It is an analysis of the mentioned book, whose aim is to observe the characteristics and attitudes of the characters elaborated by the author and his comic and ironic language as well, used for him in order to deal with matters related to the daily life, and suggests the coexistence of the good and evil which are revealed in human actions. In this way, will be highlighted the situations which were narrated in the book and can be related to some behaviors which refer to the flaws. Therefore, they can be associated to the seven capital sins, listed by Tomas de Aquino and the virtues which oppose them. Accordingly, we will be emphasize the work’s symbolical composition, as well as will be verified the dialogical relation between theology and literature. The components, the sins and virtues, whose are implicitly interconnected, are an introductory element for a reflection about the human nature ambivalence, whereby the correspondence to the seven dead characters from the novel with the known seven capital sins, as well as the actions of the characters that can be related to the virtues, allows through the literary verb to point the human being vocation to the good and to the evil, whose the frontiers is where the hope emerges.

Azevedo, Natanael Duarte de 30 May 2012 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 820641 bytes, checksum: 14bb9bdbcff2eb6a60db83f7c1376322 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-05-30 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This present paper intends to works with studies about perversion, including the conception of deviant sexuality, from Middle age, to the structuralist studies proposed by Jacques Lacan, verifying in the movie Seven, by David Fincher, the possibility of interpreting that John Doe s acts are characteristics of perversion. Our object is to demonstrate how the serial killer s actions in the movie Seven can reveal movements of the unconscious that follow a motivation/manipulation of desire. To accomplish our goal, we will resort to three lines of theoretical discussion: 1) the perversion under the vision of fetishization (objectification of the sexual desire), the brain degeneration, the substitution of the desire and psychological structure (Cf. ROUDINESCO, 2008; BINET 1904 [1879]; KRAFFT-EBING (apud ROUDINESCO, 2008); FREUD, 1989 [1905]; LACAN, 1988 [1956] and 1999 [1958]);2) the seven capital sins as a way of maintenance and reintegration of the power of the church (Cf. DELUMEAU, 2003; LE GOFF, 2011; AQUINO, 2000); 3) the filmic adaptation through the prism of transtextuality (Cf. STAM, 2006; ANDREW, 1984; HUTCHEON, 2011). We analyze the film Seven seeking to infer from the crimes committed by the murderer John Doe, the movements of the unconscious that reveal the diviation of the desire to objectification of the victims. We realize that the diviation of the sexual objects can be seen both from the point of view of the religious inversion such as psychoanalysis. For our analysis, we will show the verbal and visual texts of the murders presented by the film, then, we propose the analysis of the sequence of crimes based on two types of perversion: voyeuristic (pleasure to look at the other) and sadism (pleasure to overpower the other). We observed in our research the intrinsic relationship between voyeur and sadistic acts and religious motivation witch can determine the crimes by the purification of the capital sins. Thereby, with the possibility of reading the film Seven as an adaptation based on source texts that deal with themes such as sin and transgression of the law, we saw that the construction of the film reveals us a (re) reading of the texts about capital sins and clinical work with perversion patients.

Les deux traités à Euloge d'Evagre le Pontique : introduction, édition critique, traduction, commentaire et notes / The two treatises addressed to Eulogius by Evagrius Ponticus : a critical edition with French translation, commentary and notes

Fogielman, Charles-Antoine 17 January 2015 (has links)
Evagrius Ponticus expounded his ascetic philosophy, centered on the notion of a list of vices and corresponding virtues, in several treatises, several of which have already been critically edited. The present work consists of an introduction, an edition, and a French translation of two texts which stand out, to a certain degree, within the Evagrian opus. The treatise addressed to the monk Eulogius, along with its appendix describing the Vices opposed to Virtues, which appears adjoined to the former in a majority of manuscripts, display stylistic and doctrinal characteristics which have often called its authenticity into question. A detailed study of the manuscript testimony, both of the Greek original and of the various oriental versions (Syriac, Arabic, Armenian, Georgian and Ethiopic), has allowed us to confirm the treatises' authenticity and to establish their text reliably, as it can be seen to have suffered considerable turmoil during its transmission. Aside from material damage, Evagrius' works, in the Greek medium, were mainly distributed under the name of Nilus of Ancyra, owing to Evagrius' condemnation for alleged Origenism, at the council of Constantinople II in 553. The accompanying commentary aims at addressing the proximity of Evagrian thought with the legacy of Origen, as well as highlighting the formation, formulation, and posterity of that most remarkable of Evagrian doctrines, the list of vices, and the philosophical and ascetic context wherein it originated.
