Matrix representation for partitions and Mock Theta functions

Bagatini, Alessandro January 2016 (has links)
In this work, based on representations by matrices of two lines for some kind of partition (some already known and other new ones), we identify properties suggested by classifying them according to the sum of its second line. This sum always provides some properties of the related partition. If we consider unsigned versions of some Mock Theta Functions, its general term can be interpreted as generating function for some kind of partition with restrictions. To come back to the original coefficients, you can set a weight for each array and so add them to evaluate the coefficients. An analogous representation for partitions allows us to observe properties, again by classificating them according to the sum of its elements on the second row. This classification is made by means of tables created by mathematical software Maple, which suggest patterns, identities related to other known types of partitions and often, finding a closed formula to count them. Having established conjectured identities, all are proved by bijections between sets or counting methods.

The performance of football elite players is directly influenced by physical, psychological, technical and tactical aspects. A scientific support capable of seek and apply methodologies to quantifying these factors is an important source of information to coaches improve their conditions to well prepare their teams. About football tactical aspects, the manner a team share the pitch in responsibility areas and how this distribution behaviours during the match can be described through mathematical techniques. Thus, the aim of this study is to show players' responsibility area during official matches using Voronoi Diagram (VD). To do so, we collected images of 4 football matches. To extract 2D players' coordinates during the entire match, images segmentation, tracking and 2D reconstruction were performed in DVideo® software. In the analysis, VD method was applied to players' 2D coordinates to all 33 players of a same team, at each instant of time and in the 4 matches. Given a set of points on plan (representing players positions as function of time), VD share the plan in regions according to distances between all points of the set, called Voronoi polygons (VP). Voronoi areas were calculated a determined as players' responsibility areas. This tool permits obtaining a summary of pitchlocations inside Voronoi polygons of each player, during the entire match, using hitmaps. To characterize responsibility areas, the contours of hitmaps corresponding to pitch areas inside VP by, at least, 60% of the match were performed. The results showed contours as an effective tool to qualitatively and quantitatively represent responsibility areas in a match. Besides, mathematical properties related to known geometric structures, as convex polygons, facilitate calculating areas. They showed be higher to goalkeepers, external defenders and forwards when compared to central defenders, defensive and offensive midfielders / Mestrado / Biodinamica do Movimento Humano / Mestre em Educação Física

A configuração do discurso do diagrama na arquitetura contemporânea / The configuration of the diagrams discourse in the contemporary architecture

Douglas Lopes de Souza 11 May 2010 (has links)
Facing an amplified projectual comprehension in contemporary architecture due to the disciplinary intersections experimented in the postmodernism, this thesis emphasize the processes that announce the diagram as a concept that effects a new architectural modus operandi. Apprehending the theoretical ramifications that are generated about this theme inside the architect´s speeches, this thesis searches in the Charles S. Peirces semiotics definition of diagram and in its philosophic derivation of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari an instrumental support for the comprehension of the dis- course ´s configuration of the diagram in architecture. Starting from the assumption that the possibility of a concept is only effective inner its interpretation, we had recoursed to the analysis of texts and works of Peter Eisenman and of the office UNStudio in the attempt to understand how the concept transits in these

Efficient FBD Test Generation Through Program Slicing

Hurtig, Christian January 2018 (has links)
Program slicing has been used as a way to improve the efficiency of debugging and program analysis. Nowadays, automated test generation is being used to create tests automatically by analysing the program structure and suggesting necessary tests. This kind of techniques are prone to efficiency problems when applied to large programs containing many lines of code. This is especially true for software in industrial practice, such as the ones running on Programmable logic controllers (PLC) that are used in a wide variety of tasks from toys to avionics and rail transport. Function Block Diagram (FBD) is a language used for programming PLCs that has gained lots of attention in industrial practice due to its graphical nature. These FBD programs are often used in real time and safety critical systems, and these systems require extensive testing in order to prove that they pass safety requirements of their respective domains. In order to improve the efficiency of applying automated test generation on FBD programs we propose two FBD program slicing algorithms based on the structure of these diagrams and how they are programmed. These FBD program slicing algorithms are applied on several industrial programs for PLCs in order to evaluate their feasibility and what effect slicing has on test generation. Six FBD programs were selected out of 189 provided by Bombardier Transportation Sweden AB. The six programs were sliced according to these FBD slicing algorithms and then evaluated in terms of efficiency and applicability. Our results suggest that slicing can be used to reduce the needed generation time and memory usage required for automated test generation. However, our observations show that slicing can also increase the number of test cases generated and how this test cases are merged into one test suite for the entire program.

Grafit : Webbapplikation för datapresentation / Grafit : Web application for data presentation

Urhed, Casper, Mossberg, Robert January 2016 (has links)
Graphical presentation of data stored in databases is commonly achieved with desktop software which requires the data to be transferred from the database to the local machine and then processed with software. This method requires knowledge in database-related languages and tools such as SQL, and is thus demanding or inaccessible to users without a certain level of education or experience in these languages and tools. The goal of this study is to create an application that eliminates the need for advanced competence in such languages and tools to make it possible for a broader subset of users to graphically present data stored in databases. To achieve this goal, a web application has been developed that features a simple GUI for connecting to a remote database and creating charts from the data stored there. The application generates queries to the databases according to the user’s input in the GUI. For security and convenience the application has been developed with a role-based access control system.

Improving Novice Analyst Performance in Modeling the Sequence Diagram in Systems Analysis: A Cognitive Complexity Approach

Sin, Thant 18 February 2009 (has links)
The Unified Modeling Language (UML) has quickly become the industry standard for object-oriented software development. It is being widely used in organizations and institutions around the world. However, UML is often found to be too complex for novice systems analysts. Although prior research has identified difficulties novice analysts encounter in learning UML, no viable solution has been proposed to address these difficulties. Sequence-diagram modeling, in particular, has largely been overlooked. The sequence diagram models the behavioral aspects of an object-oriented software system in terms of interactions among its building blocks, i.e. objects and classes. It is one of the most commonly-used UML diagrams in practice. However, there has been little research on sequence-diagram modeling. The current literature scarcely provides effective guidelines for developing a sequence diagram. Such guidelines will be greatly beneficial to novice analysts who, unlike experienced systems analysts, do not possess relevant prior experience to easily learn how to develop a sequence diagram. There is the need for an effective sequence-diagram modeling technique for novices. This dissertation reports a research study that identified novice difficulties in modeling a sequence diagram and proposed a technique called CHOP (CHunking, Ordering, Patterning), which was designed to reduce the cognitive load by addressing the cognitive complexity of sequence-diagram modeling. The CHOP technique was evaluated in a controlled experiment against a technique recommended in a well-known textbook, which was found to be representative of approaches provided in many textbooks as well as practitioner literatures. The results indicated that novice analysts were able to perform better using the CHOP technique. This outcome seems have been enabled by pattern-based heuristics provided by the technique. Meanwhile, novice analysts rated the CHOP technique more useful although not significantly easier to use than the control technique. The study established that the CHOP technique is an effective sequence-diagram modeling technique for novice analysts.

Image Transfer Between Magnetic Resonance Images and Speech Diagrams

Wang, Kang 03 December 2020 (has links)
Realtime Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a method used for human anatomical study. MRIs give exceptionally detailed information about soft-tissue structures, such as tongues, that other current imaging techniques cannot achieve. However, the process requires special equipment and is expensive. Hence, it is not quite suitable for all patients. Speech diagrams show the side view positions of organs like the tongue, throat, and lip of a speaking or singing person. The process of making a speech diagram is like the semantic segmentation of an MRI, which focuses on the selected edge structure. Speech diagrams are easy to understand with a clear speech diagram of the tongue and inside mouth structure. However, it often requires manual annotation on the MRI machine by an expert in the field. By using machine learning methods, we achieved transferring images between MRI and speech diagrams in two directions. We first matched videos of speech diagram and tongue MRIs. Then we used various image processing methods and data augmentation methods to make the paired images easy to train. We built our network model inspired by different cross-domain image transfer methods and applied reference-based super-resolution methods—to generate high-resolution images. Thus, we can do the transferring work through our network instead of manually. Also, generated speech diagram can work as an intermediary part to be transferred to other medical images like computerized tomography (CT), since it is simpler in structure compared to an MRI. We conducted experiments using both the data from our database and other MRI video sources. We use multiple methods to do the evaluation and comparisons with several related methods show the superiority of our approach.
