Kulturhuset SILO

Ihrfors, Veronica January 2022 (has links)
This project focuses on making a “Folkets hus”, a form of community centre available for its surrounding inhabitants to express their identities and experience different cultures, these buildings usually contain libraries, theatre, restaurants, art centre, educational spaces, a child section and more. The city chosen for this project was Arboga, a small old industrial town from the 13th century a few miles west about Eskilstuna. Approximately 14,100 inhabitants, of which 11,400 live in the city. Arboga has identified that the after school-centre and culture school needs to be expanded and renovated, due to a higher demand. There is also a demand for more houses and living space adapted for the elderly. I picked an old abandoned silo industry building next to a very old beautiful park to work on. The building has not been standing for more than 50 years and is already abandoned. I saw an opportunity to urbanise the building and give locals the chance to use its height to see their city from above. My project called  “SILO” is a six floor community centre and a ten floor high apartment building. The community centre contains: restaurants, library, dance rooms, theatre room, music and radio room, art room, after school-centre, art gallery, lecture room, rooftop with a garden, an office floor and lots of spaces focusing on creative activities for all ages. The apartment building to the east contains eighteen 1 room apartments and eighteen 3 room apartments. Cirka 14 100 invånare därav 11 400 bor I staden. Hyreshuset i öster innehåller arton anpassade 1:or och arton loft 3:or.

Hub and Axis

Hansen, Gary Alan 27 July 2010 (has links)
The project is for the central building of a community center used by the communities of Blacksburg and Christiansburg. The building is a space configured as a hub that uses axes to determine entering, exiting and vertical movement. The hub configuration of the building is in concentric rings around the atrium in both space and materials. As materials were brought into the building, they enhanced the strong axial configuration and emphasized the layers surrounding the central hub space of the atrium. There are two pairs of axes in the building. The entrance axes are perpendicular to the faces of the building and provide lines of sight through it. They also establish the paths of entering and exiting the building. The diagonal axes regulate the vertical movement throughout the building. / Master of Architecture

Immersive experience between neurodivergence and neurotypicality Community Center for and by Autistic adults

Sangani, Devanshi Alpeshbhai 17 June 2024 (has links)
This thesis explores the design of a community center tailored for autistic adults, aiming to foster inclusivity and blur boundaries between neurodiverse and non-neurodiverse individuals. Through interdisciplinary approaches, it investigates spatial and sensory elements to create an immersive experience where everyone can perceive the world through an autistic person's perspective. By prioritizing sensory inclusivity and participatory design, the center aims to provide a supportive environment for exploration and interaction. Additionally, it explores how immersive experiences can cultivate empathy, bridging gaps and fostering genuine connections. Ultimately, this thesis advocates for a paradigm shift in community space design, celebrating neurodiversity and promoting unity. / Master of Architecture / This thesis explores the design of a community center tailored for autistic adults, aiming to foster inclusivity and blur boundaries between neurodiverse and non-neurodiverse individuals. Centro de desarrollo comunitario en San Juan de Lurigancho / Community Development Center in San Juan de Lurigancho

Schoof Aguirre, María Isabel 23 May 2019 (has links)
The present investigation seeks to set the guidelines for the correct design of a Community Center that contributes to supply the infrastructure deficit of a sector of the district of San Juan de Lurigancho. It has started from the social problems of the area and the investigation of the typology to introduce specific functions according to the requirements of the population of the area. Likewise, reference projects, both national and foreign, help to shape the proposal. The chosen terrain and its surroundings are defined and analyzed, the type and quantity of the user, the frequency of use and the radius of action of the project, all taking special consideration in the integral design of the project with their city. Hence, emphasis is placed on the integration of exterior and interior spaces so that, public space, the environment and the pedestrian guide the formal and spatial approach of the proposal. / Tesis

Ar bendruomenės centras yra subjektas, kuriam Lietuvos Respublikos administracinių bylų teisenos įstatymas numato teisę ginti viešąjį interesą teisme? / Is a community center a subject under the Lithuanian Law on Administrative Proceedings which has a right to plead public interests in court?

Cechanavičienė, Žydra 07 August 2008 (has links)
Temos problematika. [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The relationship between the citizen and the state in most European states is no longer understood in terms of preservation of states power, but focused on the protection of citizen rights again abuse by the state. In these latter years efforts of society to protect its rights and interests are very appreciable: various non-governmental organizations, activity groups are formed to strive to participate in enactment of decisions in public sector by administrative authorities, to have an opportunity to test the legality and transparency of these decisions and administrative procedures, to appeal the decision and so on. More and more attention is given not only to protection of private person against abuse by administrative authorities, but to protection of public interest – rights and freedoms that are essentially significant, necessary and valuable to the society. Establishment of community organizations or community centers is here a new process, just recently started in Lithuania, but nowadays getting intense – more and more community organizations are formed as in urban, so in the rural territories. There is no one act to regulate basic principles in formatting community organizations as well as carrying on its activities, legal personality, rights and responsibilities and other essential questions, so there comes some obscurities, ambiguities and concepts complexities about community organizations and community. Recognizing community as people, living in certain... [to full text]

Bendruomenės centrų vaidmuo socialinių paslaugų sistemoje / The role of community centers in the system of social services

Dolmantienė, Edita 13 January 2009 (has links)
Tikslui pasiekti šiame darbe naudojamas kiekybinio tipo tyrimas. Bendruomenės lygmenyje socialinių poreikių ir lūkesčių... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / One of the most effective third sector organizations working in the social services is a community centre. Community centre as an organization can take a great load of social work from government, collaborating with governmental institutions and other nongovernmental organizations, by absorbing some functions and becoming an intermediate between the individual and the governmental policy. In Lithuania as in the whole world social security and social services is a relevant part of governmental policy. Governmental institutions are not always capable to provide effective social service care, especially when new sources of social problems occur – migration problems, addiction problems and other. Community centers as the closest institution to the individual may be oriented into the prevention, preventing the social problem from developing and not the liquidation of the consequences, to present the complex work that include all the groups of risk in society. The purpose of this work is to identify the role of the community centers in Kaunas social service’s system according to the opinion of the recipients. The subject of this work is the role of the community centers in social services’ system. To achieve the purpose a quantitative analysis was used. In the community level the evaluation of the social needs and expectations is very important, because it is the base, a community development can be constructed and the guidelines of the social services can be prognosticated. Reconsidering the Community Center - Restorative Strategies Within Existing Frameworks

Gilbert, John, III 29 August 2014 (has links)
The overarching goal of this investigation is to determine how an existing building of spatial and programmatic rigidity can serve as a framework for designing a more integrated center for personal and community development. This project is an exploration of what a building can evolve into after its "shelf-life" has expired, with the aid of a reconsidered architectural vision. Formulated within criteria individual to its context, it is intended to be an investigation of possibility and the testing of a nascent potential, not an attempt to serve as a prescriptive, panacea solution. It is an examination of a creative vision in the development of a more responsive and expressive community space. Through this exploration, the architectural experience as derived from a subject-object perspective will be investigated and considered, as well as the art of placemaking in crafting a design strategy that is responsive to its immediate context, reconsidering the ability of architecture to generate meaning and experience outside of its prototypically considered building-envelope boundaries. By focusing on the potential to for personal and community-based growth and development, three avenues of program will be explored: Education, Experience, and Expression. Serving as an intersection point between cultural production and cultural consumption, the transmission of this cultural capital has the ability to gestate a deeper sense of identity amongst the embedded community.

Centro Comunitario para adolescentes y jóvenes en Villa El Salvador / Community Center for adolescents and youth in Villa El Salvador

Herrera Dávalos, Valeria Margot 15 September 2020 (has links)
The research work proposes the creation of a community center in Villa El Salvador with the emphasis on permeability. That arises from the need for the place because it lacks spaces and opportunities in the district that promote social, cultural and sports activities in order to contribute to the development of youth and adolescents at the neighborhood level of the sector. A community center is proposed as a place of help and complement for the community. In which they can invest their free time and also take advantage of it. In order to have more references from the community center, reference projects with the same typology and also with the same emphasis at the national level and abroad were analyzed. The emphasis of permeability in architecture is primarily on the transition from exterior to interior. Considering important aspects such as the sunlight of the place, the materiality and the technological aspects in order to transmit the emphasis on the project. We conclude that the project aims to enhance the individual and collective capacities of those who live on the margins, in turn providing public and semi-public spaces to the pre-existing community. / Trabajo de investigación
