By evoking memories of Carmelinda Maria, who is the wife of the founder of this familiar group, her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters recreate fragments of this woman s life history at the same time they weave their own lives. In this sense, past and present meet through memory, composing the narratives of these women s lives, who present their traditions and relationships experienced inside and outside the community; the female and the male; the family relationships; the working relationships; racism, the congado, and the changes influenced by urban space and time. By considering some ethnographic data combined with the theory of memory, we tried to comprehend the existing transformations and continuities among different generations of women in Arturos, mainly between the youngest and oldest generations, taking into account the changes in behaviors, customs, values, and worldviews that are presented according to the historical and social process experienced by them. In relation to older generations, the young people express changes in their perceptions and relationships with the world and their own community. All these issues involve a web of meanings defined through these female narratives in this research work / Esta tese tem como objetivo estudar a trajetória das mulheres da comunidade negra dos Arturos, localizada na cidade de Contagem, próximo a Belo Horizonte, no estado de Minas Gerais. A partir da evocação das memórias sobre Carmelinda Maria esposa do fundador deste agrupamento familiar, filhas, netas e bisnetas recriam fragmentos da história de vida desta mulher e ao mesmo tempo, tecem os fios de suas próprias vidas. Neste sentido, passado e presente se encontram através da memória, tecendo a trajetória dessas mulheres que trazem as suas tradições e as relações vividas dentro e fora da comunidade; o feminino e masculino; as relações familiares, relações de trabalho; o racismo; o congado e as mudanças influenciadas pelo espaço e tempo urbano. A partir de dados etnográficos entrelaçados com a teoria da memória, buscou-se compreender as transformações e permanências existentes entre as gerações de mulheres Arturos, sobretudo entre as jovens e as gerações mais velhas, refletindo sobre as mudanças de comportamento, costumes, valores, visões de mundo que se apresentam de acordo com o processo histórico e social vivido por cada uma delas. A juventude em relação com as gerações mais velhas manifestam mudanças nas percepções e relações com o mundo e com a própria comunidade. Todas estas questões envolvem uma rede de significados que serão tecidos ao longo deste trabalho, por meio dessas narrativas femininas
