artiklar 5. Artiklar ska vara sökbara Dessa principer ligger därför till grund för hur alla webbtexter bör anpassas på Elgigantens svenska webbplats, oavsett information och målgrupp.

Increasing the Number of African American Students in Undergraduate Level Classes of Chinese: A Call to Action

Chinese language is the only ideographic language remaining in the world (Osaka, 1976). It conveys affluent Chinese culture and has great influences on the East Asian countries (Miyake, 2013). In the economic globalization of the world, China's economy and international influence are expanding. For these reasons and many more the Chinese language is widely accepted as one of the major world languages. It makes sense then Chinese language classes are experiencing popularity and growth with United States undergraduates. Despite this growth, however, the enrollment of African American students is constantly low in college Chinese language classrooms (Li, Wen, & Xie, 2014). This call to action argues that this low representation of African American students lies on a course promotion system that denies African American students a preliminary learning opportunity that systematically limits their representation in Chinese language classrooms from the beginning.<br> This call for action examines systematic avenues for creating early opportunities. First the study explores the utility of offering African American students an informational workshop introducing the features of the language and the potential benefits of learning it. Next the study examines the leverage that could be gained by providing direct feedback and assessing student interest to explore whether students are more inclined to enroll in Chinese language courses following the information workshop. Such a process could lead to suggested policy changes that might close the enrollment gap between the African American students and their peers. This call for action considers the reality that even a well-designed action plan may not always produce positive consequences. Therefore, an impact evaluation is explored along with suggested instruments and uses. Finally possible outcomes of an impact evaluation are described.<br> To ground this call for action, a set of foundational theories are employed that mainly include networked improvement communities, leadership and teamwork, and critical theories. The call for action strongly suggests the iterative cycle of Plan, Design, Study, and Act (PDSA) of the NIC improvement science (Bryk, Gomez, & Grunow, 2011) in the change process beginning with the examination of a local four-year university Chinese Studies Program. / School of Education; / Professional Doctorate in Educational Leadership (ProDEL) / EdD; / Dissertation;

Color and Color Placement Effects on Purchase Intent of Loot Boxes in Video Games

Research on the effects of color associations in gambling situations has especially come to the forefront in recent times with the rise of casinos and other sales techniques in which consumers do not know the outcome of their purchases. Loot boxes are a unique form of micro-transactions in video games where players are uncertain about the objects they will receive with their monetary purchase. The aim of this study is to explore the effects of color and color placement in ads on loot box purchase intent. It will contribute to research about color perception in marketing and will, more specifically, establish a link between color associations in Call-to-Action (CTA) buttons and online video game environments in which gambling takes place. This research sets out to demonstrate that the color red, when placed in a foreground CTA button will achieve the highest purchase intent for a theoretical loot box in an online video game scenario. The study tests the placement of the color (foreground and background) and the color itself (red, blue, and gray).

Evaluating scroll-hijacking techniques in the context of call-to-action specific websites

The rapid improvement of hardware and internet speed in modern societies has contributed to more vibrant websites with lots of motion, which often has a correlation to a better user experience, but not always. Scroll-hijacked websites are one of the more controversial techniques, a questionable action where one modifies the default scroll behaviour, which affects the preconceived notions about how to navigate a website. But the effect can be beneficial when one wants to draw attention to crucial call-to-action (CTA) elements.  This thesis resulted in creating a scroll-hijacked prototype based on an already deployed event website with lots of vital CTA elements. The developed prototype was then evaluated against the old website through A/B testing with SUS- and NASA-TLX-surveys. These tests and evaluations were performed by a user study with 44 participants. During the thesis, it was found that there are areas of use where it can be favourable to use scroll-hijacking to increase attention for CTA elements, and thereby increase the conversion, but it requires a thoughtful application.

The Role of Serology Testing to Strengthen Vaccination Initiatives and Policies for COVID-19 in Europe

This review explores and positions the value of serology testing to support current immunization policies and the broader policy response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis in Europe. We applied an exploratory approach to analysing existing evidence, international recommendations, and national policies using desk research from secondary sources, document analysis, and expert information. Regional and country-level resources from five focus countries were included: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Seven experts in the fields of COVID-19 immunization, serology testing, seroepidemiology, and vaccine safety and effectiveness studies contributed to the review and convened in two online panel sessions. The paper includes an overview of (1) the impact of the pandemic to date, (2) testing strategies, (3) COVID-19 vaccination policies, (4) lessons on using serology testing to support immunization, (5) current policies and recommendations on the use of a serology testing strategy, and (6) implementation barriers and challenges. Finally, this paper also provides a set of knowledge-based recommendations to advance the effective and timely inclusion of serology testing and resolve impeding knowledge gaps. The recommendations herein are intended to support timely decision-making, raise awareness, guide advocacy initiatives, and inspire future studies.
