Unit values were composed of operating and maintenance costs of the surveyed systems, in terms of "R$ / m3 treated". In addition to unit costs, criteria that can be taken into account to support decision making for a specific community were researched and applied on a case study for the city of Restinga-SP. Three decision making support systems were used, MAUT, CP and CGT, with 20 alternatives, 4 of them considering the adaptation of the existing system, and the undertaking of 94 questionnaires for the valuation of the criteria by actors involved in the decision making process. The results indicated that the unit cost of implementation is reduced as the system capacity is enhanced. In regard to the operating costs it was possible to observe that the electricity and the removal and disposal of sludge were quite significant. The multicriteria methods presented similar results only in the opinion of the municipal representatives, in the other cases a difference was noted between the 1st and 2nd order of preference. The alternatives of best compromise between personal opinions corresponded to the conversion of the existing anaerobic pond into an aerated facultative and third facultative pond using an area next to the existing WWTP, implementation of facultative pond followed by maturation pond, and aerated pond (complete mix aerated) with decantation pond / Doutorado / Saneamento e Ambiente / Doutor em Engenharia Civil

Liu, Yongwen 17 June 2016 (has links)
With the development of the cloud computing technique, users enjoy various benefits that high technology services bring. However, there are more and more cloud service programs emerging. So it is important for users to choose the right cloud service. For cloud service providers, it is also important to improve the cloud services they provide, in order to get more customers and expand the scale of their cloud services.Rough set theory is a good data processing tool to deal with uncertain information. It can mine the hidden knowledge or rules on data sets. The main purpose of this thesis is to apply rough set theory to help cloud users make decision about cloud services. In this work, firstly, a framework using the rough set theory in cloud service selection is proposed, and we give an example using rough set in cloud services selection to illustrate and analyze the feasibility of our approach. Secondly, the proposed cloud services selection approach has been used to evaluate parameters importance based on the users’ preferences. Finally, we perform experiments on large scale dataset to verity the feasibility of our proposal. The performance results can help cloud service users to make the right decision and help cloud service providers to target the improvement about their cloud services

Apprentissage automatique pour simplifier l’utilisation de banques d’images cardiaques / Machine Learning for Simplifying the Use of Cardiac Image Databases

Margeta, Ján 14 December 2015 (has links)
The recent growth of data in cardiac databases has been phenomenal. Cleveruse of these databases could help find supporting evidence for better diagnosis and treatment planning. In addition to the challenges inherent to the large quantity of data, the databases are difficult to use in their current state. Data coming from multiple sources are often unstructured, the image content is variable and the metadata are not standardised. The objective of this thesis is therefore to simplify the use of large databases for cardiology specialists withautomated image processing, analysis and interpretation tools. The proposed tools are largely based on supervised machine learning techniques, i.e. algorithms which can learn from large quantities of cardiac images with groundtruth annotations and which automatically find the best representations. First, the inconsistent metadata are cleaned, interpretation and visualisation of images is improved by automatically recognising commonly used cardiac magnetic resonance imaging views from image content. The method is based on decision forests and convolutional neural networks trained on a large image dataset. Second, the thesis explores ways to use machine learning for extraction of relevant clinical measures (e.g. volumes and masses) from3D and 3D+t cardiac images. New spatio-temporal image features are designed andclassification forests are trained to learn how to automatically segment the main cardiac structures (left ventricle and left atrium) from voxel-wise label maps. Third, a web interface is designed to collect pairwise image comparisons and to learn how to describe the hearts with semantic attributes (e.g. dilation, kineticity). In the last part of the thesis, a forest-based machinelearning technique is used to map cardiac images to establish distances and neighborhoods between images. One application is retrieval of the most similar images.

End-User Development of Web-based Decision Support Systems

Tschudnowsky, Alexey 29 June 2017 (has links) (PDF)
Recent innovations in the information technology and computing devices magnified the volume of available information. Today’s decision makers face the challenge of analyzing ever more data in shorter timeframes. Demand for technology that can efficiently assist systematic data analysis is constantly growing. Development of dedicated information systems is, however, difficult both from organizational and technological point of view. First, traditional software production is a complex and time-consuming process that can not be performed under time-pressure. Second, changing business conditions and evolving stakeholder needs require solutions that can be efficiently tailored over time. Finally, costs of custom software development are high, so that not all use cases and scenarios can be covered sufficiently. This thesis proposes a holistic approach to address the challenges above and to enable efficient development of decision support software. The main idea is to empower end users, i.e., decision makers, in constructing their own case-specific solutions. The proposed approach called Web-Composition for End-User Development consists of a systematic process for development and evolution of decision support systems, assistance mechanisms to address lack of programming skills by decision makers and evolution facilities to enable cost- and time-efficient extensibility of user-produced solutions. The thesis describes implementation of the devised principles and ideas in the context of several open-source projects and application scenarios. Applicability and usability of the concepts are demonstrated in user studies with respective target groups. Based on the outcome analysis the thesis concludes that end users can and should actively participate in construction of decision support software.

A framework for the explicit use of specific systems thinking methodologies in data-driven decision support system development

Goede, Roelien 13 May 2005 (has links)
Data-driven decision support systems, such as data warehouses, are extremely costly to develop. Forty one per cent of data warehouse development practitioners have experienced project failures. These projects were either completed after exceeding budget and time limits, or not at all. Some influential data warehousing authors advocate user involvement as a solution, while others focus on technical factors to improve data warehouse success. This study proposes a framework for data warehousing success based on systems thinking methodology. Systems thinking implies a holistic approach to problem solving. A system is a set of interrelated elements. A systems approach represents a broad view, taking all aspects into account and concentrating on interactions between different parts of the problem. This study investigates the practices of data warehousing professionals from a systems thinking point of view, before proposing a framework for the explicit use of specific systems thinking methodologies in data warehouse development. Interpretive case study research is used to investigate practices of data warehousing professionals in three different organisations. Pattern matching is used to analyse collected data. This is done by mapping practices to different systems thinking perspectives. However, the theory component of the thesis is not a description of current data warehousing practices from a systems thinking point of view, as in typical interpretive research. The theory component relates more to critical research in that it is meant to change data warehousing practices towards specific systems thinking methodologies. The proposed framework incorporates three sources of information. These are a literature study on systems thinking philosophy, methodology and practice; a literature study on data warehousing and data warehousing success factors; and the results of case studies on current practices of data warehousing professionals analysed from a systems thinking perspective. The framework gives a methodological foundation for a holistic approach to data warehousing with maximum user involvement. It views a data warehouse as a system with typical systems characteristics, such as specified objectives relating to the organisation’s objectives, an environment, available resources, specified components and effective management. / Thesis (PhD (Information Technology))--University of Pretoria, 2006. / Informatics / unrestricted

Raisonnement automatique basé ontologies appliqué à la hiérarchisation des alertes en télécardiologie / Ontology based Automatic Reasoning applied to telecardiology alerts

Rosier, Arnaud 11 September 2015 (has links)
Introduction :Remote monitoring of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED) such as pacemakers and defibrillators is the new follow-up standard. However, the numerous alerts generated in remote monitoring causes a burden for physicians. Morever, many alerts are notified despite the knowledge of patient condition and could be refined. This work proposes an automatic tool for classifying atrial fibrillation alert, based on an ontological knowledge model in OWL2. In particular, CHA2DS2VASc thrombo-embolic risk score and patient anticogulation status are accounted in order to determine alert importance. Materials and methods :An application ontology was designed in OWL2, in order to represent the concepts needed for processing alerts. This ontology was used to infer the importance of 1783 AF alerts among 60 CIED recipients, using a 4-grade scale. Automatic classification was compared to that of 2 medical experts.Results :1749 of 1783 alerts (98%) were correctly classified. 58 of 60 patients had every alerts classified with the same importance by the prototype and the human experts. An ontology-driven automatic reasoning tool is able to classify remote monitoring alerts, by using individual medical context. This technology could be important for managing data generated by connected medical devices.

Evaluation et optimisation des performances de fonctions pour la surveillance de turboréacteurs / Evaluation and optimization of function performances for the monitoring of turbojet engines

Hmad, Ouadie 06 December 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with monitoring systems of turbojet engines. The development of such systems requires a performance evaluation and optimization phase prior to their introduction in operation. The work has been focused on this phase, and more specifically on the performance of the detection and the prognostic functions of two systems. Performances metrics related to each of these functions as well as their estimate have been defined. The monitored systems are, on the one hand, the start sequence for the detection function and on the other hand, the oil consumption for the prognostic function. The used data come from flights in operation without degradation, simulations of degradation were necessary for the performance assessment. Optimization of detection performance was obtained by tuning a threshold on the decision statistics taking into account the airlines requirements in terms of good detection rate and false alarm rate. Two approaches have been considered and their performances have been compared for their best configurations. Prognostic performances of over oil consumption, simulated using Gamma processes, have been assessed on the basis of the relevance of maintenance decision induced by the prognostic. This thesis has allowed quantifying and improving the performance of the two considered functions to meet the airlines requirements. Other possible improvements are proposed as prospects to conclude this thesis
