Thermisch härtende Polymerverbundmaterialien als Basis für neue Befestigungssysteme / Thermally curable polymeric composit material as a basis for new chemical fixing systems

Mit der Entwicklung und Einführung ökologischer Bauweise im Neubau sowie neuen Baustoffsystemen in Sandwichbauweise wird es zunehmend erforderlich, neue effektive Befestigungsvarianten zu entwickeln, die eine dauerhafte Fixierung auch unter sicherheitstechnischen Bestimmungen sowie aus Garantie- bzw. haftungsrechtlichen Gründen ermöglichen. Die aus der Praxis bisher bekannten chemischen Befestigungssysteme (Zweikomponentenverbundmörtel, Verbundankerpatronen) weisen hinsichtlich der Applikation unter bautechnischen Bedingungen noch einige Nachteile auf. Dazu gehören vor allem längere Aushärtungszeiten zur Realisierung der abschließenden Verbundfestigkeit, Inhomogenitäten im Verbund, der Einsatz toxischer Verbindungen und eine Limitierung der Applikationsmöglichkeiten in horizontalen und Überkopf-Einsatzbereichen sowie Hohlkammersystemen. Alle zuvor genannten Punkte haben bis jetzt die Nutzung solcher Verbundwerkstoffe als universale Anwendungsmöglichkeit verhindert. Ein neues chemisches Befestigungssystem, welches aus Novolak gehärteten mit Hexamethylentetramin (Hexa) und anorganischen Füllstoff besteht, wurde für Applikationen in Beton entwickelt. Das Bindemittel härtet bei der Temperaturzuführung aus. Die unkatalysierte Befestigungsmasse zeigt bei einer Temperatur zwischen 150-300 °C eine hohe Reaktivität. Die Vorteile dieses Systems sind die unbegrenzte Lagerfähigkeit der vorgemischten härtbaren Masse sowie die Gewährleistung einer homogenen Netzwerkstruktur im gesamten Verbund und sie ist frei von giftigen und flüchtigen Substanzen. Auf den Einsatz toxischer Substanzen wurde verzichtet. In dieser Arbeit wurde die Gesamtkinetik der Reaktion während des Aushärtungsprozesses dieser Polymerkomposite untersucht. Die DSC- (nicht-isothermen, isothermen) und MDSC-Untersuchungen haben sich als ein sicheres Verfahren zur Qualitätskontrolle des Aushärtezustands der Befestigungssysteme herausgestellt. Parallel zur nicht-isothermischen und isothermischen DSC wurden Leitfähigkeitsmessungen durchgeführt, um den Endpunkt der Aushärtungsreaktion zu bestimmen. / The development and introduction of ecological construction methods and the use of sandwich materials make it necessary to develop new fixing systems and technologies. Dealing with the application in concrete and other substrates commercial chemical fixing systems show some disadvantages up to date. Especially the rather long curing time in order to realize the final bond strength, inhomogenities in the composite, the partial use of toxic substances and application limits of such systems in horizontal direction as well as hollow section materials has so far prevented the use of such composites for all-purpose applications. A new chemical fixing system, which consists of hexamethylene tetramine (hexa) cured novolac and inorganic filler, was developed for application in concrete. It is applied by a thermo-curing procedure. The uncatalyzed curable mixture has a high reactivity at temperature between 150-300 °C. Compared with commercial chemical fixing systems, the premixed curable mass has many benefits. First it has a unique storage stability and second, it is free of toxic and volatile substances. Another important aspect is, it is self-foaming. In this study was investigated the overall kinetics of the reaction during the curing process of these polymer composites. An appropriate method for this experiment proved to be the DSC in isothermal and non-isothermal mode and MDSC. This turned out to be a safe quality control technique for these systems. Parallel to the non-isothermal and isothermal DSC conductivity measurements have been performed to determine the end point of the curing reaction.

Werkstoffe auf Basis duroplastischer Harze besitzen exzellente Gebrauchseigenschaften für viele Bereiche des industriellen Einsatzes. Vor allem durch die Spritzgießverarbeitung rieselfähiger duroplastischer Formmassen entsteht ein hohes Substitutionspotential gegenüber Bauteilen aus Metallen oder Hochleistungsthermoplasten. Jedoch führen bestehende Erkenntnisdefizite im Prozessverständnis zu Ressentiments hinsichtlich des Einsatzes duroplastischer Werkstoffe. Ziel der Untersuchungen dieser Arbeit war die Ermittlung und Analyse der prozessinduzierten Werkstoffstruktur von spritzgegossenen technischen Phenolharzformteilen. Dabei wurden zum einen das Füllen der Werkzeugkavität und die sich ausbildende Faserorientierung untersucht und zum anderen die sich während des Temperns verändernde chemische Struktur. Anhand von Platten- sowie Zugprüfkörpern wurden sowohl beim Spritzgießen als auch beim Tempern Parametervariationen durchgeführt und die jeweils resultierende Werkstoffstruktur sowie deren Einfluss auf die Formteileigenschaften analysiert. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Strömungsverhältnisse während der Werkzeugfüllung stark von den Prozessparametern und der Werkstoffzusammensetzung abhängig sind. Dadurch wird auch die Faserorientierung beeinflusst, sodass im Formteil lokal und richtungsabhängig stark unterschiedliche Eigenschaften entstehen können. Darüber hinaus konnte anhand einer alternativen Tempermethode geklärt werden, warum es beim Tempern zu einem Abfall der mechanischen Eigenschaften kommt und eine Möglichkeit zur Vermeidung gegeben werden. / Because of their excellent properties, thermosets can be applied in a bright range of industrial applications. Especially thermoset molding compounds can be processed highly effective by injection molding, which enables them to substitute metals or high performance thermoplastics. But there is a deficit in process understanding, which limits the industrial application. The objective of this work is the investigation and analysis of the process induced material structure of injection molded technical phenolic components. Therefor the filling of the cavity with the resulting fiber orientation and the chemical processes during post-curing were examined. A parameter variation with injection molded plate and tensile specimens were done and the resulting material structure and the effect on the component properties were analyzed. The results show a big influence of the process parameter and the material on the flow condition during the filling of the cavity. Thereby also the fiber orientation is affected. This leads to process-depending local and direction-depending properties. In addition, this work shows an alternative method for post-curing to avoid the decrease of mechanical properties.

Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der kontinuumsmechanischen Formulierung des Aushärteverhaltens polymerer Werkstoffe sowie der Implementierung und Simulation von Aushärtestoffgesetzen im Rahmen der Finite-Elemente-Methode. Auf Basis eines allgemeinen Modellierungsrahmens wird ein konkretisiertes Stoffgesetz für die Nachbildung von Aushärteprozessen eines acrylischen Knochenzements entwickelt. Darüber hinaus werden verschiedene Finite-Elemente-Simulationen zum klinischen Verfahren der Vertebroplastie präsentiert. / This work deals with the continuum mechanical formulation of curing phenomena in polymers as well as the implementation and simulation of curing models within the finite element method. Based on a general modelling framework, a specified material model for the simulation of curing processes in an acrylic bone cement is developed. Moreover, different finite element simulations regarding the clinical procedure of vertebroplasty are presented.

Spritzgießbare Duroplaste zeichnen sich durch hohe thermo-mechanische Beständigkeit, geringe Schwindung und niedrige Materialkosten aus. Damit können die Anforderungen an spritzgegossene Präzisionsbauteile für den Automobilbau erreicht werden. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit werden unterschiedliche Novolak-Phenolformmassen hinsichtlich ihres hygroskopischen Verhaltens und dessen Auswirkung auf die Spritzgießverarbeitung und die Bauteilqualität untersucht. Das Absorptionsverhalten kann mithilfe der Fick’schen Diffusionsgesetzte näherungsweise beschrieben werden. Auf Basis von mechanischen Untersuchungen sowie der Beurteilung der Maßhaltigkeit eines Präzisionsdemonstrators hinsichtlich Schwindung und Verzug wird zudem der Einfluss der Prozessparameter beim Spritzgießen bestimmt. Die vorgestellten Untersuchungen zeigen die Grenzen der Verarbeitung und der realisierbaren Bauteilqualität auf, die auf die großserientaugliche Verarbeitung von duroplastischen Bauteilen übertragen werden können. / Injection moldable thermosetting materials show excellent material properties, e.g. high thermo-mechanical resistance and reduced shrinkage in combination with low material cost. Thus, technical requirements for high performance parts for automotive applications can be achieved. In the scope of this work different phenolic novolac compounds were investigated regarding their hygroscopic behavior with its influence for injection molding and product quality. The absorption can be approximately described by Fick’s-Diffusion-Model. The interrelationship of injection molding parameters and the thermo-mechanical behavior is examined on the basis of mechanical testing and the assessment of the dimensional accuracy for a thermoset high precision part. The presented investigations point to the limit of processing and realizable part quality which can be transferred for high performance parts molded in mass production.

The standard ASTM C672 de-icer salt scaling resistance test has been found to be overly aggressive to concretes containing slag cement. It was compared to the newly proposed ASTM WK9367 method, based on the Quebec BNQ test, as well as several modifications, including use of an accelerated curing regime developed in Virginia (VADOT). Sixteen concrete mixtures were studied using high-alkali cement, low-alkali cement, grade 100 slag and grade 120 slag with slag contents of 0%, 20%, 35% and 50%. Vinsol resin air-entraining admixture was compared to Micro Air®. Reducing the water cement ratio from 0.42 to 0.38 had the biggest impact on improving scaling resistance of slag concretes. In general, increased slag contents increased scaling regardless of the test method used. The Micro Air® admixture provided a lower air void actor and higher hardened air content compared to Vinsol resin.

Studies in this area allow you to develop pigments with more advanced properties and qualities to be used in the industrial context. Studies on synthesis and characterization of cobalt aluminate has been widely researched, cobalt aluminate behavior at different temperatures of calcinations, highlighting especially the temperatures of 700, 800 and 900? C that served as a basis in the development of this study, using the method of polymerization of complex (CPM), economic, and this method applied in ceramic pigment synthesis. The procedure was developed from a fractional factorial design 2 (5-2) in order to optimize the process of realization of the cobalt aluminate (CoAl2O4), having as response surfaces the batch analysis data of Uv-vis spectroscopy conducted from the statistic software 7.0, for this were chosen five factors as input variables: citric acid (stoichiometric manner), puff or pyrolysis time (h), temperature (? C), and calcinations (? C/min), at levels determined for this study. By applying statistics in the process of obtaining the CoAl2O4 is possible the study of these factors and which may have greater influence in getting the synthesis. The pigments characterized TG/DSC analyses, and x-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM/EDS) in order to establish the structural and morphological aspects of pigment CoAl2O4, among the factors studied it were found to statically with increasing calcinations temperature 700?< 800 <900 ?C, the bands of Uv-vis decrease with increasing intensity of absorbance and that with increasing time of puff or pyrolysis (h) there is an increase in bands of Uv-vis proportionally, the generated model set for the conditions proposed in this study because the coefficient of determination can explain about 99.9% of the variance (R?), response surfaces generated were satisfactory, so it s possible applicability in the ceramics industry of pigments / Na ind?stria cer?mica utilizam-se cada vez mais pigmentos de natureza predominantemente inorg?nica. Os estudos nessa ?rea permitem desenvolver pigmentos com qualidades e propriedades mais avan?adas para serem empregados em ?mbito industrial. Estudos de s?ntese e caracteriza??o do aluminato de cobalto t?m sido amplamente pesquisados, o comportamento do aluminato de cobalto em diferentes temperaturas de calcina??es, destacando principalmente as temperaturas de 700, 800 e 900?C utilizando o m?todo de polimeriza??o de complexos (MPC), m?todo este, econ?mico e aplicado em s?ntese de pigmentos cer?micos. Analysis and optimization of mixed-mode conical adhesively bonded joints under thermo-mechanical loadings / Analyse et optimisation des assemblages coniques collés mixtes sous chargements thermo-mécaniques

Dans I'industrie spatiale, I'optimisation des structures composites du point de vue cycles de fabrication, gain de masse et amélioration des performances passe aujourd'hui par I'introduction de jonctions collées en remplacement/complément de liaisons boulonnées ou rivetées. Les lanceurs sont des structures complexes qui nécessitent de prendre en compte les contraintes liées à la fabrication de structures de grandes tailles, I'influence des conditions de transport et de stockage, ainsi que les différents spectres de chargements thermo-mécaniques rencontrés au cours de la phase de lancement. Le but de ce travail a été de développer un outil prédictif du comportement mécanique de I'adhésif Hysol EA-9321, matériau utilisé dans cette étude, à tout instant du cycle de vie de la structure sur lequel il est utilisé, la structure SYLDA. La caractérisation et la modélisation d'un couplage thermo-cinétique d'un tel adhésif ont tout d'abord été réalisées en vue de déterminer la distribution du taux de polymérisation et de la température dans un assemblage collé quel que soit le chargement thermique appliqué. Le comportement mécanique de l'adhésif a ensuite été étudié expérimentalement via I'essai Arcan Evolution, ce qui a constitué une base de données expérimentales à divers taux de polymérisation adaptée à I'identification du modèle de comportement. Plusieurs modèles élasto-plastique et élasto-visco-plastique basés sur celui de Mahnken-Schlimmer ont été implantés dans un code de calcul éléments finis afin de prédire le comportement 3D de l'adhésif Hysol EA-9321. Une procédure globale d'identification, basée sur un couplage entre calculs éléments finis et une procédure d'optimisation, a permis d'identifier les différents paramètres des lois de comportement. Une extension de ces modèles à la visco-élasticité a été numériquement proposée. Enfin, une comparaison numérique entre une liaison conique et une liaison semblable à celle trouvée sur la structure spatiale étudiée a permis de proposer un essai représentatif du comportement de I'adhésif sur un tel assemblage. Cet essai servira, dans une étude complémentaire, à valider les modèles de comportement développés. / In the aerospace industry, composite structures are nowadays optimized with adhesively bonded joints supplemented by/or completed with mechanical fasteners such as bolts, rivets or welds. The structural design of launch vehicles is complex and must take into account lot of constraints related to large-scale structures, influence by environment conditions during storage, transport stages and thermo-mechanical stresses applied during launcher's flight. The purpose of this work was to provide a numerical tool for predicting the mechanical behaviour of the Adhesive Hysol EA-9321 in a spatial bonded assembly such as the SYLDA structure during its life course. First of all, a thermo-kinetic coupling was experimentally and numerically investigated to describe the couple (curing degree-temperature) in a bonded assembly regardless of the thermal load applied. Then, an experimental database was made by studying the mechanical behaviour of the adhesive under proportional loadings, using the Arcan Evolution experimental device. Cure-dependent elastoplastic and elasto-visco-plastic model based on Mahnken-Schlimmer constitutive laws were proposed in order to describe the 3D mechanical behaviour of the adhesive Hysol EA-9321. A global identification strategy allowed identifying material parameters by coupling finite element computations and optimization procedure. An extension of those models to the visco-elasticity was evenly provided. At last, a conical bonded joint and a bonded assembly in the SYLDA structure were numerically compared to propose a test representative of the adhesive behaviour in the SYLDA. The latter will aim at validating the constitutive laws established.

To develop a project sizing concrete pavement is necessary to know the mechanical properties and the different treatment processes of material to be used. This study aimed to analyze the mechanical properties such as flexural strenght, compressive strength, indirect tensile strength and static modulus of concrete paving. The three types of concrete were studied: An actual reference (typically used in paving, one with the addition of polypropylene fibers (common practice for floors), and a high strength concrete used to rapidly release the traffic. Different methods of curing were applied: chemical cure with and without the use of wet burlap bags (widely applied in pavements) and curing in a moist chamber (as recommended by standard). This evaluation of the mechanical properties for the concrete studied in different curing methods applied, showed that the microstructure of concrete is significantly interfering with the results, especially in cured concrete to track conditions (chemical cure without and with the placement of burlap sacks). Where factors such as the absorption and reabsorption of water evaporation to cement hydration, cracking the interface folder / aggregate, ambient conditions related to temperature and humidity, are interfering with the tensile strength in bending, compressive strength, indirect tensile strength and particularly in the static modulus and still, from the results obtained in this study and those reported by other authors who studied a high-strength concrete, it is possible to verify that there are particularities still unknown about the behavior of high strength concrete. / Para o desenvolvimento de um projeto de dimensionamento de pavimentos de concreto é necessário conhecer as propriedades mecânicas e os diferentes processos de tratamento do material a ser utilizado. Este trabalho teve por objetivo analisar as propriedades mecânicas, tais como, resistência à tração na flexão, resistência à compressão axial, resistência à tração por compressão diametral e módulo de elasticidade estático em concretos para pavimentação. Foram estudados os três tipos de concretos: um concreto referência, (tipicamente empregado em pavimentação, outro com a adição de fibras de polipropileno (prática comum em pavimentos) e um concreto de alta resistência, utilizado para rápida liberação ao tráfego. Diferentes métodos de cura foram aplicados: cura química com e sem a utilização de sacos de aniagem úmidos (largamente aplicados em pavimentos) e cura em câmara úmida (conforme preconizado por norma). A avalição das propriedades mecânicas para os concretos estudados, nos diferentes métodos de cura aplicados, mostrou que a microestrutura dos concretos, está interferindo de forma significativa nos resultados obtidos, principalmente nos concretos curados para condições de pista (cura química sem e com a colocação de sacos de aniagem), onde fatores como a absorção e reabsorção da água de evaporação para hidratação do cimento, a fissuração da interface pasta/agregado, as condições ambientes relacionadas à temperatura e umidade, estejam interferindo na resistência à tração na flexão, resistência à compressão axial, resistência à tração por compressão diametral e principalmente no módulo de elasticidade estático e ainda, a partir dos resultados obtidos na presente pesquisa e daqueles apresentados por outros autores que estudaram um concreto de alta resistência, é possível verificar que existem particularidades ainda desconhecidas sobre o comportamento do concreto de alta resistência.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho, dividido em dois estudos, foi avaliar: (1) a influência dos tipos de ponteiras (fibra óptica e polímero) utilizadas em um aparelho fotoativador à base de LED (Ultrablue IS - DMC) sobre o grau de conversão e dureza de uma resina composta microhíbrida (FiltekTM Z250) e uma nanoparticulada (FiltekTM Supreme XT); e (2) a influência dos tipos de ponteiras (fibra óptica e polímero) utilizadas em um aparelho fotoativador à base de LED (Ultrablue IS - DMC) sobre a resistência à compressão de uma resina composta microhíbrida (FiltekTM Z250) e uma nanoparticulada (FiltekTM Supreme XT). No primeiro estudo, para os testes de grau de conversão (GC) e dureza, cinco corpos-de-prova com 4 mm de diâmetro e 2 mm de espessura (ISO 4049), foram confeccionados para cada grupo avaliado. O grau de conversão foi analisado pelo Espectrofotômetro Nexus - 470 FT-IR. Para o teste de dureza Vickers, os corpos-de-prova foram levados ao Durômetro Micromet 2100 (Buehler, EUA) onde foi utilizada uma carga de 50 gramas força (gf) e tempo de 30 segundos. Para cada corpo-de-prova oito medidas foram realizadas nas superfícies de topo e base. Os dados obtidos para o GC e dureza foram analisados estatisticamente pelo teste de Análise de Variância (ANOVA) e Tukey. No segundo estudo, para o teste de resistência à compressão foram confeccionados oito corpos-de-prova com 8 mm de altura e 4 mm de diâmetro. O teste foi realizado na máquina de ensaio universal EMIC com célula de carga de 5 kN à velocidade de 0,5 mm/min. Os dados obtidos foram analisados estatisticamente pelo teste ANOVA e o teste Tamhane. Os resultados demonstraram que o GC e dureza foram influenciados pelas ponteiras, sendo a dureza também influenciada pelo tipo de resina composta utilizada. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The aim of this work, divided into two studies, was evaluate: (1) the influence of types of light guide tips (fiber optic and polymer) used in a photo-activation based on LED (Ultrablue IS - DMC) on the degree of conversion and hardness one microhybrid FiltekTM Z250 and one nanofilled FiltekTM Supreme XT composite resins; and (2) the influence of types of light guide tips (fiber optic and polymer) used in a photo-activation based on LED (Ultrablue IS - DMC) on the compressive strength of one microhybrid FiltekTM Z250 and one nanofilled FiltekTM Supreme XT composite resins. In the first study, to test the degree of conversion (GC) and hardness, five samples 4 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness (ISO 4049) were made for each group evaluated. The degree of conversion was evaluated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).
