Framtagning av Drag&Drop klassbibliotek för WPF-baserat användargränssnitt

Lööf, Robert January 2012 (has links)
System Andersson AB is a company located in Jönköping that works with developing computer systems for the mechanical engineering industry. As of today, when this report is written, the company is working on the development of a new Manufacturing Planning and Control (MPC) system. This new system aims to create not only a user friendly interface but also a modern, stylish interface. To achieve this, the company has decided to work with a, for them, new application framework; Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF).System Andersson is well known for developing systems for different kinds of touch screens, this project is no exception. For this new user interface the company wishes to implement different types of Drag&Drop functionality. They have not had enough time themselves to study and finish these parts and therefore they have chosen to hand out the task as a thesis project. The first step in the process was to get to know what WPF was and how it works, and especially how it handles Drag&Drop. The goal was to put together some sort of class library and a presentation that together were to give the company a quick guide on how they could implement the functionality into their system. As the framework was new for the company there were also a wish for alternative solutions that demonstrated how the WPF framework could be used to solve the task in as many ways as possible. This report contains a summary of the projects procedure and result. In the report the results are presented and motivated as well as demonstrated in the appendix.

Omvandlingen av en skrivbordsapplikation till en webbapplikation / Transformation of a desktop application to a web application

Razafimandimbison, Handi, Håkanson, Daniel January 2015 (has links)
This thesis investigates how a developer can move a desktop application to the web environment. The investigation also includes finding out what are the limitations of a web application and what is not possible to move to the web from the desktop. The question is whether there is any functionality that is gained or lost in the web application after the move. A survey has been conducted to find out what types of problems occur when moving an application from desktop to the web. The authors of this thesis have developed two prototypes for a company who wants to move a limited part of their current desktop application to the web in the future. The prototypes have been developed in Silverlight and ASP.NET. The survey has revealed that one of the disadvantages of web applications is the difficulty in working with local files and hardware on the computer. An information search has suggested that a function in a web application can be carried out faster or slower than in a desktop application depending on the conditions. Silverlight has shown through the practical work that it can make the move to the web easier for companies who are more specialized in desktop applications because there is not much knowledge required for the migration. Silverlight has also shown during the implementation of graphical components that it can easily move functionality such as drag and drop with the aid of its toolkit. The shift from desktop to the web can be seen as building a web application from scratch. The result can be influenced by the experience of the developer in the development of the web or desktop applications. Increased knowledge in the methods and technology used in the development of web applications is a necessity for anyone considering to make the move from the desktop.

Study of the interaction of older adults with touchscreen / Etude de l'interaction de personnes âgées avec des écrans tactiles

Genaro Motti Ader, Lilian 21 March 2016 (has links)
Tablets and smartphones have become mainstream technologies. However, the aging effects on the motor skills implied on tactile interaction haven't been enough considered during the design and evaluation of tactile interactive systems, what prevent this group of older adult users to be digitally included successfully. This thesis aims to study the interaction of older adults with touchscreens in order to identify usability issues on different devices and input modalities (smartphone and tablet, finger and stylus). To this study, we designed an interactive system consisted of tactile puzzle games and using drag-and-drop interaction for positioning the puzzle pieces into their corresponding targets. In this framework, a special attention was given to the analysis of the movements of the user. The analysis of the postures of the users' wrists during interaction allowed to elucidate the relationship between the characteristics of the movements of older adults and their performances, particularly concerning the longer times needed for executing the gestures of interaction as well as the increased error rates of this group of users when compared to younger adults. Taking into account the variability of users' motor skills during the design and evaluation of interactive systems is necessary to better understand their difficulties as well as to improve the ergonomics and the usability levels of tactile interaction.

Administration Service for the Tourist Information System (TIP)

Hsieh, Ping-Ju January 2008 (has links)
The modern day tourists do not want to deal with the hassle of using a large number of travel guides and paper maps while travelling. They would prefer to be able to access required information via their mobile phones or Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). We realise that the delivered information may be originally available in numerous information formats. To support the administrator of the tourist guides the programme is required to help sorting information from these different sources and to help inserting them into a system. Our goal with this project is to develop a software support for processing information import via a graphical user interface, to support the administrator in identifying and extracting the appropriate sight information from various resources. The interface also helps in transferring and storing the structured and unstructured data into the TIP database.

Examining the Comparative Measurement Value of Technology-Enhanced Items:

Moncaleano, Sebastian January 2021 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Michael Russell / The growth of computer-based testing over the last two decades has motivated the creation of innovative item formats. It is often argued that technology-enhanced items (TEIs) provide better measurement of test-takers’ knowledge, skills, and abilities by increasing the authenticity of tasks presented to test-takers (Sireci & Zenisky, 2006). Despite the popularity of TEIs in operational assessments, there remains little psychometric research on these innovative item formats. Claims regarding their potential to provide better measurement are seldomly explored. This dissertation adds to this limited body of research by developing theory and proposing a methodology to compare TEIs to traditional item formats. This study investigated how to judge the comparative measurement value (CMV) of two drag-and-drop technology-enhanced formats (classification and rank-ordering) relative to stem-equivalent multiple-choice items. Items were administered to a sample of adults and results were calibrated using a 2-parameter logistic IRT model. Moreover, the utility of the TEIs was evaluated according to the TEI Utility Framework (Russell, 2016). Four indicators were identified as the most valuable characteristics to judge CMV and then combined into a hierarchical decision protocol. When applied, this protocol provides a CMV judgment and a recommendation of the preferred item format. Applying the protocol to the items revealed that most TEIs examined in this study showed decreased CMV, indicating that in a real-life scenario the multiple-choice format would be favored for most of these item pairs. Recommendations for the use of the CMV protocol and directions of future related research are discussed. / Thesis (PhD) — Boston College, 2021. / Submitted to: Boston College.
