The aim of the research was to show best practice of the development process of a visual identity for a new, luxury lingerie brand. A part of the research was also to learn about luxury brand values and visual identity by studying other luxury lingerie brands and use that as input for the development of the new brand. The study started with a literature review, investigating the areas of brand identity, brand visual identity elements and visual identity development process. The performed empirical development of a new, luxury lingerie brand’s visual identity brought learning about the preferred procedure. The general principles for the development, with four main process phases of planning, brand platform development, concept development and implementation that was collected from literature was useful because it gave an overall structure to the project. The concept phase of the development started with idea generation and a consumer evaluation of the concepts. A design theme was then chosen for the selected concept, and the detailed design of the visual elements was developed. A conclusion from the project is that the design theme should have been developed for each concept proposal before evaluation, so that the consumers could have got a feeling for the complete design style and have given more correct feedback.

This project examines, critiques and develops the role museums play in shaping and maintaining consciousness and identity within US and Mexican society. Key to this investigation are the ideals of what traditionally constitutes a museum and who determines what messages are conveyed and who has the opportunity to experience and receive the messages. Ultimately museums have an incredible impact on and responsibility towards the communities they serve and their role as communicators of social and cultural messages cannot be ignored. Museums are the spaces in which communal consciousness is not only created but also preserved. The museum should educate, engage and enlighten as well as connect communities. The development of a new progressive museum model is necessary to achieve and uphold these tenants. This project conducts a comparative analysis of Museos Comunitarios (Community Museums) in Oaxaca, Mexico and the Museo Alameda in the United States, focusing on the mission and founding principals as well as exhibition choice and institutional operating mechanisms. This analysis will forecast how these institutions and exhibitions impact the trajectory of the communities they encounter and outline the new role of the museum in the 21st century. / text

Identity theft is an ever-present and ever-growing issue in our society. Identity theft, fraud and abuse are present and growing in every market sector. The data available to describe how these identity crimes are conducted and the consequences for victims is often recorded in stories and reports by the news press, fraud examiners and law enforcement. To translate and analyze these stories in this very unstructured format, this thesis first discusses the collection of identity theft data automatically using text mining techniques from the online news stories and reports on the topic of identity theft. The collected data are used to enrich the ITAP (Identity Threat Assessment and Prediction) Project repository under development at the Center for Identity at The University of Texas. Moreover, this thesis shows the statistics of common behaviors and resources used by identity thieves and fraudsters — identity attributes used to identify people, resources employed to conduct the identity crime, and patterns of identity criminal behavior. Analysis of these results should help researchers to better understand identity threat behaviors, offer people early warning signs and thwart future identity theft crimes. / text

The purpose of this research is to discover the new symbols and new histories that are being constructed in the Plurinational State of Bolivia on 2012. The Legislature is the main stage where the research takes place and where the new actors interact on a yet unfamiliar zone. Equally important are the tensions that arise in the building of a new discourse that aims at breaking with homogenizing and exclusionary practices of the state. The unprecedented presence of indigenous people in the Legislature has ambivalent effects for the state and the indigenous communities. The thesis aims at uncovering these effects through the analysis of discourse, symbolic representations, and quotidian political practices. / text

During the fall 2013 semester, a group of seven preservice theatre teachers engaged in a devised playbuilding project with the aim of exploring and interrogating their own identities. This thesis uses identity theory and the methodology of playbuilding as qualitative phenomenological research to interrogate the multiple identities of the preservice theatre teacher. Through qualitative analysis of that playbuilding process, this thesis reports on the perceptions, experiences, and stories of seven participants currently enrolled in the BFA Theatre Studies program at The University of Texas at Austin as they explored identity. Their experiences and perceptions reflect the multiple, and sometimes simultaneous, identities of the participants such as Student, Student-teacher, Teacher, Artist, and Person. / text

Ego-identity is influenced by many factors. Formal operations and field-dependence have often been cited as important factors in the level of ego-identity achieved. One hundred fifty-three introductory Psychology students were given the Personal Orientation Inventory as a measure of ego-identity and actualization, a test of Formal Operations developed by Karen Hardy-Brown and the Embedded Figures test as a measure of Field-dependence. No correlation was found between any of the measures indicating that a persons ego-identity was not related to the use of Formal Operations or field-dependence. A factor analysis was also performed with each instrument loading on a separate factor.
