'n Dramabenadering ten opsigte van die wysiging van persepsies van manlike homoseksualiteit

Van Niekerk, Nicolaas Francois. 16 August 2012 (has links)
M.Ed. / This research study focuses on researching the success of drama as intervention — and educational medium in the alteration of perceptions held regarding male homosexuality. The study is motivated by the fact that discrimination against males with this sexual orientation has evolved into a part of South African's everyday lives. The study is completed within the framework of the Existential paradigm. In the achievement of the above-mentioned study goal, the researcher applied the techniques of Qualitative research, and specifically used phenomenological studies according to this paradigm. The data was gathered through a variety of techniques (questionnaires, sketches and in-depth personal interviews) which enhanced the viability and reliability of the study through Triangulation. The drama, named "Die Voelverslcrikker" (with its own educational implications), was written according to the style of Absurd theatre, which projected the Existentialist philosophy in art. The drama was shown to the six people who participated in the study. Analyzing these responses gathered before the drama was seen, led to the identification of phenomenons, which were categorized. This proved to the researcher that the participants showed little insight into male homosexuality. It also enhanced the fact that negative attitudes toward male homosexuals were held. These findings justified the purpose of the study. These results were compared with the participants' responses after the play was seen, which led to conclusions regarding growth and change in insight regarding male homosexuality, bat a stagnancy in attitude towards males with this sexual orientation. These results were explained according to the Existential paradigm. In this regard the researcher mentioned fusion, the perceptual neuropsychological organization, introspection and Pragmatism. The researcher also proposes that this study presents a lot of other research opportunities.

Creative drama as a source for literacy development

Kirkner, B. Joanne 01 January 1995 (has links)
Students achieve knowledge by different means. I find that a child allowed to learn from one's personal style finds purpose in learning and develops a desire to read. With this in mind I have designed this project to be used as a resource for teachers wanting to implement creative drama, in the classroom, as an avenue for improving reading abilities of low-progress readers.

The Effect of Creative Dramatics Activities on the Story Retellings of Kindergartners

Weidner, Deborah Fowler 05 1900 (has links)
The study was designed to determine the effect a dramatic play activity had on the content of a story retelling of kindergarten students. Approximately 35 students were randomly sampled to form experimental and control groups. Both groups engaged in a read aloud activity, followed by brief discussion, and an independent illustration of the story. The experimental group participated in a creative reenactment of the story prior to the illustration activity. Students in both groups then retold the story to the researcher. Retellings were transcribed and scored for: Story Retelling Analysis score (Morrow, 1988); percentage of characters recalled; percentage of plot episodes recalled; and the presence of story language, inferential statements, and a distinct beginning, middle, and end. Anecdotal data are described narratively.

An investigation of contemporary dramatic art programs, theater plants, and production attitudes in one hundred and sixty-six public high schools of California

Cureton, Curtis 01 January 1954 (has links) (PDF)
The existence of dramatic art activity at the secondary school level has been often accepted as expedient and profit- able. The objectives, nature, and operation of such & program are, however, topics for much dispute. An investigation of dramatic activity in our public high schools could drew a clearer picture of current dramatic activities in those schools responding to the study. Such definition might well lead to a better understanding of the problems peculiar to dramatic activity in the public nigh schools of California
