Computational Modeling of Propeller Noise: NASA SR-7A propeller

Moussa, Karim January 2014 (has links)
The aerospace industry has been concerned with propeller noise levels for years. This interest is two-fold: government regulation and comfort in cabin. This report attempts to create a simulation mechanism needed to evaluate the far-field noise generation levels. However, in order to do that, the tandem cylinder case was evaluated first as a validation step before the SR-7A propeller case was performed. Both cases use STAR-CCM+, a commercial software, to perform the simulations.

Evidensbaserad praktik : Socialt fältarbete i Rinkeby-Kista stadsdelsförvaltning

Ingram, Sofia, Larsen, Lotta January 2014 (has links)
Increasingly high demands, in western welfare states, are placed on a scientifically based social work practice; a so-called evidence based practice. The aim for the study is to investigate evidence based social work practice. This is achieved through a study of the work methods of detached youth workers from Rinkeyby-Kista district administration in Stockholm and their view on evidence based social work. The study is conducted using interviews which together with various documents are analyzed and set against a theoretical framework. The documents consist of a popular science article, two job advertisements and data from detached youth workers. The authors thus use different methods of collecting data. The theoretical framework consists of the National Board model for evidence based work and applied theoretical literature regarding evidence based practice, social work and outreach work. The results demonstrate that there is uncertainty about the concept of evidence based practice among detached youth workers included in the survey. This furthermore leads to an evidence based practice which is largely carried out without a professional awareness.

Das Vertical Gradient Freeze-Verfahren ohne Tiegelkontakt

Langheinrich, Denise 07 February 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Joint-de: sistema de mapeamento objeto-ontologia com suporte a objetos desconectados / Joint-de: object-ontology mapping system with support to detached objects

Cavalcanti Neto, Olavo de Holanda 22 May 2014 (has links)
In the last few years, it is increasing the development and use of ontologies in creating more intelligent and effective applications that aim to solve problems commonly found on the Web. This popularity is due to the fact that ontologies attempt to provide semantics to the data consumed by machines, so that they can reason about these data. However, the large adoption of the Semantic Web can be further accelerated by providing sophisticated tools that lower the barrier to the development of applications based on RDF and OWL. Developers of applications with relational databases are already familiar with tools like Hibernate, which provide an object-relational mapping and the management of the objects states. Actually, the main object state that Hibernate provides is the detached. Nevertheless, the great majority of the object-ontology mapping systems (OOMS) only provide persistent objects. The big difference between these two types of objects is that the former one has its life cycle independent of the underlying triple store connection, but the latter one is bounded to the connection. In this context, this paper proposes the creation of an object-ontology mapping systems that supports detached objects, called Joint-DE. With this system, developers of ontology-based applications can: i) use the objects coming from the triple store as objects of the business model; ii) use such objects as data transfer objects ( DTOs) between subsystems and; iii) develop small transactions with detached objects that represent a long transaction unit for the application user. To illustrate the benets of the proposed system, a case study of a real application is presented, outlining the architectural limitations of the application using an existing OOMS in the literature, as well as showing positive results to the use of JOINT-DE. Finally, an experiment was planned and executed aiming to compare the JOINT-DE with another OOMS widely used by the community: Alibaba. The statistical analyzes performed in this experiment showed satisfactory results with regard to JOINT-DE.

Detached leaves and seedlings of some cultivars were inoculated with F. tucumaniae using different methodologies in order to evaluated their resistance reaction. The conduction of the research work consisted of the following phases: obtainment and maintenance the isolate, evaluation of the pathogen growth and sporulation in different cultura media and luminosity; evaluation of different inoculation methods in detached leaves conditioned either in filter paper and soil being, incubated under two temperatures; evaluation of inoculation methods in soybean seedlings developed in greenhouse (Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter); reaction of soybean cultivars to F. tucumaniae evaluated in detached leaves; reaction of soybean cultivars to F. tucumaniae evaluated in seedling (Autumn/Winter). The obtained results showed that the fungus sporulation was more intense when grown in a sorghum grain medium. Inoculation methodologies in seedlings showed best results when carried out during the 2005 Autumn/Winter period, because seedlings infection was observed, mainly in the susceptible cultivars, and all the employed methods allowed observation of the disease typical symptoms. FT-Cristalina was the cultivar in which the highest level of plant infection was observed, when the sorghum grain method (GS) was employed. The oat grain inoculation method in detached leaves, led to the highest leaf infection index, and the environmental condition which allowed the highest degree of leaf infection was in the soil under 23oC. FT-Estrela cultivar had 90.2% of their seedlings dead whereas for the CAC-1 cultivar that value was of 46.9% (method GS). Cultivars reaction could not be evaluated by means of the detached leaf method.
