Performance dos bancos brasileiros no contexto de digitalização

Considerando o crescimento da oferta de canais digitais de atendimento por parte dos bancos brasileiros, o presente estudo avalia como o investimento em tecnologia vem afetando a performance dos bancos brasileiros. Em outros contextos, diversos estudos avaliaram o impacto dessa digitalização nos resultados das instituições financeiras. Hernando e Nieto (2007) e Ciciretti et al. (2009), por exemplo, identificaram ganhos de rentabilidade e redução de custos com a implantação do internet banking nos bancos espanhóis e italianos. No presente estudo foram analisadas três medidas de rentabilidade (ROA, ROE e Margem de Intermediação) e duas medidas de despesas (de pessoal e administrativas). Foi também verificada a evolução das Eficiências Técnica, de Custos e Alocativa dos bancos brasileiros no contexto da digitalização e considerando os investimentos em TI. Os resultados sugerem que o investimento em tecnologia da informação pelos bancos possui uma relação positiva e significativa com as variáveis de rentabilidade e com as Despesas Administrativas, concordando parcialmente com os estudos de Hernando e Nieto (2007). Foi verificado também melhora na eficiência técnica dos bancos brasileiros ao longo do período analisado, principalmente nos que possuem maior investimento em TI. / Considering the growing offer of digital service channels from the Brazilian banks, the present study evaluates how the investment in technology is affecting the performance of the Brazilian banks. At other contexts, many studies have evaluated the impact of this digitalization on the results of the finance institutions. Hernando and Nieto (2007) and Ciciretti et al. (2009), for example, identified profit gains and cost reduction as the internet banking was applied on the Spanish and Italian banks. In the present study, it was analysed three measures of profitability (ROA, ROE and Margin of Intermediation) and two measures of expenses (personal and total of administrative expenses). It was also verified the Evolution of the Technical, Cost and Allocative Efficiencies of the Brazilian banks in the context of digitalization and considering the IT investments. The results suggests that the investment in information technology from the banks has a positive and significative relation with the profitability variables and with the Administrative Expenses, partially agreeing with the studies of Hernando and Nieto (2007). It was also verified improvement on the technical efficiency of the Brazilian banks along the analysed period, mainly on that with the greatest Investment in IT.

Digitalization and digital technologies is gaining increased influence in today's society and contribute to many societal changes, globally as well as locally. This has a great impact on organizations, as well as the work methods within these. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to study how the HR function and the role of HR have been altered by the digital transformation and which effects this may lead to. In order to find trends and identify effects, a systematic literature review has been used as a way to gain a deeper understanding of how HR has been affected by digitalization. The study has shown that digitalization has contributed to a major change in HR's role in the organization. Digital technologies open up new ways of working and new focus areas for HR, and contribute to cost-effectiveness as it frees administrative work and creates opportunities for reaching out to broad networks.

The effects of digitalization on auditors’ tools and working methods : A study of the audit profession

The aim of this qualitative and exploratory study is to increase the understanding of the effects digitalization has on the tools and working methods of the audit profession. This is achieved through 14 semi-structured interviews with practicing auditors, where emphasis is put on interpretation. Conclusions drawn are that the effect on the auditors’ working methods are more prominent than on the tools, due to paperless working methods and increased flexibility. Unlike previous research, this study also discovers an increasing effect – education. Thereby, education is underlined as important among auditors, where institutions also have to develop available education to the new competence needed.

Describes and compares the distribution methods, using information technology and discusses the current problems. Describes digitization methods and methods that can save bandwidth for distribution. Deals with the possible practical implementation of distribution od three dimensional video to upcoming standards and analyzes the possibilities of their future development. Discusses the overall problems of transmission standardization and advanced video coding. In a conclusion, based on a comparison of methods and practical experience of the author, thesis recommends certain procedures to implement to the standard and specifies the direction of the technological solutions.

Stöttor i digitalisering : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om stödfunktioner för medarbetare i en digitaliseringsprocess

Denna studie har som syfte att få en djupare förståelse för vilka olika former av kompetensutveckling som aktualiseras av digitalisering inom detaljhandeln. Två forskningsfrågor har formulerats. På vilka sätt stöds tillägnandet av ny kunskap om digitala redskap? och vilka sociala och praktiska konsekvenser finns det för medarbetarna i digitaliseringen utifrån de stödfunktioner de kan använda sig av? Tidigare forskning lyfter aspekter kring vad som stödjer en medarbetare till att delta i digitala förändringsprocesser och visar att digitalisering inte endast handlar om teknologi utan även är en pedagogisk fråga. Empirin har insamlats genom kvalitativa intervjuer med åtta stycken medarbetare i detaljhandeln som arbetar på ett mellanstort hemelektronikföretag. Företaget har genomgått en omfattande digital förändringsprocess. De teoretiska utgångspunkterna för studien är de sociokulturella teoretiska begreppen, stöttor och artefakter. Studien utgår ifrån grundad teori och har en explorativ ansats. Resultaten visade på fyra stycken stöttor medarbetare använder sig för att lära sig i en digital förändringsprocess. Dessa är kollegiala, formellt instruerade, interaktiva och improviserade stöttor. Vidare visade resultaten även på de konsekvenser stöttorna fick för medarbetarna. Den kollegiala stöttan var en av de stöttor medarbetarna starkt förlitade sig på men att den var inte lika pålitlig när flera förändringar skedde samtidigt eller vid samarbetssvårigheter. De formellt instruerade stöttorna från företaget fungerade mest som en överblick och kunde upplevas som otillräckliga. Interaktiva stöttor blir mer användbara när företaget digitaliserar då mer interaktion sker via digitala verktyg. Slutligen handlar den improviserade stöttan om att medarbetare själva tar ansvar för sitt lärande med företagets stöd. Detta kunde dock resultera i att medarbetarna aldrig tog till sig de kunskaper företaget förväntade sig. / The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of the various forms of competence development that are brought to the fore by digitalization in retail. Two research questions have been formulated. In what ways is the acquisition of new knowledge about digital tools supported? and what social and practical consequences are there for employees in digitalisation based on the support functions they can use? Previous research highlights aspects of support an employee has to participate in digital change processes and shows that digitization is not only about technology but is also a pedagogical issue. Empirics has been collected through qualitative interviews with eight retail employees who work at a mediumsized electronics company. The company has undergone an extensive digital change process. The theoretical starting point for the study is the socio-cultural theoretical concepts, scaffolding and artifacts. The study is based on grounded theory and has an exploratory approach. The results showed four scaffolding processes employees use to learn in a digital change process. These are collegial, formally instrumented, interactive and improvised support functions. Furthermore, results also showed the consequences the scaffolding processes had for the employees. Collegial support was one of the support functions that the employees strongly relied on, but results showed that it was not as reliable when several changes took place at the same time or in the event of collaboration difficulties. Formally instructed support from the company served mostly as an overview and could be perceived as insufficient. Interactive support became more useful when the company digitized as more interaction took place via digital tools. Finally, Improvisational support implies that the employees themselves take responsibility for their learning with the company's support. However, this could result in the employees never learning what the company expected.

The analytical part includes a description of the company, an analysis of the current state and a proposal for change. The proposed changes are the transition from a relational database to a non relational one and a new web application for data visualization. The last part of the thesis describes the implementation of these changes and their evaluation.
