No. of bitstreams: 1 Claudia Cezar COMPLETA.pdf: 2607164 bytes, checksum: 3cdf179e95cc2aeb1abd6c28382641fe (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-04-14 / This dissertation results from an autobiographical reflection, based on the researcher ´s recovery of memories and experiences during the life-work journey while managing the Center for Art and Culture (NAC) of the Methodist University of São Paulo (UMESP ), since its inception in 2005. Understanding the process of creation, formation and inclusion of NAC at UMESP, as well as the exercise of cultural management in this university space were goals of this research, which highlights the dialogue between education and culture, mediated by art, from the insertion of artistic and cultural activities focused on respect for differences and appreciation of human and cultural diversity. What is the role of the cultural action within a university? How these actions can add to the process of educational training? What were the challenges involved the construction and establishment of the Center for Art and Culture at UMESP? These were generating issues for the development of this work, which used an (auto) biographical methodology. In the narrative, the researcher sought to revisit and reframe, with a view to producing knowledge, memories and stories that contributed to the construction of her own identity and that boosted her integration in the management of culture at UMESP, legitimizing and firming the Center for Art and Culture´s action, over its 10 years of existence. In reflecting on this practice, it became clear that working with the subjectivities is the great challenge of managing culture, as well as the construction of collaborative processes, in the perspective of "cause" and not "doing for" is the way to strengthening and deepening the actions.

Cultural facility designates cultural organizations of various types such as theaters, cinemas, libraries, galleries, museums and multipurpose spaces. Essential to activate the territories in which they operate, the cultural facilities are meeting points between the artistic production, the public and the city. However, managing these organizations has many territorial and identity challenges. The purpose of this article is to discuss the role of territorial identity in cultural facilities’ management as a strategy to bring together these organizations and their operating territories, establishing a correlation between managerial dimensions of the organization (culture, image and vision) and territorial aspects in order to establish more synergy between organizational and territorial identity. The research method adopted was action research, conducted with a group of cultural facilities in Salvador, involving also some Colombian cultural organizations. It is a contribution of professional nature elaborated for executives, cultural and social managers. The process represents an opportunity to articulate cultural and territorial development, highlighting the role of cultural organizations in a broader social context

Desempenho de híbridos de tomate de mesa em função de sistemas de condução e da densidade populacional / Performance of tomato hybrids for fresh market in relation to training systems and planting densities

Evandro da Silva Matos 17 September 2010 (has links)
Two experiments were conducted under field conditions with the objectives of (a) determining the effect of training and staking systems of plants on yield potential and yield components of fresh market tomato hybrids of indeterminate growth habit of varietal segments Salad Extended Shelf Life (SLV) and Santa Cruz (SC) (Experiment 1), and (b) evaluating the effect of spacing between plants in the single-stem training system with polypropylene wire on yield and yield components for hybrids of segment SLV (Experiment 2). In experiment 1 it was adopted the randomized block design with the treatments in a 5 x 2 factorial scheme, and four replications, being evaluated three SLV hybrids and two SC hybrids in two systems of plant training. In experiment 2, the experimental design used was also randomized blocks with the treatments in a 2 x 4 factorial scheme, and four replications, being evaluated two SLV hybrids. The experiments were conducted in Itatiba, SP, from July 2007 to January 2008, and from January to July 2009. All plants of each plot were considered and the total number of fruits (NTF), the total production per plot (PTP), the mass of discarded fruits (MFD), the number of commercial fruits (NFC), the commercial production (PCO), the production per plant (PPP), the average mass of fruits (MMF) and the marketable fruit mass of classes AAA, AA and A, for both segments were evaluated, as well as the number of fruits with radial cracking (RAD), concentric cracking (CON), open locules with exposed seed (LAB), blotchy appearance (MAN), puffiness (OCO), and deformed (DEF). It was found that, the training system with one plant per hole, conducted with two stems staked with bamboo, provided increment of NTF, NFC and PPP, for both segments in comparison to the system of a single plant per hole with one stem trained with a propylene wire. The staking system with bamboo, for both segments, provided a smaller MMF and the mass of fruits of classes AAA and A was also lower in relation to the system with a propylene wire. The hybrid Forty showed lower MFD due to lower MAN in the staking system with bamboo. It was not found any difference between the two handling systems for PTP, PCO, LAB and for the mass of the fruits of class AA, for the two market segments. In experiment 2, there was no difference between the hybrids studied in different planting densities for production and for the majority of its components, except for PPP, in which Forty was shown to be superior than Valenty, and for MFD, in which Valenty exceeded Forty due to the greater frequency of LAB. The smaller spacing between plants provided larger NTF, PTP, NFC, PCO, and a mass of the fruits of classes AA and A for both hybrids, as well as a smaller MFD, PPP, MMF, a mass of fruits class AAA, and also a lower number of fruits with RAD and MAN for both hybrids. It was also found that, for both hybrids, under wider spacing between plants the occurrence of fruits with LAB significantly decreased.

Museu e cidade: o impasse do MACs / Museum and the city: the impasse of the museums of contemporary art in Brazil

Renata Vieira da Motta 18 August 2009 (has links)
This survey looks at thirteen of Brazil\'s public museums in the northeast, mid-west, south and southeast regions of the country, which are known as \"museums of contemporary art\" (local acronym MACs). As a typology or institutional model, the MACs have reached an impasse, not only in relation to contemporary art as heritage and permanent collections, but also and particularly in terms of their cultural role in Brazilian society. Since culture is an essential element in the actual process of material reproduction of society, and since museums must actively and physically participate in the outside world, aiming for appropriation of the institutions by citizens, the institutional impasse identified by the survey is discussed from the standpoint of the city-museum relationship. Urban transformations and identity discourses are continually being reworked in cities today as important elements qualifying the analysis and discussion of current contemporary art museums.

Gestão da produção cultural brasileira financiada, prioritariamente, por leis de incentivo fiscal: estudo das práticas e percepções de profissionais da área / Brazilian cultural management financed especially by tax incentive: a study of the practices and perceptions of culture professionals

Mariana de Barros Souza 17 October 2016 (has links)
Cultural policies nowadays are designed and implemented based on different perspectives. In Brazil, government has assumed several phases and trends, but in general tax incentive takes leading role with regard to the financing of culture since the mid-80. In this context, the present study aimed to identify some people responsible for managing public resources in the cultural area and to identify the perception of such professionals about their ability to perform this function. For data collection, cultural managers were interviewed. The intention was to verify knowledge, practices, beliefs and social representations of cultural management. The method used to analyze qualitative data obtained was the Discourse of the collective subject (DCS). So, elements with similar senses were processed into single speeches, written in the first person singular. It was noted that sometimes, managers are struggling to play their role and, generally without specific training in the area, they talk about empiricism and hiring companies for advice and security. When seeking specialization, they found, mostly, discontinued and short courses - usually paid and offered in main cities.

Team effects of bicultural individuals: insights from football team performance

Szymanski, Michal 25 August 2017 (has links)
The recent wave of globalization triggered by the end of the Cold War and stimulated by progressing liberalization of trade and international migration policies has led to a significant surge in numbers of bicultural individuals, i.e. people with more than one ethnic identity (Nguyen & Benet-Martinez, 2007), and thus, a surge in bicultural employees. An emerging stream of research from psychology and organizational studies indicates that bicultural individuals have a particular set of skills and competencies that can contribute to the performance of international teams and, in turn, organizations. However, to date there has not been a large sample empirical study investigating the oft-stated relationship between biculturals and performance. This dissertation seeks to fill this gap in the literature by examining said relationship by relating the composition of national association football teams to results in six consecutive FIFA World Cup and six UEFA European Championship tournaments (i.e. the results of 272 teams in 12 competitions). The results indicate that biculturalism improves team performance when moderated by the cultural diversity of the competitive environment of the team. / Graduate

Det svenska ledarskapet i Förenade Arabemiraten : Svenska chefers upplevelser av ledarskap i Förenade Arabemiraten / The Swedish leadership in the United Arab Emirates : Exploring the Swedish leadership in the United Arab Emirates

Ayoub, Ranin, Hiselius, William January 2021 (has links)
The aim of the study was to investigate how the Swedish managerial leadership applies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and to what extent they need to adapt their leadership due to the context which they are in. Six semi-structured interviews were made, and the results shows that the conditions for Swedish leaders is better in a context higher educational level among the employees and where the employees also express that they value the Swedish leader’s education and professional background. The study also shows that the participants to a high extent need to use an adaptive leadership approach to match the various contexts they work in. The leadership style the participants mostly use is a mixture of what they have learned in their new environment with their roots still in the Swedish approach. The study also shows that that the outcome of leadership can be affected by the different cultures and hierarchies within the different organisations. It is therefore necessary for the Swedish mangers to have a cultural intelligence and characteristics that can meet both the demands of the employees and the employer who often are of different educational and cultural backgrounds. This balance between the historical leadership in the UAE and the new Western leadership is something that the Swedish managers need to bring with them in their everyday work.

Culture’s influence on Emotional Intelligence among leaders in Multinational teams : A Qualitative study with a focus on Mexico and Sweden

Karlsson, Linda, Shepherd, Kayleigh January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis was to analyze culture’s influence on emotional intelligence between Mexican and Swedish leaders among multinational teams. The theoretical chapter has presented relevant theories relating to the field of research. Starting with globalization and internationalization, continuing with leadership and management. Thereafter, emotional intelligence and culture were defined. Followed by crosscultural management and multinational teams. A conceptual framework was illustrated to understand the logic behind the concepts. To gain a deeper understanding a qualitative method was applied. Further the thesis has pursued a deductive research approach. Purposive sampling was done to ensure the quality of the thesis. Furthermore, the empirical chapter presents the cases, followed by the operationalization, to establish a coherent order. In the analysis, the empirical material is linked to the theoretical framework. Lastly, the final chapter includes conclusions, implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research are discussed. The outcome of this study has provided an understanding of the high importance of emotional intelligence amongst international business leaders. Furthermore, the findings in this thesis indicate that there are more similarities than differences regarding emotional intelligence between Mexican and Swedish leaders among multinational teams. Moreover, the thesis material emphasizes that nationality has a minor influence on emotional intelligence. It is rather other cultural aspects that have a greater impact.
