Germán Arciniegas e a Argentina, 1939-1960: mediações culturais / Germán Arciniegas and Argentina: cultural mediations

Carlos David Suarez Morales 02 October 2015 (has links)
This work analyses the intellectual relationships built by Colombian writer and diplomat Germán Arciniegas with Argentinian cultural institutions between 1939 and 1960. It focuses on cultural mediations arranged by him. Although initially his activities were related to diplomatic functions and contemplated the control of information about the Colombian government and the promotion of commercial deals, artistic and literary issues became what concentrated Arciniega´s efforts to stimulate the dialogue and knowledge of the cultural traditions of both countries. Subsequently, Arciniegas continues to promote intellectual integration by articulating his own career and perspective of intellectual success with Argentinian publishers, becoming the Colombian consultant for the editors and transmitting an image of Argentinian history and culture to the Colombian journal El Tiempo´s public. The work explores the political-ideological means of these activities and partnerships by the analysis of Arciniega´s correspondence archive

Van Wyk, Johannes Jogemes 21 July 2011 (has links)
ENGLISH: The ethno-historic background of the South-Sothospeaking farm labourers in the Northern Free State is explained according to the acknowledgement of the totem seniority in the initiation schools. From the frequency in which family names, which can be traced back to old tribes, occur, the historical affiliations of these people are indicated. The socio-cultural relations of farm workers are explained according to different cultural aspects. The information gathered during field research, is compared continuously with the corresponding literature. From the data of this research it is apparant that relations of farm workers are restricted to the lapa (household). Although a process of individualisation is taking place, traditional, socio-cultural, structural relations are still maintained. In the summary of the most important findings of existing socio-cultural relations of farm workers, recommendations in respect of the direction for future planning are made. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2011. / Anthropology and Archaeology / unrestricted

Československo-íránské vztahy. Politické a kulturní vztahy v letech 1953-1979. / The Czechoslovakia-Iranian relationships. Political and cultural relationships between 1953 and 1979.

Nováková, Klára January 2014 (has links)
The thesis discusses Czechoslovak-Iranian relationships during 1953-1979. Several thematically organized chapters deal with policy and diplomatic relations after the fall of Mosaddeq in 1953, the support of Tudeh party, cultural relations and intelligence activities of above mentioned countries. Relationships between them had been cooled after the beginning of the communist era in Czechoslovakia and it got worse after the Mosaddeq overthrow - mostly due to Czechoslovakian support of persecuted Iranian Tudeh party. However, due to Czechoslovakian business opportunities in Iran, the relations from the 1960 improved and led to the state visits in the 1970. Nevertheless, as well as with other countries, nearly all dealings were interrupted after the Islamic revolution in 1979. The thesis is primarily based on archive sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The National Archive, and The Security Forces Archive as well as on a professional literature. This diploma thesis brings new historical evidence in the area of Czechoslovak-Iranian relationships through processing, for the time being, almost unexplored topic of Czechoslovakian diplomacy and relations with Iran.
