Ventura, Elvira Cruvinel Ferreira January 2005 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2009-11-18T18:50:23Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 teseElvirafinal.pdf: 4737240 bytes, checksum: 229684ded14affe454604980df24ec0c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2005 / The scope of this theses is to understand the dynamics of the institutionalization of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within the Field of Banking Organizations in Brazil. Using the social analysis model put forward by Boltanski and Chiapello (1999) and reverting to the conceptual basis of the institutional approach and using Bourdieu¿s notion of interest (1996), we arrive at an analytical model that enabled us to assess CSR as part of a movement of displacement of capitalism. The theory we propose here is that with the institutionalization of CSR, actions are justified in terms of the common good, being legitimized by structural confirmations and arrangements and, at the same time, heeding the inherent interests of the Field. The means used for comprehension of the dynamics of the institutionalization of CSR were: (1) the analysis of the construction of the phenomenon of CSR, which enabled us to identify critical factors and events, leaders in Brazil and associated ratification of the institutionalization of this social practice; (2) the description of the Field of Banking Organizations and the identification of the elements of its CSR in History, which are essential steps for understanding the justifications for insertion of the Field in the movement towards CSR; (3) the identification of key players in the institutionalization of the social practice within the Field, as well as the categorization of practical actions considered socially responsible to be found in the organizations researched, analyzing them in terms of justifications and interests; (4) the analysis of the dissemination and sedimentation of structural arrangements linked to CSR in the organizations of the Field, such as specific areas created to deal with CSR, social reports and organizational websites. The field research assessed some 30 organizations and included documentary analysis and interviews. We noted that, from being a marginal and isolated action, over the course of the past decade CSR has become a structured action in banking organizations, while at the same time becoming transformed into a social value, capable of contributing to the legitimacy of the Field. In this respect, research showed that retail banks are those that are inserted in the movement towards CSR, which ratifies the thesis of the phenomenon as displacement of capitalism.

Estratégias de responsabilidade social empresarial (RSE) na agroindústria canavieira paranaense / Corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies in Parana state sugar cane agroindustry

Goes, Thiago Henrique Moreira 20 February 2013 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2017-07-10T18:34:02Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Thiago H Moreira Goes.pdf: 1170133 bytes, checksum: c90f594764aa9195df08582c97772f4c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-02-20 / Fundação Araucária / The objective of this research was analyzing the corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies of sugar cane agroindustry companies. For this analysis it was necessary the identification of which practices are performed by the companies in the sector as well as the elements which motivate such actions. The characteristic of this research is based on an exploratory- descriptive type, once it has started from the questioning about the subject among the several agents that compose the sugar cane agroindustry in Parana state. The theoretical frame used as a foundation to the research consists of theoretical references about corporate strategies, corporate social responsibility, reputational capital and relation between the company and the stakeholders. The analysis was arranged in two major topics. The first one was based on the classification of actions of corporate groups according the stages determined by Ethos Institute. The second one addressed the elements which motivate the CSR actions from the corporate groups of sugar cane agroindustry and other stakeholders within the sector. To comply with the first topic, it has been started from a survey carried out by GEPAG Group - Group in Study and Research of the Agribusiness System (in the period of 2010/2011) in several companies of the sector. The analysis began from the congregation of the companies in their respective corporate groups; the second step was the calculation of a simple arithmetic average in order to classify the levels in which the corporate groups are and finally; theoretical constraints and relative constraints of the sector were provided as explanatory elements to the resulting values. In this topic the actions of CSR in 13 corporate groups were analyzed. High levels of positive answers were found in what regards to CSR actions (especially in the criteria concerning to staff, environment, community, and creation and spread of socially responsible values). Among the constraints regarded as explanatory elements, the importance of the sector to the communities where the companies are based, and the change in the sector s businessmen profile and the competition and commercial matters have been highlighted. To comply with the second topic, corporate groups were consulted in a monthly meeting of ALCOPAR Council and the other stakeholders were interviewed afterwards. Seven corporate groups participated in this stage (they had already participated in the GEPAG Group research and were classified in the first topic), and also other stakeholders such as: ALCOPAR, Parana News, CPA Trading S/A, Ministry of Labor and Environmental Institute of Parana. The answers given by the corporate groups and other agents confirmed the theoretical aspects of which the CSR actions receive a big influence of instrumental aspects as competitive gains, reputation gains, reduction of conflicts between agents and inclusion in international markets.

Entre conservation et developpement / The Jari River region, a laboratory in the Amazon

Greissing, Anna 24 March 2012 (has links)
This thesis studies the components and phases of the socioeconomic and territorial evolution of the Jari river region, located at the north of the Brazilian Amazon, by identifying its different transformation processes and contemporary spatial structures. Longtime left aloof from national population and development dynamics, the region experiences a two-step economic and social evolution in the XX century: A first occupation, at the beginning of the century, that was conditioned by the exploitation of natural resources (rubber, Brazil nut) and led to the establishment of a "latifundium" covering about 2 million ha; and a second, more important occupation at the end of 1960ies by the an American businessman and multimillionaire D.K. Ludwig. The initiation, by the latter, of a huge agro-industrial enterprise, the "Jari project", aiming at a large-scale production of cellulose, lead to the construction of first urban infrastructures and industrial facilities in a region until then covered with intact primary forest. The socio-cultural, economical and political development of the Jari River region has since been intrinsically linked to the evolution of the Jari project. The project itself, which is still active in the region, has itself known significant change since its building up in 1967: strongly criticized during the 1970ies and 1980ies due to the lack of economic viability of its agro-industrial activities, as well as its ecological impact and its waste of human resources, the project of the XXI century, revived by a new management (Orsa), presents itself as an innovative, lucrative and certified firm, henceforth conscious of its social and environmental responsibility and thus of its pioneer role for the socioeconomic development of the Jari River region where it operates. The territorial strategies developed in this context by the company, which are embedded in a discourse of social and environmental corporate responsibility, have indeed permitted the company not only to establish itself on the national and international pulp market, but also to mitigate the long-standing land conflict between the Jari firm, the government and the local populations, who had been partly displaced from their lands by the transformation of huge parts of the rainforest into eucalyptus plantations. The creation of a firm-interne social Foundation in 2000, commissioned to carry into action small socioeconomic projects in the region, has also allowed to accelerate a process of territorial integration, aiming at including the local communities and political actors into the management of the region and its use of its natural resources, until then monopolized by the company. Not yet fully achieved, this process of territorial integration constitutes today a solid basis for a sustainable transformation of the region in the future, from the old "enclave" of the American into an integrated region whose potential is commonly shared by its habitants.

Changing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in China : A Case Study of Svenska Kullagerfabriken (SKF) in China

Tong, Fei January 2011 (has links)
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and multinational companies (MNCs) landed in Chinaalmost at the same time. However, the Chinese market where the governmental role is alwaysinfluential provides a specific setting for the CSR development in China. The purpose of thisthesis is to analyze the governmental role in the CSR engagement of SvenskaKullagerfabriken (SKF) in China based on a literature review, qualitative case study, semistructuredinterview and three mini-cases study. By adopting these methods, it is found thatthe Chinese government is trying to provide a more CSR-friendly policy and stricterlegislation in order to guide the Chinese business towards a sustainable direction. Besides, inrecent years, the Chinese government is also re-orienting the social values that are claimingthe return of the traditional business ethics and promoting the level of CSR in the Chinesesociety. A triangulated model is developed in this thesis to analyze the case company. Theexperience of SKF indicates that the company’s CSR strategy is universal, whereas its CSRengagement has changed along with the Chinese development. It is found that there are fourphases of SKF’s CSR development in China, and each phase is associated with andstimulated by the specific scheme during the Chinese social and economic development.Among the variables in Chinese changing society, the macro-policy is deemed by SKF as thekey factor that has the largest impact on the CSR engagement of the company. After thisresearch, the research gap will be filled in with an empirical case. Yet, the future efforts inempirically investigating more companies are suggested to enrich the research on thecorrelation between the Chinese government, CSR development and MNCs in China.

Vers une analyse de la relation systèmes d'information, développement durable et responsabilité sociale d'entreprise : l'adoption et l'évaluation du Green IT / Towards an analysis of the relation information systems, sustainable development and corporate social responsibility : the adoption and the evaluation of Green IT

Bohas, Amélie 09 December 2013 (has links)
The reflection developed in this thesis is jointly inspired by research in strategic management and information systems (IS). It tends to analyze the relationship between the sustainable development (SD), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the information systems (IS) in addressing a new object in this field: Green IT. As not much research have yet been dedicated to this subject, it simultaneously aims to describe this emerging phenomenon, to understand the reasons for its adoption and its diffusion within organizations and to design instrumentation. The neo-institutional theory and the socio-rational approach to the diffusion of innovation have been mobilized to develop a framework for analysis of the adoption. A reflection on the value of Green IT was led and associated with a review of governance models to create a measuring instrument of Green IT. At the end of an engineering search, an evaluation tool of the eco-responsible maturity of IS, inspired by Balanced Scorecards, was co-built. It was then tested in two distinct organizational contexts providing a first interpretation of the phenomenon. To complete this vision and examine the factors that may affect the adoption of Green IT, a survey was then realized. The results highlight the importance of institutional pressures, expected benefits, perceived obstacles, environmental attitudes and the CSR policy in the decision to adopt.

Corporate Social Responsibility: The Future of Marketing Communications / Corporate Social Responsibility: The Future of Marketing Communications

Zidarova, Margarita January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a contribution tool to the future practices of corporate marketing communications. Another aim was to discover the current practices of CSR within corporate marketing communications with a specific focus on corporate and stakeholder value creation gained through this merging of two disciplines. Finally, the possibility of creating future competitive advantages through the use of CSR in marketing communications was also examined. The author applied a qualitative interview questionnaire as well as a quantitative survey study as primary research methods conducted for the purpose of this thesis. The interview questionnaires focused on the internal stakeholders' point of view on CSR as a marketing tool, while the survey study examined customer and external stakeholders' interest in current practices and value of CSR. The primary research was complemented by a broad literature review on the subjects of corporate marketing communications and corporate social responsibility. The main results revealed by the literature reviews and empirical research showed that corporate social responsibility has gained increasing value amongst business practitioners and external stakeholders. It was found that CSR can be executed most efficiently though public relations, and thus it helps sustain a sound corporate identity, brand, image and reputation, resulting in stakeholder loyalty and corporate value. The key findings of the research proposed that the proper use of CSR within marketing communications, by developed mid- and large-size organizations, could result in future competitive advantages in the market place. The principal concluding remark of the author was to highlight the importance of corporate social responsibility practices in marketing communications, with respect to value creation. This thesis aims to create motivation for further empirical research and development.

Moderní přístupy v řízení organizací veřejné správy se zaměřením na projekty partnerství veřejného a soukromého sektoru / Modern management approaches to Public Sector organizations with a special focus on Public Private Partnership projects

Pavlík, Marek January 2007 (has links)
This thesis is dedicated to modern management approaches to Public Sector organizations with a special focus on projects of Public Private Partnership. This topic is one of the latest issues not only in the Czech Republic but also in numerous European countries. The public sector and its organizations are going through total modernization in these countries. This results in higher quality and more effective Public Services for citizens. I view this problem from 2 perspectives and ask the following questions which reflect the main hypothesis of this thesis: which modern approaches (tools, methods) are the most often used (intended to be used) including their contributions to higher quality and more effective management of organizations of municipalities in the Czech Republic, how is the principle of Public Private Partnership perceived and used in organizations of municipalities in the Czech Republic (Water sector) including barriers which hinder its use. It has been proven that for achieving higher quality and more effective results in the Public Sector, it is not only suitable but even systematically necessary to use modern tools of organization and management. These tools are nowadays commonly applied in the Public Sector. At the same time it has also been proven that Public Private Partnership can significantly support management in the Public Sector through its own implementation of modern tools. Further widening the use of modern tools of management and cooperation between the Public and the Private Sector is sustained through the spreading of knowledge. This is based on sharing ?good praxis?, transparent legislation and appropriate (procedural) methodology for implementation.

Etika realitní činnosti / Ethics in Real Estate Activities

Zůbek, Marián January 2011 (has links)
This master´s thesis is focused on an evaluation of a real estate market in light of „ethics in real estate activities.“ I mention ways of ethical principles and rules implementing especially in estate agencies and professional associations. Furthermore I mention ways of correction pretending in case of an irregularity. It happens quite often in reality that there are events whose solutions are still not regulatedby law so there is no statutory dutyto adhere to them. That´s why ethics codes are not mandatory for estate agencies, because they have no legal dependence in a contractual agreement between a client and a real estate agency or in a legal framework – a law of the Czech republic. I outline basic test cases – problems which can arise in this area, write up main advantages and disadvantages of the existing regulations within the frame of the Czech republic.
