Change And Version Management Of Transport Network Data Between Different Database Models : A Case Study On The Swedish National Road Database / Förändrings Och Versionshantering Av Transport Nätverksmodeller : En Studie Av Den Nationella VägdatabasenJonsson, Josefine January 2019 (has links)
The Swedish Road Administration wants to compile all the national road database data from The Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority using a Geographical Information System compiler in order to increase the efficiency of data flow between their respective databases. The objective of this master’s thesis has been to build a software solution containing changed private road data input from The Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority and processing it into the OpenTNF standard format. This would enable automatic processing and of private road data to the national road database at the Swedish Road Administration. The work is divided into four parts; 1. Researching standards for databases and version control. 2. Plan the methodology using different resources. 3. Development of a software solution. 4. Analysis. The chosen software is FME by Safe Software. A number of shortcomings such as lack of information on the practical input for the future ANDA system were discovered, therefor some assumptions and simplifications had to be made. Using the assumptions and examples, a functioning solution was created according to the OpenTNF and INSPIRE standards. The examples to fills that gap in knowledge and provide a greater understanding of the usage of the INSPIRE and OpenTNF standards for transport networks. An analysis and a discussion about the existing solution, bottlenecks, faults with the existing database and version management between the databases related to found research is presented. Workflows on different examples for the software solution can be seen in the results. The national road database suffers from low implementation rate and creates issues for making new applications and the ability to adapt to ever-changing nature of planning. Creating a software for automatic update on network data is crucial for the Swedish Road Administration for implementing technologies that are dependent on frequent updates, such as self-driving vehicles.

Optikos įmonės kompiuterizuotos IS sukūrimas ir tyrimas / Development and Research of the Computerized Information System for an Optical EnterprisePaičienė, Kristina 20 September 2004 (has links)
Many small enterprises in Lithuania don’t use information systems in their accounting. This is because almost all of already developed accounting software is quite complex, expensive and has many additional features, witch aren’t useful for a small enterprises. This is why it has been decided to develop own specific software for a goods accounting. User interface and data structure should be adapted to the specific functions of the small optical enterprise.
The purposes of the developed information system are to increase work and accounting quality, to decrease time needed for accounting, to avoid saving redundant information, to automate and simplify the process of creating analytical reports, to avoid mistakes in accounting and make accounting more efficient.
In the process of developing this information system there was analyzed functional and nonfunctional, manage mental and common requirement issues. The models of dataflow, data structure, and applications were used in the requirement specification. Architecture of components and software structure is also provided in this project.
The realization of this project was accomplished by means of Microsoft Access 2000. There was created database, graphical user interface, and integrated Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications was used to perform programming tasks. Abilities of this software are fully sufficient for these tasks. Selected design techniques and tools had proved themselves in solving software for small... [to full text]

Structural And Event Based Multimodal Video Data ModelingOztarak, Hakan 01 December 2005 (has links) (PDF)
Investments on multimedia technology enable us to store many more reflections of the real world in digital world as videos. By recording videos about real world entities, we carry a lot of information to the digital world directly. In order to store and efficiently query this information, a video database system (VDBS) is necessary. In this thesis work, we propose a structural, event based and multimodal (SEBM) video data model for VDBSs. SEBM video data model supports three different modalities that are visual, auditory and textual modalities and we propose that we can dissolve these three modalities with a single SEBM video data model. This proposal is supported by the interpretation of the video data by human. Hence we can answer the content based, spatio-temporal and fuzzy queries of the user more easily, since we store the video data as the way that s/he interprets the real world data. We follow divide and conquer technique when answering very complicated queries. We have implemented the SEBM video data model in a Java based system that uses XML for representing the SEBM data model and Berkeley XML DBMS for storing the data based on the SEBM prototype system.

The evolution of computational tools, along with information technology (IT) and the web environment allow for collaborative projects, with a greater integration of procedures for communication, coordination and cooperation of the multidisciplinary team. The case study was conducted for the building design product, was developed with a questionnaire in the design offices in Porto Alegre, and pointed to a situation different from the effective use of these tools. The challenge of the work is to establish the requirements of the design team, developing a management system of Knowledge, using the metadata structure designing a search engine information. / NoSQL is an emergent database management systems technology (DBMS), having flexible models focused on performance and scalability, proposed for manipulating massive amounts of data. NoSQL is not intending for replacing the relational database management systems approaches, but to overcome constraints related to massive data manipulation. Such a technology already is applied in well-known systems around the world, such as e-commerce and middleware services. The importance of such technology has motivated lots of works, mainly relating to performance. Few works can be enumerated regarding characterization of energy consumption on NoSQL DataBase Management Systems, despite its importance. In fact the energy consumption is a feature that cannot be neglected due its impact on financial cost and environmental questions. In order to deal with such an issue, this work evaluates not only performance but the energy consumption involved on NoSQL DataBase Management Systems, specifically for Cassandra (Column), MongoDB (Document Oriented) and Redis (Key-Value). The methodology is based on Design of Experiments, in such a way the workloads are generated by Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB) producing readings, writings and updatings by cycles of 1.000, 10.000 and 100.000. As result, it is evaluated twenty seven treatments. For measuring energy consumption is applied a specific framework named Emeter. The Emeter captures metrics such as execution time and energy consumption related to treatments under analyze. In addition to the individual evaluation, the performance and energy consumption are analyzed among relevant scenarios, as well as the trends due to increases in the workload. The results demonstrate that energy consumption can differs for each DBMS according to command and workload. Additionally, the results make it possible to infer that despite the well-known positive correlation between performance and energy consumption, the fastest DBMS is not necessarily the best on saving energy.
