Critical Logistical Factors when Outsourcing to third party stakeholder

Jusupovic, Nirmel January 2017 (has links)
Outsourcing breaks up the supply chain and often increases in number of stakeholders and organizations and therefore puts a higher demand on a well-functioning coordination of the material supply. The logistical task spectrum is characterized by a great degree of variety and dissimilarity which is due to the logistical role itself, functions within both overall economic and business processes, in value-added steps from the processing of raw material to the end user. Research in the field of global sourcing environment has been conducted in prior research, however, the outsourcing environments differs one from another. The purpose of this study is to identify critical logistical factors when transferring to a third party stakeholder. The findings are based on an extensive literature study in the field of logistics and a single case study. An interactive investigation at a large, multinational company provided opportunities to observe and participate in an ongoing global transfer and verify the applicability of the result (matrix concept). The observations were done over a three months’ period and gave the author the opportunity to investigate the logistical setup for the ongoing transfer. The company henceforth Genopower AB, is transferring the assembly and testing to a third party stakeholder located in Indonesia. The motives for the transfer is to increase the company’s market shares in Indonesia and further into Asia. The third party stakeholder, henceforth PT PAK does not have any prior experience in the Gas turbine (Power generation) industry. The study provides a generalized matrix with critical logistical factors which affects the logistical performance measurements, logistical cost and customer service elements. By presenting the findings in terms of factors, the matrix can be applicable on future outsourcing projects and give a clear insight in which of the factors is worth investigating further; prior, during or after the actual transfer as an evaluation tool.

The effects of regulatory changes on insider trading and price movements during corporate takeovers

Liu, Zhu Stuart 05 1900 (has links)
This thesis addresses two important issues necessary to understand whether insider trading should be prohibited: the effects of insider trading on stock prices and the compensation to insiders for providing information and other related services. This task is accomplished by analyzing stock price changes during corporate takeovers, before and after the regulatory changes in the 1980's that were designed to reduce the level of insider trading. In this thesis, we develop an indirect measure of insider trading that shows how observable stock price movements during takeovers allow one to make inferences about changes in insider trading after regulatory changes. Specifically, we show that when inside information is partially revealed to the market, the effects of regulatory changes on insider trading can be identified by examining the price movements of stocks around takeover announcements. If, however, information is not revealed at all or is fully revealed, it is impossible to identify the effects of regulatory changes on insider trading. We also develop a segmented diffusion model to analyze price movements characterized by cumulative abnormal returns during the period surrounding a takeover announcement. An econometric model is developed to estimate the segmented diffusion model. Naturally, this methodology applies to the study of various events in addition to corporate takeovers and regulatory changes. We conduct empirical analysis to test three hypotheses. With regard to Hypothesis I, we find strong evidence that the tightening of insider trading regulations in the 1980's was effective and that inside information was partially revealed to the market. With regard to Hypothesis II, we find evidence that insider trading regulations have more effect on negotiated takeovers than on takeovers initiated by bidding. With regard to Hypothesis III, we find weak evidence that insiders associated with acquiring firms seek fewer but more profitable takeovers after the introduction of tighter regulations. / Business, Sauder School of / Graduate

Fiskální konsolidace v České republice v letech 2002-2012 / Fiscal consolidations in Czech republic in 2002-2012

Zmítko, Milan January 2012 (has links)
The subject of this diploma work is to analyze proposals of fiscal consolidations in the Czech Republic and their following implementation in the years of 2002 to 2012. This work is trying to answer a question whether these proposals of the fiscal consolidaions were elaborated in agreement with research conclusions in the given field and whether they were successful in the sense of reduction of a deficit of the public budgets and public debt. In the first part of this work recent empirical studies with the following recomendations in the terms of realization of a fiscal consolidation are presented. Subsequently, a theoretical background in the form of keynesian and, so called, non-keynesian (expansionary fiscal consolidation hypothesis) effects of consolidation on economy is discussed. In the second part of this work an analysis of the proposals and implementation of the fiscal consolidations in the Czech Republic are presented with an attention to the evolution of the public budgets deficits and the public debt dynamic. The work uses, so called, narrative approach which is based on a study of open public documents from the archives of the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, Parliament of the Czech Republic and the Czech National Bank. In the conclusions of this analysis it is stated that not a single implemented fiscal consolidation was successful in the terms of a reduction of the public budgets deficits and the public debt.
