Like this being, to present research looked for to investigate the perception that the entrepreneurs of the building site of Aracaju/SE have concerning the theme Business Social Responsibility (RSE). besides the perceptions, it was part also of the research, to know the entrepreneur's of the building site social construction and the possible practices of Social Responsibility. The research grew in two different moments. The first looked for the theoretical embasamento, trying to study the economical sociology, understanding the effects provoked by the economy, understanding to you reason them that you/they took to the appearance of the perceptions that you/they permeate the historicity among the market, the nascedouro of the associations as company and his/her dynamics in the society. It was also researched, the concept of social responsibility in national and local extent, as well as, the contextualiza??o of the state of Sergipe, detaching the municipal district of Aracaju, and describing how it happened his/her development starting from what is considered urbanization. In the second moment, the accomplishment of interviews in five companies, allowed to notice the entrepreneurs' perception concerning business social responsibility, as well as, actions of different characteristics in four of the samples. In these actions, they are patronage in cultural events, donations of projects for charity institutions, the concern with the preservation of the environment in the use of work materials ecologically correct, preventive health and employees' training. Concluding the research, I introduce the conclusions which it allowed to arrive me, and I point some suggestions for future researches that enlarge the reflection on this theme / As empresas fazem parte de um importante segmento da sociedade, al?m disso, exerce significativa contribui??o, no que diz respeito ? melhoria da qualidade de vida da popula??o. Assim sendo, a presente pesquisa buscou investigar a trajet?ria de cinco empresas na ?rea de constru??o civil Aracaju/SE e a percep??o que os empres?rios t?m acerca do tema Responsabilidade Social Empresarial (RSE). Al?m das percep??es, fez parte tamb?m da pesquisa, conhecer o percurso da constru??o social do empres?rio, e as poss?veis pr?ticas de Responsabilidade Social por eles desenvolvidas. A pesquisa se desenvolveu em dois momentos distintos. O primeiro buscou o embasamento te?rico, procurando estudar a sociologia econ?mica, compreendendo os efeitos provocados pela economia, entendendo ?s razoes que levaram ao surgimento das percep??es que permeiam a historicidade entre o mercado, o nascedouro das associa??es como empresa e sua din?mica na sociedade. Foi caracterizado o conceito de responsabilidade social em ?mbito nacional e local, bem como, a contextualiza??o do estado de Sergipe, destacando o munic?pio de Aracaju. Descreve como ocorreu o seu desenvolvimento a partir do que se considera urbaniza??o. No segundo momento, a realiza??o das entrevistas, favoreceu a compreens?o da percep??o dos empres?rios no tocante a responsabilidade social empresarial, assim como, a??es de diferentes caracter?sticas em quatro das amostras. A estratégia de pesquisa adotada foi o estudo de caso, sendo realizados três estudos empíricos: dois estudos de caso preliminares realizados em cadeias de suprimentos de aço e argamassa industrializada, e um estudo de caso principal, realizado na cadeia de pisos cerâmicos, no qual também se aplicou outra estratégia de pesquisa: a simulação. Para a simulação, foram elaborados quatro modelos para a avaliação do desempenho da cadeia. Estas modelagens contemplaram indicadores definidos na revisão bibliográfica. Entre os resultados da pesquisa destacam-se (a) avaliação do desempenho da ferramenta Lean (kanban) em diversos pontos da cadeia, (b) criação de modelos sistemáticos e genéricos que possibilitem sua aplicação em outras cadeias de suprimentos e (c) avaliação do potencial de aplicação da ferramenta no contexto das cadeias de suprimentos do setor de construção civil, em função dos indicadores escolhidos. / Abstract: This research has as main objective to evaluate the potencial impact of the application of Lean principles in construction supply chain. The strategy adopted in this research was the case study, being carried through three empirical studies: two preliminary studies in supply chain of pre-cast elements and industrialized mortar, and a main case study in ceramic supply chain. Another research strategy was applied: the mathematical simulation. For this simulation, four models had been elaborated. These models used indicators defined in the literature revision. Some results of this research are: (a) evaluation of the performance of the Lean tool (kanban) in many points of supply chain, (b) creation of systematic and generic models to possible to be applied in other supply chain and (c) evaluation of the potential of application of the tool in the context of the construction supply chain. / Doutorado / Edificações / Doutor em Engenharia Civil

Pesquisa do Estado da Bahia - FAPEB / The water balance is an important aspect on development of a landfill project, and the choice of material for the cover layer will influence the generation of percolated liquids. Considering the composition and characteristics of cover layers, it becomes necessary the conventional material substitution. Therefore, this study compared the construction civil waste (CCW) to the soil from the university campus - UEFS in Feira de Santana/BA as used in evapotranspiration cover layer for landfill, using the water balance models Fenn et al. (1975) and S?o Mateus et al. (2012). The results showed that both materials have the same behavior for the Fenn et al. (1975) method, where the CCW generates less liquid than MSW to the ground. By the method of S?o Mateus et al. (2012), the CCW and the soil allow the passage of water to the MSW in different behaviors, and the soil promoted greater liquid infiltration, about 95.5% higher than the CCW. When the methods were compared, S?o Mateus et al. (2012) presented higher water infiltration to the MSW in the simulation with the soil, in relation to the method of Fenn et al. (1975), and smaller with the CCW, this occurs due to the distinction of the input parameters for the materials, highlighting the influence of the permeability coefficient in the water balance. / O balan?o h?drico ? parte importante no processo de elabora??o de um projeto de aterro sanit?rio, visto que a escolha do material para a camada de cobertura influenciar? na gera??o de l?quidos percolados. Tendo em vista a necessidade da utiliza??o de materiais para a composi??o das diversas camadas dos sistemas de cobertura, torna-se indispens?vel o estudo de materiais alternativos para a substitui??o dos materiais usados originalmente. Para tanto, este trabalho comparou o res?duo da constru??o civil (RCC) com o solo do campus universit?rio da UEFS em Feira de Santana/BA utilizados como camada de cobertura para aterro sanit?rio, utilizando os modelos de balan?o h?drico de Fenn et al. (1975) e S?o Mateus et al. (2012). Os resultados mostraram que, pelo m?todo de Fenn et al. (1975), ambos os materiais possuem comportamento semelhante, sendo que o RCC infiltrou menor quantidade de ?gua para o res?duo s?lido urbano (RSU) do que o solo. Pelo m?todo de S?o Mateus et al. (2012), o RCC e o solo permitem a passagem de ?gua para o RSU em comportamentos distintos, sendo que o solo promoveu maior infiltra??o de l?quidos, cerca de 95,5% maior do que o RCC. Quando comparados os m?todos, S?o Mateus et al. (2012) apresentou maior infiltra??o de ?gua para o RSU na simula??o com o solo, com rela??o ao m?todo de Fenn et al. (1975), e menor com o RCC, isto ocorre devido ? distin??o dos par?metros de entrada para os materiais, destacando-se a influ?ncia do coeficiente de permeabilidade no balan?o h?drico.

Laboratory characterisation of pavement foundation materials

Pavement foundations for major roads in the UK were historically designed on an empirical basis, related to a single design chart, restricting the incorporation of superior performing materials or materials for which the empirical data sets were not available. The adoption of performance based specifications was promoted as they are perceived to 'open up' the use of alternative materials (including 'local' sources of primary materials) or techniques, and allow for the incorporation of superior performance into the overall pavement design. Parallel developments to the performance based design of pavement foundations (allowing for superior performance) and in situ testing required the support of laboratory based performance tests. These laboratory based tests were required to determine material performance parameters (elastic modulus and resistance to permanent deformation) for both unbound and hydraulically bound pavement foundation materials. A review of the available laboratory apparatus indicated that they were either; unrealistic (and hence unable to provide the required material performance parameters), or overly complex and more suited to fundamental research. Therefore, the requirement for developmental research work was identified. The research reported herein details the development, manufacture and initial evaluation of simplified laboratory apparatus (the Springbox for unbound materials and static stiffness test for hydraulically bound mixtures) designed to produce the performance parameters of elastic modulus and relative resistance to permanent deformation for pavement foundation materials. The equipment and test procedure evaluation was undertaken across a range of materials, giving initial guidance on likely in situ performance. The innovative laboratory apparatus and materials guidance (including the potential to use recycled and secondary aggregates) was incorporated into key Highways Agency specification and guidance documents, which in turn influence construction practice outside of motorways and major trunk roads. This research concludes by outlining a number of recommendations for continued development and evaluation, including feeding back data sets from long term in situ performance testing for subsequent refinement of assumptions.
