Transfemorale Aortenklappenimplantation bei älteren Hochrisikopatienten mit symptomatischer, hochgradiger Aortenklappenstenose – prospektiver Vergleich der Edwards SAPIEN™/SAPIEN XT™ Transcatheter Heart Valves mit dem Medtronic CoreValve ReValving™ System

Schiefer, Conrad 25 October 2012 (has links) (PDF)

The last Edwardsean : Edwards Amasa Park and the rhetoric of improved Calvinism

Phillips, Charles W. January 2005 (has links)
Edwards Amasa Park (1808-1900) of Andover championed Edwardsean Calvinism in the United States from the Jacksonian era until the very close of the nineteenth century by employing rhetorical strategies that lent his New England theology fresh apologetic usefulness. The thesis demonstrates that Park has been incorrectly identified as a Taylorite but, extending the argument of Joseph Conforti, ought to be viewed as re-casting his inherited Hopkinsian exercise scheme into a fresh historical synthesis influenced by contemporary patterns of thought. Park’s own training at Andover in the irenic divinity of Moses Stuart and Leonard Woods, his application as rhetorician of the work of Hugh Blair and George Campbell and his exposure in Germany to the Vermittlungstheologie of Friedrich Tholuck and Julius Müller gave specific definition to his own theological project. Additionally, the thesis argues that Park ought not to be viewed as a romantic idealist in the line of Horace Bushnell or as a proto-liberal in advance of the Andover liberals who succeeded him. Park retained a life-long commitment to a commingled epistemology and methodology derived from Lockean empiricism, Baconian induction, natural theology and Scottish common sense realism. As a formidable apologist for his revivalist inheritance identified with Jonathan Edwards and Samuel Hopkins, Edwards Amasa Park conserved the substance and prolonged the influence of his beloved New England theology by securing for it modes of expression well fitted to his nineteenth-century audience.

Delineating contributing areas for karst springs using NEXRAD data and cross-correlation analysis

Budge, Trevor Jones, 1974- 06 September 2012 (has links)
The use of cross-correlation analysis on spring discharge and precipitation data in karst aquifer basins has been used for many years to develop a conceptual understanding of an aquifer and estimate aquifer properties. However, to this point, the application of these processes has relied on gaged precipitation at discrete locations. The use of spatially varying precipitation data and cross-correlation analysis provides a means of spatially characterizing recharge locations on a karst aquifer. NEXRAD provides a spatial estimate of precipitation based by combining reflectivity measurements from radar stations and traditional precipitation gages. This study combines NEXRAD precipitation data with spring discharge data to develop maps of contributing areas for two karst springs in Central Texas. By calculating the cross-correlation of each NEXRAD measurement to spring flow data for the same period of time a map showing the locations hydraulically connected to the spring can be developed. Both numerical experiments and field applications were conducted as part of the study. The numerical experiments conducted by Padilla and Pulido-Bosch are revisited using the numerical groundwater model MODFLOW. This allowed the introduction of spatially varying parameters into the model. The results show that spatially varying parameters can be inferred based on the results cross-correlation of spatially varying precipitation with respect to a single spring discharge location. Also, contributing area maps are prepared for both Barton Springs and Jacob’s Well. Barton Springs has a precise estimate of the recharge area. The current map of the recharge area and the NEXRAD derived map show good agreement with the cross-correlation results. Conversely, Jacob’s Well has not been sufficiently studied to delineate a contributing area map. This study provides an preliminary estimate of the area contributing to flow at Jacob’s Well. Finally, the development of these maps can also be applied to the construction of regional groundwater models. An application of this methodology with the groundwater availability model for the Barton Springs portion of the Edward’s aquifer is introduced. The application of spatial cross-correlation analysis to constrain recharge in the model showed a reduction in the objective function with respect to discharge at Barton Springs of 15%. / text

The greatest instruction received from human writings : the legacy of Jonathan Edwards in the theology of Andrew Fuller

Chun, Chris January 2008 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the legacy of Jonathan Edwards on the Particular Baptists by way of apprehending theories held by their congregations during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In particular, special attention is directed to the Edwardsean legacy as manifested in the theology of Andrew Fuller. The thesis positions itself between Edwards and Fuller in the transatlantic, early modern period and attempts by the two theologians to express a coherent understanding of traditional dogma within the context of the Enlightenment. The scope of the research traces Fuller’s theological indebtedness by way of historical reconstruction, textual expositions, and theological and philosophical implications of the following works: Freedom of the Will, Religious Affections, Humble Attempt, and Justification by Faith Alone et al. It identifies unique Edwardsean ideas as the basis for investigating whether such concepts permeate Fuller’s intellectual and spiritual life. In that process, the study establishes whether Fuller read and interpreted Edwards correctly or otherwise. This dissertation, therefore, endeavors to determine the extent of Edwards’s impact upon Fuller over and above such other influential factors, which could also have been considered influential in his works. An attempt to determine the parameters of such factors is the basis for the ensuing discussion.

Les effets de la variabilité du taux de change réel sur le commerce extérieur : le cas de la Tunisie / The Effects of Real Exchange Rate Variability on Foreign Trade. Case of Tunisia.

Chnaina, Khaled 12 September 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is the analysis of the variability of the real effective exchange rate (REER) on foreign trade total and sectoral of Tunisia over the period 1975-2009. Variability REER means volatility and misalignment. Volatility is measured by the mobile standard deviation (ETM) and the GARCH (1, 1). However, the misalignment of REER is measured by the deviation from the equilibrium rate given by three theories of exchange rate equilibrium namely the Edwards model, BEER and NATREX. Using estimates of exports and imports models with / without breaks, the results showed that the effects of volatility on trade are not very relevant in the long term. But the effects of the exchange rate misalignment appear very relevant mainly when the sectoral trade flows are used.

A Beholding and Jubilant Soul: Spiritual Awakening in the Thought of Jonathan Edwards and Ralph Waldo Emerson

Martin, Valerie Lynn 12 1900 (has links)
This study explores continuities in thought between Jonathan Edwards and Ralph Waldo Emerson by comparing their respective views on spiritual awakening. Their parallel ideas are discussed as results of similar perceptual dispositions which lead both to view awakening as an inner metamorphosis that leaves man less self-centered and more capable of a universal perception and appreciation of spiritual unity and beauty. Emphasized are parallels in Edwards's and Emerson's concepts of God, their views on the nature of awakening, their versions of preparation, and their thoughts about virtue and the awakened man. These continuities are also discussed as ideas that compose an underlying unity in American thought which unites the seemingly contradictory heritages of Puritanism and transcendentalism.

Hydrogeological analysis of groundwater chemistry and sulfate distribution, Blanco and Hays Counties, Texas

Andring, Megan J., 1984- 26 October 2010 (has links)
High concentrations of sulfate in groundwater, up to ten times the amount recommended by the EPA, in Blanco and Hays Counties, Texas, are of concern as groundwater pumping and population increase. The goals of this study are to characterize the chemistry of groundwaters in Blanco and Hays Counties within the context of Texas Groundwater Management Area-9 and to determine chemically and hydrogeologically the explanation for the spatial distribution of sulfate between the Pedernales River, the Blanco River, and Onion Creek. Insights gained by examining sulfate distribution in Blanco and Hays Counties can be applied to the other counties on the Edwards-Trinity Plateau with similarly high concentrations of sulfate in groundwater. Hydrochemical data from the Cretaceous Edwards and Trinity Groups and water level measurements were used to analyze groundwater chemistry and flow. PHREEQC was used to examine whether phase changes in aquifer minerals could explain the observed geochemical patterns. COMSOL was used to develop a simplified groundwater flow model for a cross-sectional area between the Pedernales River and Onion Creek in Hays County. Water levels indicate that groundwater generally flows southeast in the study area and most streams are gaining. The groundwater flow model indicates a zone of slow-moving groundwater beneath the topographic high between the Pedernales River, the Blanco River, and Onion Creek. Chemical analyses of well data show the presence of four groundwater chemical endmembers in Groundwater Management Area-9; a Ca-Mg-HCO3 fresh endmember, a Ca-Mg-SO4 endmember, a Ca-Mg-SO4-Na-Cl endmember, and a Na-Cl endmember. High sulfate waters generally come from the Upper and Middle Trinity aquifers while fresher waters are from the Edwards aquifer. Physical and chemical analyses indicate that the zone of high sulfate in Blanco and Hays Counties may be the result of gypsum dissolution and dedolomitization in the Upper and Middle Trinity aquifers combined with low rates of groundwater flow beneath the topographic high. Groundwater flow analyses are consistent with those for the Groundwater Availability Models published for the region. Chemical analyses, specifically SO4 distributions and Ca/Mg ratios, are consistent with those found by Nance(2010) on the Edwards Plateau, farther west of the study area. / text
