Aim: The study aims at investigating how the choice of the auditor's initial negotiation strategy is influenced by the charismatic leadership exercised by the client's CFO. The research questions also concern which negotiation strategies are most likely that the auditor chooses to apply when the client's CFO is perceived as charismatic. Method: The study is based on positivistic and deductive approach, through which I have tested the result of a quantitative survey with theories in the field. The study has a cross sectional design. The data collection was done through a web-based survey that was sent to auditors operating in Sweden. Result & Conclusions: The study confirms that the term charismatic leader is relevant in this context as it shows that respondents experience strong and weak leaders in their daily negotiation action in terms of charismatic leaders. Furthermore, the study could identify a link between one of the negotiation strategies and charismatic leadership. Suggestions for future research: The study contributes to the accounting literature by stating the relationship between auditors and their clients, and more specifically the negotiation between auditors and clients as a social phenomenon. Furthermore, the study is alone in applying the charismatic leadership as an impact factor on the auditor's choice of negotiation strategy. Contribution of the thesis: The limitations of the study consist of the low response rate and the difficulty in staging the effects of charismatic leadership. Further studies should adopt a more experimental character to further explain the potential impact that charismatic leadership may have on the auditors' choice of negotiation strategy as well as a study of how the client's choice of negotiation strategy influences the auditor's choice of negotiation strategy.

Previous issue date: 2010-11-19 / The Catholic Charismatic Renewal (RCC) has drawn the attention of social
researchers for the great participation of young people not only in prayer groups,
which form the basis of RCC, but also in its organization, and the works of the
parishes in evangelization. It is increasingly noted the strong presence of youth
actively performing, producing and consuming everything that concerns the
charismatic communities and attracting other young people to their groups, making
use mainly of music and media. This dissertation deals with the Catholic
Charismatic Renewal (RCC) described by its young members 15-29 years,
belonging to two parishes in the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, the Parish of
Nossa Senhora Mãe da Igreja (MDI) and Parish of Nossa Senhora Rainha (NSR).
By participant observation and thematic stories where the interviewees recount
their experiences in the group, we seek to show how the RCC uses music and the
mass media, especially television and the Internet to attract young people and turn
them into their new media evangelists. The resulting model couple of the reports
was constructed using the parameters of sexuality, conversion and lay leadership.
The theoretical framework that gives support to this research was designed from
the ideas of modernity by Zygmunt Bauman and Georges Balandier as well as
studies of Emile Durkheim and Peter Berger on religion. The emphasis on
fieldwork enabled socio-anthropological analysis of this option for the youth in
modern religion, which joined the RCC shows a return to the sacred and the
pursuit of religious belonging for young people in Belo Horizonte / A Renovação Carismática Católica (RCC) tem chamado a atenção dos
grupos, usando principalmente a música e a mídia.
Senhora Rainha (NSR).
ênfase no trabalho etnográfico permitiu análise sócio-antropológica dessa opção

Previous issue date: 2012-03-20 / This work addresses the importance of performance and rituals to establish the
identity of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement. It brings out the history of
this movement and its Neo-Pentecostal origins, identifying elements from this
movement s doctrine and conversion s strategy. Based on a literature review and
participant observation this works considers the concepts from social
anthropology, which may be useful for reading the identity basis of the movement:
the concepts of etnoscenology and performances. Coming from the
etnoscenolographia the etnoscenology is an aspect of the etnoscience that studies
the human s behavior well-organized (mixed of artistic practices and non-artistic,
like religious rituals). Under this perspective, the etnoscenology studies looping
acts that follow rules already established that individuals from a community can
identify themselves. Another concept approached in this work relates to the
performance s notion (theoretical-practical arising from anthropology and
sociology) and researches the collective actions in their rituals. This performance s
notion comes from the dynamic phenomena, which occurs as collective movement
where social s actors and their reception take part. Based on these principles, this
research shows the body and gestural elements that we can see in the
charismatic s etnoscenology. The use of body techniques, such as touch, hands
laying and kneel, mixed with prays, sings and dances were considered as
fundamental scenic s elements to make this identity movement. Adding to this
performance aspects of glossolalia (brought out from the early Church) as special
concession given to devotees. It appears, from the research made, that the
etnoscenics performances are fundamental to give identity to the movement.

Charismatic brazilian catholicism in Portugal.Gabriel, Eduardo 04 August 2010 (has links)
This work examines the international religious diffusion, investigating in details the arrival of the Brazilian community Canção Nova in Portugal, in 1998. This community was founded by Father Jonas Abib in 1978 in the Vale do Paraiba region, and belongs to the so-called RCC (Renovação Carismática Católica) Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Today, having its statutes recognized by the Holy See, Cancao Nova is one the most important charismatic communities in Brazil. The beginning of the communitys missionary works in Portugal is the current face of the Brazilian RCC: international expansion. Throughout this work, we demonstrate that this recent expansion can be classified as the fourth phase of the Brazilian charismatic movement, the previous phases being: arrival in Brazil and local expansion; institutionalization; the use of local mass media. The current phase shows the same conflicts as the phases before, with the addition of new ones, namely: confrontations of religious expression between particular cultures and broader national contexts. This will be our main point of discussion in this thesis, based on our observation Canção Nova in Portugal.

Religião e juventude: os jovens carismáticos / Religion and youth: the charismatic youthSofiati, Flávio Munhoz 11 December 2009 (has links)
The scope of this doctoral study is the relationship between Catholic Pentecostalism with its youth base, in particular the analysis of the general aspects of the charismatic youth for purposes of: identifying the means utilized by the Catholic Charismatic Renovation to attract followers and understanding how assimilation of religious education developed in the movement is carried out. This work emphasizes sociological and historical aspects of charismatic followers by focusing on the youth group \"Today I will No Longer Sin\" within the subgroups Life and Alliance Community New Chants (Canção Nova). In this manner, the problem addressed herein is related to the process of attraction-formation developed by this Catholic movement. Therefore, this study attempts to answer three questions: How does the Catholic Charismatic Renovation see the difficulties faced by the youth as a result of the lack of perspective in society today? How does the religious experience address these difficulties? What are the changes created by this movement in the life of its youth base? The Weberian concept of religion is employed in this study, in which elements of the Gramscian analysis are utilized to assist in broadening the scope of the questions herein. In this manner, religions can be associated to historical movements, thereby inserting them within the global society. One of the main conclusions reached is that the evangelization of the youth is based on a welldefined trajectory; this very youths participation in the movement, however, is temporary in nature due to disputes within religious and erotic spheres that drive most of them away from the churches.

Intra-African Pentecostalism and the dynamics of power : the Living Faith Church worldwide (Winners' Chapel) in Cameroon, 1996-2016Chewachong, Amos Bongadu January 2017 (has links)
The embeddedness of Pentecostal/Charismatic tenets within contemporary global frameworks of transnational power reveals the ability of religion to shape the sociocultural and spiritual experiences of people on the move from one place to another. For this reason, sociologists of religion and scholars of World Christianity have noted the rapid missionary expansion of African Pentecostal/Charismatic movements to the northern hemisphere. Some have even referred to the missionary work of non-western forms of Christianity in the western world as the ‘Southernisation of European Christianity’. But if the aggressive strategies adopted by African Pentecostal/Charismatic churches in the western diaspora are intended to reawaken Christianity in Europe, what then is the motivation for intra-African Pentecostal/Charismatic movements in traversing national boundaries, with their distinctive version of the Christian faith, making Africa a theatre in which Christian missionaries are both sent and received? This thesis examines the intra-African missionary praxis of a highly influential Nigerian Pentecostal/Charismatic church, the Winners’ Chapel, and its accompanying power dynamics in Cameroon from 1996 to 2016. Using a qualitative research approach, the study examines the character of transnational Pentecostal/Charismatic movements in Africa, using Winners’ Chapel in Cameroon as a case study. After an investigation of the emergence of the church, the study examines the various strategies used to achieve and maintain control of the mother church in Nigeria over its daughter church in Cameroon, such as the deployment of Nigerian missionaries, the use of Nigerian-defined Winners’ Chapel tenets in Cameroon, the place of sermons and testimonies, and the role of the media. The thesis studies the conflicts of loyalty and contestations that emerge between Nigerian Winners’ Chapel missionaries to Cameroon and their Cameroonian colleagues in Cameroon. It concludes with an assessment of how far Winners’ Chapel can be said to contribute to the provision of social capital and empowerment in Cameroon. The findings in this study provide a significant and original contribution to the understanding of how power dynamics can operate within complex relationships between transnational Pentecostal/Charismatic actors (missionaries), and their receiving countries colleagues in the continent of Africa. It also contributes to the literature on African Pentecostalism but offers fresh insights into the encounters, contestations, and resistance that emerge between ‘founder-owners’ and recruited workers of intra-African Pentecostal/Charismatic Movements. By appropriating international relations concepts such as Joseph Nye’s ideas of ‘soft power’ and concepts in the sociology of religion such as Peggy Levitt’s ‘remittances’, popularised by Afe Adogame, the study potentially unveils the nexus between international relations, the sociology of religion and development within Pentecostalist transnational discourses in Africa.

Forged in the crucible of defensive jihad : Arab foreign fighters and their trajectory to involvement in Islamist terrorismWarren, Roger Patrick January 2017 (has links)
This thesis challenges the conventional wisdom that tends to conflate Arab foreign fighters with Islamist terrorists, and ‘martyrdom operations' with ‘suicide attacks.' Overlaps notwithstanding, it aims to draw distinctions between Arab foreign fighters engaged in defensive jihad defending co-religionists against a military foe, and Islamist terrorists engaged in terrorism that indiscriminately targets civilians and non-combatants. Critically, while disaggregating the two transnational cohorts, this thesis also illuminates the nexus between them. It draws on a thesis dataset of 3,010 Arab foreign fighters compiled using biographies, martyrdom eulogies, and postings on ‘jihadi' websites, in both English and Arabic. This dataset is then used to support three case studies involving the defensive jihads in 1980s Afghanistan, Iraq (post 2003), and Syria (post 2011). It leverages a theoretical framework based on the concept of radicalisation and the language of political Islam, whilst concurrently drawing on theories from psychology and historical military examples of combat, germane to defensive jihad and Islamist terrorism. The thesis concludes that Arab foreign fighters involved in defensive jihad employ martyrdom operations against military targets, through tactical necessity. Conversely, Islamist terrorists employ suicide attacks against civilians and non-combatants, through ideological necessity. The trajectory between the two transnational mobilisations appears to be broadly underpinned by facets of the Lucifer Effect – the situational factors encountered whilst participating in defensive jihad, including but not limited to, the experience of close combat in a war zone; being subjected to ideological indoctrination; and being exposed to charismatic authority and obedience to it. This suggests that subsequent involvement in Islamist terrorism by some Arab foreign fighters is primarily forged in the crucible of defensive jihad. Such findings should result in the crafting of more individualised de-radicalisation and rehabilitation programmes for returning foreign fighters, in both the West and the Arab world.

Tillbaka till framtiden. Det karismatiska ledarskapets återkomst / Back to the future. The return of the charismatic leadershipGolombioschi Jonsson, Violeta, Lundmark, Ulrika January 2011 (has links)
Nyckelord: Ledarskap, ledarskapsstilar, historiska ledare, karisma, karismatiska ledare / Title: Back to the future. The return of the charismatic leadership. Level: Final assignment for Bachelor Degree in Business Administration Author: Ulrika Lundmark & Violeta Jonsson Supervisor: Lars Ekstrand Date: 2011 – 05 Aim: The purpose of this study is to show by means of historical examples how the charismatic leadership has acted on the world scene and discuss its possible return. More specifically we want answers to those questions: How we want to define the charismatic leaders in the future? What is the ideal leadership and why? Is there a future for the charismatic leader? Method: Using historical examples, we look for the charismatic leadership characteristics. The survey was conducted through the reading of various writings on historical and contemporary leadership. The essay is based on a qualitative study because the base of the study consists of already written material but there is an element of quantitative study in which our own experience of different leadership types has the lead role. This study is based on an analysis model, analysis of the historical and present-day charismatic leadership. From these perspectives, we have tried to get an idea of what kind of leadership, the future society can accept. Result & Conclusions: Our conclusion is that depending on where in society we are, we will meet with various types of leaders but to the charismatic leadership (part of) will be intertwined with a democratic organization and the possibility that a new leadership style takes shape is big.The results of the study will be presented in our last chapter, conclusions. Suggestions for future research: Of all the leadership styles, we have restricted this study to the charismatic leadership that we thought was a fascinating topic. The charismatic leadership is worth being studied and documented in more detail. We believe that a study about to find the nuances that make possible to reconcile the democratic leadership style with the charismatic leadership would be interesting. Contribution of the thesis: The essay has contributed to an increase in our understanding of how the charismatic leadership works and opens the door for a variety of essay options for future students. Key words: Leadership, leadership styles, historical leaders, charisma, charismatic leaders
