Using a sample of 159 Brazilian corporate bonds, we found evidence that: 1) Covenants and short-term debt are substitute tools to minimize agency conflict, since they presented a negative and significant relation and; 2) The negative relation between short-term debt and growth opportunities might be attenuated in the presence of covenants.

Valada, Gabriela Veeck January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to empirically verify the implications of corporate diversification, through coinsurance effect, in corporate finance and investment through two specific channels: the cost of bank borrowing and the likelihood of covenants with investment restrictions. To achieve this goal, this study estimated two models that control the endogeneity of the diversification decision by using an instrumental variables approach. The results do not show evidences that corporate diversification affects the cost of bank borrowing. In addition, the analysis suggests that corporate diversification reduces the likelihood of covenants with investment restrictions in bank borrowing contracts. Although the evidence is weak, it brings a new insight into how corporate diversification affects corporate results.

'n Prakties-teologiese ondersoek na gesinsdienste (Afrikaans)

Crous, Petrus Arnoldus 30 March 2007 (has links)
There are a variety of sermons which families can attend in different kinds of congregations. The aim of this study is to have a look at family sermons. The target group is families with children in junior catechesis. Although the target group is flexible, one can say that it will be families with children from pre-school to about grade 6. The theological starting point is twofold: the covenant and God’s love. The one without the other is empty. The covenant can be summarized as follow: “I will be your God and you must be My people.” God’s love shines through in the life and work of Jesus Christ. Three congregations were looked at to see how they handle family sermons. The congregations are: Skuilkrans in Pretoria, Pionierspark in Windhoek (Namibia) and Pietersburg-Noord (Polokwane North). Each congregation conveyed their history of family sermons. Questions about the room, time, other sermons of the congregations, preparation, liturgy, attendance, preachers, atmosphere, music and preaching were asked. In Pietersburg-Noord there is a small group of congregation members who help with the preparation of the family sermons. A description of their functioning were given. The conclusion is that family sermons won’t work in all congregations. Each congregation must find their own identity. When starting family sermons in a congregation, one must remember that Rome wasn’t build in one day and that the leaders of the congregation must be kept informed. / Dissertation (MA(Teologie))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Practical Theology / unrestricted

Konkurenční doložky a obdobná ujednání / Non-compete clauses and similar arrangements

Kozlová, Petra January 2021 (has links)
Non-compete clauses and similar arrangements This diploma thesis is concerned with contractual arrangements between the employee and the employer restricting the employee from a certain action after the termination of his employment with the employer. The aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview of non-compete clauses and similar arrangements in labour law, to define their shortcomings and to evaluate the current legal framework and the future applicability of such arrangements in the Czech labour law. The thesis mainly describes the institute of restrictive covenants, consisting of non-compete clauses, non-disclosure agreements and non-solicitation clauses, for which it often uses foreign legislation as sources of inspiration. In order to fulfil these goals, the thesis is divided into three chapters, which are subsequently divided into subchapters. The first chapter is devoted to the history and development of non-compete clauses in the Czech Republic. The subchapters are divided chronologically, with the essential part being devoted to the period from the establishment of the independent Czech Republic to the date of effectiveness of the current Labour Code. The regulation of the non-compete clause reflected in the Labour Code is examined in the second chapter of the diploma...

Basic Principles of Orally Communicating the Gospel as Found in the Doctrine and Covenants

Benson, Reed Amussen 01 January 1975 (has links) (PDF)
In view of the large lay ministry of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are called upon to preach and teach the gospel, this study was undertaken to see if the latter-day volume of scripture, the Doctrine and Covenants, revealed basic principles associated with the oral communication of the gospel. These principles became evident through the frequency that they were mentioned and the emphasis they received. They were (1) righteousness, in particular diligence, humility and meekness, prayer and fasting; (2) knowledge; (3) authority; (4) the right means of communicating; (5) the correct message--with the gospel, testimony, and what's expedient being highlighted; (6) the proper manner of delivery; and (7) the spirit of the Lord. Having the spirit of the Lord was stressed in connection with each of the other principles, and they in turn served as essential preludes to the seventh principle.

Section 76 as Literature in the Doctrine and Covenants

Brugger, William H. 01 January 1993 (has links) (PDF)
This project attempts to demonstrate the value of literary approaches to the Doctrine and Covenants, using a predominantly formalistic approach. To establish a foundation, the first chapter discusses the rich literary content of the Doctrine and Covenants, providing examples of the various literary genres represented in it, such as narrative, saga, parable, and poetry. The second chapter presents portions of Section 76 that contain features characteristic of Hebrew poetry, such as figures of speech and parallelism. The third chapter analyzes ways in which Section 76's poetic dimensions are illuminated by "The Vision," a 312-line poem attributed to Joseph Smith. The poetic version closely parallels the revelation and reveals insights into the poetic quality of Section 76. This study includes a line-by-line comparison of both the scriptural and poetic versions, and notes both textual similarities and differences between them.
