Testning av betongskivor för inredningsändamål / Testing of concrete slabs for interior decoration puposes

Ashrafi, Karzan, Ali Ahmed, Ibrahim January 2021 (has links)
The following thesis aims to develop a new way to use concrete as interior material. Concrete has always been used in larger scale buildings, infrastructure and in other categories. Recently the modern interior design started to use concrete indoors for example as countertop or as a shelf. This thesis focuses on one main question: is concrete a good material choice for interior use. To answer that question, we decided to have sub questions to help to get to the main question. The following questions needed test and analysis methods to get to the answers:    - Calculate and test the strength of concrete    - Test impact resistance    - Analyze how concrete reacts with chemicals with different PH-values    - Study the production of concrete    - Relation between environment and concrete Lab tests, literature sources, and field studies was used as methods to answer those questions. The results shows that concrete can be utilized as interior material and can be used to a greater extent than is the case today. In conclusion concrete is a good material as used for interior purposes and the future technology will decrease carbon dioxide emissions that comes with production of the concrete. That will make concrete even better as material to use in the future.

Etudes expérimentales et numériques du comportement des dalles épaisses en béton armé sous chargement de cisaillement et interaction cisaillement/effet de membrane : Application aux bâtiments nucléaires / Experimental and numerical studies of shear behavior of thick reinforced concrete slabs and shear/membrane effect interaction : Application to nuclear buildings

Nana, Wendpanga Serge Auguste 20 November 2017 (has links)
This study, based on experiments and numerical modeling, aims at a better understanding of the shear behavior of reinforced concrete slabs. An experimental campaign was carried out on full-scale thick slabs typical of nuclear power plant slabs. These slabs without shear reinforcement are subjected to a quasi-static shear loading. The tests are carried out by varying different parameters that can influence the shear behavior: the concrete compressive strength, the slab depth, the bottom longitudinal and transverse reinforcement ratio, the concrete aggregate size, the loading plate length. The influence on shear behavior of compression or tension membrane forces has also been analyzed. The results of tests are then compared with the predictions of the calculation codes. These results first of all helped to answer the differences between the Eurocode 2 and the French National Annex concerning the prediction of the shear capacity of reinforced concrete slabs. The level of accuracy given by other shear dimensioning standards was also assessed: The American standard ACI 318-14, the AFCEN ETC-C 2010 code used for nuclear buildings, the fib-Model 2010 and the Critical Shear Crack Theory. Next, we evaluate the possibilities of a non-linear finite element analysis (EF) to reproduce the phenomenon of shear in slabs. An elastoplastic concrete model with damage was used and combined with a quasi-static analysis using an explicit resolution scheme. Appropriate nonlinear behavior laws of concrete with post-peak behaviors associated with an energy criterion were considered. The good agreement between the proposed model and the experimental results in terms of shear strength and failure modes allowed validating the proposed modeling. A parametric study was conducted based on the numerical proposed model with the same mechanical properties of concrete. Simplified laws allowing estimating the shear capacities according to the different parameters studied are proposed.

The mechanism of transfer of longitudinal shear stresses on the interface between the beam and the slab usually occurs by means of shear connectors. In this case, the set of two materials behavior depends on the strength and rigidity of the connector on the interface, being well known for connectors with pin-type head associated with massive concrete slab. However, there is little information on shear connectors with pin-type head associated with hollowcore slab concrete. This study aims to determine, by means of direct shear tests, the resistance of connectors with pin-type head when associated with cellular slab and precast concrete presence of cover concrete. Hollow core slabs are analyzed with two different heights and concrete cover of 40 mm in thickness. Is also varied the strength of concrete fill and rate of shear reinforcement at the link. The results are compared with normative prescriptions and suggestions for other jobs. At the end, we propose the modification of an expression commonly used to evaluate the resistance of stud bolt and alveolar slab so as to adapt it to the situation of cellular concrete slab with hood.

A Comparison Between CLT-wood and Concrete as a Structrural Floor System : An Experiment with Multicritery Analasys

Gustavsson, Anton, Gudjonsson, Julius January 2021 (has links)
Nyckelord: Betong, KL-trä, Plattbärlag, Plattbjälklag, Kassettbjälklag,Multikriterieanalys, Dimensionering, Kostnad, Koldioxidutsläpp / Purpose: Environmental and affordable construction has long been two terms used in theconstruction industry. Concrete has been used and is well proven. Wood and especiallyCLT wood, on the other hand, is a material that has emerged in the last decade. The questionis, when is it best to build with the different materials and what are their respective climatefootprints? The aim of this report is to compare two structural floor systems, one in CLT wood and onein concrete, based on a balanced cost, dimension and environmental perspective and howthey relate between the spans of four, six and eight meters. ▪ What is the percentage cost difference between these structural floor systems? ▪ What is the percentage difference in carbon dioxide emissions during theproduction of these structural floor systems? ▪ What is the percentage dimensional difference between these structural floorsystems? ▪ Which structural floor system is the best choice based on a multi-criteria decisionanalysis? Method: The study consists of several experiments to obtain empirical data for a quotameasurement. This method was used to obtain primary data for the work. To obtain secondary data consisting of standards, calculation models and requirements, adocument study was used. Secondary data were collected via document studies of laws and requirements forconstruction in fire, acoustics and dimensioning. Findings: The study shows the results of a comparison between structural floor systemswith different materials and spans. A multi-criteria decision analysis is used to rank theresults to show the most advantageous alternative. Implications: When using CLT-wood, dimensioning should be taken into account as thedimensions will be relatively large compared to concrete. The cost of the materials differsmarkedly. However, this does not reflect the total cost as production, deliveries, assembly, etcetera are not included. Using a multi-criteria decision analysis in comparisons gives aclear picture of a favorable alternative and how large a difference there is between thealternatives. Limitations: As only a part of the total cost is affected, the result does not reflect a faircost picture and can therefore not be used as a reference point. The results only serve as anaid in the partial calculation of total cost.
